I thought it would be more the number of steps taken rather than the speed - I just walk and walk and walk... gonna join a gym for the variety and expertise I need but am happy plodding along, putting one foot in front of the other

I have always loved cheese, I have reduced the amount I eat as its high calorie, high fat and has salt... but I do still eat it!!

Just remember Winston Churchill (I am gonna paraphrase here but you'll get the idea) Woman: Winston you are drunk Winston: Madam, you are ugly - but I will be sober in the morning NOW is the time I am losing all the weight, I will still have the pretty face AND the wonderful personality, they will still be mean and nasty…

I'm 64 and have never exercised, (am about to join a gym) all I have done is calorie control and walk, walk walk. Its better than nothing and at least I get some fresh air!! I hit a plateau for over a month and the only thing that got me going again was a meal out - I ate everything I wanted, over 2,000 calories!! I walked…

Start slow, run/walk/run, good trainers. I just bought some New Balance 660ladies, they also do a wide fit which I need. Try to buy from somewhere that can advise you properly... and good luck!!

I did a lot of research and settled on the Polar FT2 - its one up from the most basic but it has all I need. It has a chest strap (very comfy) with a coded transmitter which should cut interference out. I'm in the process of joining a gym so have not really used it yet but I am looking forward it it!!

You can add me if you like. I have a long, long way to go and am still surprised at how motivated I am - we all need some encouragement to keep going sometimes - and pushing when we feel like slowing down!! Lets do this together

I am in the UK and am considering joining a gym - I'm going to see one soon, thegymgroup.com are a few miles away and are currently offering £10.99 per month - I'm 64 years old, weigh in at around 265lbs (19st5lbs or so) and have never been to a gym ever!! I really worry about my body shape and what people might think/say…

I get that this is a privately owned site but then why have forums if people aren't allowed to truly express themselves?? Its a bit of an oxymoron, don't you think?? I will continue to express my views (I also get that people died so I can have this freedom of speech) and if that offends then so be it.... :ohwell:
-
Oh dear, impossible you say? Then how come I have lost 46lbs at age 64?? I think you are never too old to grab back control of your life and eating habits. I am starting to exercise slowly and actually beginning to enjoy it. Never give up, never surrender!! It can be done, it will be done!!!

I have a problem with the perfumed ones and have always used the Mum unperfumed. I recently tried the Boots one bit it smells pretty bad and made me sore so have gone back to Mum
