THANK YOU!!! i've seen so many "what am i doing wrong" posts and they've only been at it for 2 weeks. the math is never going to precisely correlate with what you see on the scale.

if this dude and this chick only recently broke up and your sister may be dealing with a grieving friend, i would evaluate things. you don't want to create a situation for your sister or have it effect your relationship with your sister. but if its old news and/or your sister doesn't care, then go for it.
-
bingo.
-
talk to your sister about it. if she's cool with it, then go for it. if she's iffy about it, convince her to be cool with it. if she's downright AH HELL NAH about it, then you may have a dilemma.

read a little closer. she was living off the calories from the coke. she was barely eating.

uhm, and the sugar.

enjoy the increased energy! :) (seriously).

your body requires water / proper hydration to function properly and optimally. can't understand why this is a question.
-
i wonder if she logged it as water?..
-
this, and also-- are you eating a crap load of sodium? and, are you certain your calories in / calories out measurements are correct? lastly, be sure you're getting enough micronutrients. i am on a pre-natal and it makes a world of a difference.

you've failed to give one key piece of information--- what are your current stats / what is your current TDE (before excercise).

from the mayoclinic's website: Caffeine: Is it dehydrating or not? I've been seeing ads that say cola and coffee drinks hydrate you as well as water does. Is this true? Answer from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D. It is true. Researchers used to believe that caffeinated drinks had a diuretic effect. This means that you would…

bearkisses-- i've tried arguing this using your same point several times. its pretty futile.
-
anyone got any links to scientific studies that show coffee hydrates you? seriously, i'm genuinly curious. i am a very regular coffee drinker. i have one medium sized mug every morning. and i'm pretty sure it squeezes me dry. if i don't drink enough water to counteract the coffee, i will feel extremely dehydrated.

string cheese hummus & sliced red peppers pretty much hummus and anything. i love hummus.

i have very bad knees, i am supposed to have surgery on both to correct but i haven't gone through with it. my issue is that my knees don't track properly, and with being a cross-country & track runner and soccer player when i was younger, the damage was severely accelerated. my 3 favorite forms of excercise are: 1. spin…

constantly trying to "educate" her on healthy foods, portion control, calorie counts, ect very likely will cause her to resent you. be gentle with those things, and don't feel like you need to educate her every day. instead, you need to, first, have a serious talk with your husband. don't be afraid to hurt his feelings,…

as someone who has experience in this field, psychiatric diagnoses are often given out too soon. to the OP: i am so glad you listened to yourself and that you advocated for yourself. depression is most commonly a symptom, NOT the root disease. throwing a prescription for an antidepressant at you can make it worse, needless…

what other people have said are good thoughts... more nutrients from actual food, making sure you're getting enough sleep, are you exposed to children or high risk populations (i.e. work in healthcare), ect. but, one thing I will throw out there that I didn't see anyone mention-- make sure you don't have any toxic mold in…

watch your sodium. i'm not sure of what kind of food choices you're making, but if you're eating high sodium foods and you increase your calories by 500 calories, you could very well be adding a ton more sodium, which will reflect on the scale. if you're sure sodium is not the problem, try upping your protein and your…

hot sauce! :)

i guess it all depends on how big a lifestyle change you're needing/wanting to make. you can constistently make good food choices and hit your macros and micros while giving yourself the occasional treat/splurge. never did i say you need to give up everything you love for the rest of your life. but to tell a girl who's…

yes, the mechanics of weight loss are simple. but what kind of weight you're losing, and your chances of putting weight back on is GREATLY affected by where those calories comes from.
-
i've seen it on here a million times.. the whole "you can eat whatever the hell you want, as long as you are under your TDEE, you will lose weight." i effing hate reading that.

^ | | if you want to lower your metabolism and threaten your muscle mass and overall health and risk gaining EVERYTHING back and then some, follow this advice. if you want to lose MORE FAT RATHER THAN MUSCLE MASS, increase your metabolism, and increase your health, then don't. the choice is yours.

also, what volcangreen said. you should get acquainted with the glycemic index, and how it effects your body and your weight loss efforts. also, if you eat carbs with a meal (the lower glycemic index the better), incorporating plenty of protein along and fat along with your carb will lower the original glycemic index of…

EAT FAT!!! (but keep your calories the same.) great sources: nuts fish avocados olive oil in order to properly and fully absord protein, your body needs dietary fat along with the protein. your body NEEDS fat. to lose fat, you need to eat fat.
