I am so glad that you are starting your journey in your 20s rather than in your 50s. Be very patient and enjoy yourself! To change your life style and your eating habits that you developed over your life time will not happen over night. Your in this for the long haul. But you must make it fun and not impossible. For…

Leg lifts that tone outer thighs. Variety is always best so that all muscles are supported.

Congrats on your weight loss. Tone, tone, tone. There are DVDs that have 12 - 15 minute lower body workout. Running of course will usually do it. I like to use exercise band and tie one end to a pole, the other end to my ankle and do lateral moves. This helped me on my saddlebags.

Yes, Runner's World is online and you can access it for free. They also have articles about finding the right shoe.

A running store that specializes in special fit is always a good start. But don't feel obligated to "settle" for a pair because that is all they have to offer for your foot type. (Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince.) Sometimes you have to try a lot of brands and models to find the shoe right for…

I have one of her DVDs. I haven't done it in a while but it has about 5 different levels of walking. So it would be like judging the beginners level as easy to more advanced as "brisk."

I think we do. That may be why we eat more when it is cold than when it is hot. Our bodies crave food to build up fat stores to protect itself......I am guessing.

That is a tricky one. Lot of walking but lot of stop and start and stand, etc. Would it be leisure walk 2.0 pace? Might under estimate your walking to be on the safe side. But I think it can be included to some extent. I have a set down job, in front of the computer, all day. So that would not work for me.

My Mother is a registered dietitian. She will get a little desert bowl and put low fat cereal and skim milk to tie over hunger. Milk products are good before bed time. (ie. low fat cottage cheese.) Never eat meat, heavy spice or alcohol before you go to bed. It will mess up your sleeping and might give you heartburn.

If I go to Arby's, I usually get French Dip Sub which is about 640 calories. No fries. If you must get fries, two potato triangles is a serving and way less than curly fries. The italian sub is over 800 calories. Looks are so deceiving. :noway: .

I LOVE THEM!!!!! I was in the habit of eating lunch out too much during the work day. I now sometimes bring them to work but most of the time I go home for lunch and pop them in the microwave. My personal favorites are Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine. I love Healthy Choice lemon pepper fish. But I don't care for the Lean…

They say more muscle burns more fat. So if the scales don't budge, check your measurement to see if you loose inches or clothes fit looser. Muscle weighs more than fat but our ultimate goal should not be what the scales say. How we look and feel. I think your doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

LOL! Me too!

Stress can sure play tricks with your mind! I know that working ER and being a Mom is super tough! If anything, focus on nutrition and sleep. This alone can pull you through. I haven't been able to exercise much because of injury. But I am slowly loosing weight and inches by changing my eating habits. I believe fruits and…

Keep up the great work!

One more share....when I was 19 years old, my college roommate was a runner and very slender. I wasn't. I started counting calories and jogged about 15 minutes and worked up to 30 minutes a day. I never did several miles like she did. My calories were anywhere from 1300 to 1900. I even counted fruits and vegetables as 0…

The scales definitely don't tell the whole story. Muscle does weigh more than fat. If you monitor your tape measurement like you do the scales you might be surprise. Also what type of food are you eating might have an effect. Also how close are you to your idea weight? The closer you get, to your idea low weight, the…

My husband and I have two scales. I think we both weigh just about every day! For my point of reference, I weight myself in the morning after I empty my bladder. If I appear to lose a pound, I won't document it until it is the same 2-3 days in a row. Same way if I gain a pound. This is for consistency. Take in…

I looooooove sweet potatoes! I tried this recipe one year but it didn't turn out right. It was canned yams, orange juice and raisins. I ate it but it was very watery and did not look presentable to my guest. I liked it even tho it barely got touched. It came out of a quick and easy cook book but do not know if I still have…

I'm from OK too. Unfortunately, we don't have access to that cool stuff. K City might have it. But mainly its sold on the East coast. I sometimes document "Trader Joes" on my food diary but its only because I can't find the exact brand I am looking for on that particular food.

Great job! Every day is a small victory!

Don't get discouraged. Sometimes the sizes and brand vary. I finally slimmed down to wear some of my old clothes that I probably should gave away 4-5 years ago. I have a size 10 that fits like a 14 and I have a size 10 that fits like an 8. I am afraid to get rid of my larger sizes for fear that something will happen and I…

My husband has the exact thing! I think its either muscle or excess abdominal fat that is distributed there by hereditary. Maybe a combination. I doubt your doing anything wrong. Keep up the good work! If it bothers you, might ask you doctor next time you have a visit. But I doubt its anything to be alarmed about.

We all have a bad day here and there. Maybe set some goals for the next day. Plan ahead and prepare your meals and snacks for the next day. Make a one time commitment for tomorrow such as, :I am going to drink more water" or "I am going to go walking around the block a few times - no matter what." For me, tonight I am…

If you feel great, you are probably not doing any harm. Just make sure you get your water and plenty of rest. Too much working out and staying up too late can wear down your immune system. So as long as your getting your 7-9 hours a sleep, I say go for it!

My 10 year old actually loves passing out candy. He has chose to do this over going trick or treating for 3 years now. I think it is really sweet. He is also a health nut for such a young age. What bothers me is some of the kids who slam on our door loud and rudely. It makes me not want to do it just because of their…

That is so awesome! Its a good feeling isn't it? I am finding that I can fit into some of my clothes in my closet for the first time in 4 -5 years. Should of threw them out long ago but now they are coming back in style. LOL! Got the skinny leg pants too.

Great comments! There is also something about whole wheat and brown rice helping your insulin to rise and lower gradually. Good thing for diabetics perhaps.

My mom is a registered dietitian and I took some classes in college in related areas. Your diet is not something I would like personally, but I think it looks okay. I have learned from past experience that you can never eat too many fruits and vegetable. They may have calories but they are not "fat" calories. (With the…

Wow! So much information! I haven't read every detail but just wanted to share that muscle weighs more than fat. Measure yourself with a tape measure to see the difference. Your clothes will tell something too! As far as running and lifting weights I am for both. Its called cross training. Just remember to take a day of…
