I lost 40 lbs before thinking about exercise, I'm 64 and haven't ever exercised before. Am walking now, building up my speed and distance so that I can maintain a weight loss of 2 lbs a week, slowly does it at my age!!

Its not big, its HUGE!!! Every step in the right direction is an achievement and you are right to be proud of what you are doing - join the club!!!

Good morning all, I'm 64, 5'1" and weigh in at 275 lbs right now - lost 44 lbs so far and a whole lot more to lose!! Hit a plateau and realise now that I need to exercise more, have started walking and will continue with that till I feel I can do more....its a good feeling to have support from people of a certain age!!…

Every last one!! It keeps me busy and stops me thinking about food so much, lol. Seriously I think I have found my maintenance level - been on a plateau for about a month now, gonna get some serious exercising done while the good weather holds!!
-
Add me - I've been dieting for around 50 years, been soo successful that I am here lol!! Seriously, the more support the better and its so nice to get that text message that says 'well done'. Its never too late and you can always make a difference!!
-
I also weigh everything, I feel I have some control when I weight stuff - if I go over my calories then its easier to see why!! It does get easier and weighing and logging is a constant reminder that I am in control - and that motivates me so much!!
-
Me too - I can't resist picking in the evening so I save some for snacking then - MFP is perfect for keeping track and NOT cheating too much!!
-
I would rather eat smaller amounts and enjoy my food - the only thing I eat that I quite dislike is salad, usually for lunch. I wanna save my calories for an enjoyable evening meal.... thats what keeps me going!!
-
Jumping jacks? Explain please...
-
Me too!! Near Nottingham so I know I qualify, lol
-
I also weigh most days, always first thing in the morning and always more towards weigh-in day... I guess its just the nature of the beast. I do not get upset if I do not lose (been having that struggle for about a month now) because I am determined to do this thing. I will be a winner for a change!!

I'll be your friend. Joining MFP makes us smart *kitten* while we stop being fat *kitten*!!
-
Tomatoes and lettuce, how good am I?? Where's my halo!!
-
I put the carbs up as I understand that is what you need to burn when exercising - I took the protein down a little to compensate
-
This is a tough one, I can list a ton of things that other people don't like about me.... I guess the one thing I am most proud of is always being there for family and friends - I never judge, I am just always there for them

5'1" and trying to lose at least half my current weight!!

Hi Barbie, nice to have a group that caters specially for me! Here are my July goals: To get to grips with increasing my calories To get a proper exercise regime in place To understand better how my body uses calories To lose 7lbs To stop feeling like a failure because no other diet has worked for me long term Thats it for…

I'm in a place where walking is all I can do, so for now that's where I am starting. I might do other things when my body shape is a little more 'acceptable'....
-
Tattoos? You must be joking, I was in my 30's before I got my ears pierced!!
-
Watching The Biggest Loser UK or US - any country will do. I identify with the one about my shape/size/weight and see how much better they look and how much happier they are when they've lost some....
-
Oh man if laughing uses calories then I can eat a big slice of chocolate cake for free!! That puts everything into perspective, lol
-
I've had a couple of the older style minis and then got a brand new black one - on my second one now, its red with a white roof - ther is no other car like it!!

I am based in yhe UK and as I am a vertically challenged lady (5'1") there is onloy one car that fits - I drive a MINI COOPER and I love it to bits!!!

I love food, thats why.. I use it as a reward. I am bone idle. OH NO!!! Thats how I USED to be. Now I regard food as the enemy (within reason) and I can't waste any more time being so unfit. I will win this one, bring it on!!!

Welcome, this is a brilliant site - lots of feedback from friends to help you along. I find the best bit is recording what I eat, you can't go wrong and its so easy to keep a check on each meal as it comes.... its the only diet I haven't cheated on and I have a whole lot more weight to lose. Just remember, you can do it!!!
