Good for you! Look, I am not overweight, never have been. I don't have a bunch of weight, either from fat or water, to shed. The weight I want to lose is more like those "subborn last 10 pounds" that so many people have a hard time losing. I tried counting calories for MONTHS (4, to be exact) only to lose a pound a week,…

Good for you! I had Papa Johns pizza for lunch AND dinner last Saturday! :D I love my once a week "whatever days".

Whatever makes you happy! I am small, too (34B, and sometimes, when new bra shopping, a 34B will be too roomy in the cup). My mother and younger sister both have breast implants. I wanted to get implants soooooo bad in my late teens and early 20s. But, I have to say, I grew out of it, and don't want them anymore. I love…

We can agree to disagree, that's fine. I personally don't find a meal that has carbohydrates as 50% to 60% of its source of calories condusive to fueling your furnace. I'll stick to my plateau free, furnice fueling, stable energy level providing, hunger satisfying and appetite suppressing low GI meals and snacks. I've been…

1 gram of fat and 3 grams of protein to 40 grams of carbohydrates doesn't count, man. now you're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

So, basically, you're saying that you like to compare apples to oranges for the sake of trying to win a conversation? fail.

"However, put some butter on it, or some peanut butter, or some turkey breast, and you've now completely changed the glycemic impact of that lowly piece of white bread." You are correct. Mixed meals do improve the total glycemic index of the meal. I appreciate your response, but here is where I find argument: "Nobody eats…

I hear ya. What a lot of people do not know, either from lack of knowledge or just simple denial, is that protein and fat are converted into glucose, its just converted at a much slower, steady, reliable, and appropriate rate. This eliminates the damaging fat-loss sabotaging insulin surge, while still providing the glucose…

When we eat, our body converts digestible carbohydrates into blood sugar (glucose), our main source of energy. Our blood sugar level can affect how hungry and how energetic we feel, both important factors when we are watching how we eat and exercise. It also determines whether we burn fat or store it. Our pancreas creates…

What I explained will work for everyone. What you seem to be advocating (quality and source of calories not being of any significance), will not work for everyone, and is not recommended by any standards.

Agree with Anne Taylor and The Limited!! I'm tall and on the pear shape side... big bootie and thick thighs, with a small waist. Ann Taylor and The Limited are the only jeans I buy! I've found that these two brands are the only ones to slim out my bottom half nicely without discomfort or awkward looseness in the waist and…

Sheesh, this thread got heated. Look, its all about moderation, I'm pretty sure we can all agree on that. Seems like this thread has turned into an argument about sugar/carbs... Some people saying sugar should be kept at a minimum, others calling that blasphemous and yelling about how they eat ice cream or cookies every…

YES!!!!! It most CERTAINLY matters where your cals come from!!!! I have seen so many people say "a calorie is a calorie"... this couldn't be further from the truth. I would most definitely attribute your frustration to your sugar intake. I have a challenge for you... for ONE WEEK, have your net carb intake be 15-30% of…

Protein shake or protein bar, a string cheese, a few slices of turkey, cottage cheese, edamame, a hardboiled egg or two, a small handful of almonds-- anything high protein, has some fat in it, and isn't high in carbs. PROTEIN IS THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT SATISFIES HUNGER AND SUPPRESSES APPETITE.

PROOOOOOTEEEEEEEIN. and a good amount of dietary fats, too. I've seen this question many times on these boards. Usually, after looking at their food diary, the number one source of calories in their diet is carbohydrates.

me too! :D (the big butt)

I'm between an A and a B. Most bras I'm a 36 B, but every so often, if I'm bra shopping, the B will be a bit too roomy in the cup. Proud card-carrying member of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee since, well, puberty.

When I was younger, for my first few years of college, I struggled with an eating disorder. I applaud you for your honesty and for your reaching out. That's a big thing! And congrats on the weight loss! But it sounds like to me that you have developed an ED mentality, because of your fear of eating. I would agree and say…

I TOTALLY just printed this. THANKS!!!!

2 hard shell beef tacos, with all the trimmings. 2 fried fish tacos, baja style. With a hearty side of warm chips and queso and salsa. (I can put some food away!) :) mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I take a grain and starch free approach, with low sugar. my sources of carbs usually include: nuts and unsweetened peanut/almond butter naturally occuring sugars in dairy berries (in my protein shakes and sometimes salads) tomato avocado hummus lentils and last but certainly not least, a TON of all sorts of starch free…

There are different types of "hunger". There's "belly" hunger, where you feel hungry in your stomach, and there's "body/brain" hunger, where you're low on physical and/or mental energy, despite not feeling hunger in your stomach. I would suggest really listening to your body in determining if you need to eat. How's your…

I don't see it as a "problem", as long as you're not going over your calories and you're making good choices. Dinner has always been my main source of calories for the day, and I sometimes if I have calories left over or if I'm just hungry or "deserve" a little somethin somethin (usually that mean its my TOM) I will have a…

Yeah, I also hate it that kids have to be sent to school with clothes on. This evil sneaky dictatorship must be stopped!

1. Sashimi!!-- salmon and tuna. 2. Grilled/broiled salmon! 3. White fish such flouder, pollock, perch, trout, cod, tilapia, halibut: FISH TACOS!!!! Healthy fish tacos (The endulgent way to make these is to batter and fry the fish. To save of calories, grill/broil the fish): After cooking the fish, place in 6 in corn…

The only thing in a multi that you can get "too much of" is iron, however, if you're a female, its pretty darn hard to get "too much" iron. Men should probably opt for an iron-free multi, but I'm pretty sure all men's multis are iron-free. But the negative effects of too much iron is only a concern if its a chronic/every…

Personally, when my activity is low, I keep the carbs low. That staves off any weight gain. Carbohydrates are for energy. If you are not expending much energy, you do not need a lot of carbs. A calorie is NOT just a calorie. Was your sugar /starch/salt intake high? But, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I had to travel…

Even the fruits and vegetables on school lunch menus are processed. Sorry, but I don't count canned and sweetened fruit as a serving of fruit. Its a serving of "hey let me make your child fat while we be cheap and save money and cover our *kitten*. We really don't give a damn." Tater tots are not a vegetable. Students…

ABSOLULUTELY YES!!!! I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). My anxiety also gives me pretty bad temporomandibular joint disorder due to clenching and tightness. Eventhough I have a custom mouth splint that I am supposed to wear at night, excercise is the number one thing that helps me!! I don't like being medicated,…
