Do what you have to do. Also try carbonated water/seltzer. No calories but the fizz feels like soda in your mouth.

OP, you didn't mess up. You made choices. You ate some candy. No need to condemn yourself. Count the calories and make different choices for your next meal. One day off of exercise isn't going to derail you. We all take days off. You didn't do anything wrong. You have no reason to feel bad. You control your feelings and…

For juice fasting, check out the movie "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead." It's available free on Hulu.com and on Netflix. They also have a site www.jointherebbot.com.

I mean this in a supportive manner. If you can't manage 1200 calories a day, then how did you gain weight in the first place? If you are overweight, I think you must have the ability to eat a much larger number of calories in a day. There is very little real estate between 900 and 1200. That's an extra chicken breast and…

I think it's possible. Get serious about your food. Cut out some of the processed food and eat more natural whole foods. Switch up your workout routine. Add some HIIT. Try a few weeks of low carb. I would follow the recommendation of your nutritionist. Those calories seem to be in line with your goals. Good luck.

1. Try doing low carb induction for 2 weeks. I noticed you mentioned soda and cookies. You could have a problem with carbs. 2. Start estimating your exercise calories conservatively. By estimating high, you're only playing games with yourself. 3. Cut out some of the processed foods and fast food for a few weeks. 4. Switch…

Why choose? Both are great options. If you can get outside to walk, then do that. When you can't make it out, do the tape. Either way, you're still getting in good exercise.

Some people just want to feel bad about themselves. The number on the scale is just...a number.
-
If you think it's impossible, then it will be impossible. If you think it's achievable and don't give up no matter how hard it gets, then you will get there. That simple.

Pedometers take stride length into consideration when deciding what counts as a step. With walking in place, there is not a real forward stride. Hence, the numbers will never jive.

Yeah, but just because one person loses xx amount of pounds and inches doing a workout has no real relation to how your body is going to respond to the same workout. Add in different body composition and eating, and it's all a crap shoot. **shrug**

If you read the reviews, people have been successful. It's exercise so it's going to be beneficial. My only concern is that it's only 20 minutes long. I'm not sure if it's considered HIIT or not. I'm not a fan of short workouts. I generally need more.…

Have you sought any treatment for your depression? Emotional eating is one thing. True depression is a medical condition that requires treatment.

I'm planning on doing the Down & Dirty Mud Run in NYC in September.

No they don't. They only require what is standard for the type of workout. If you're doing a step workout, then you need a step. Makes sense. If you're doing a strength training workout, then you need dumbbells, barbell, etc depending on the workout. You can also substitute bands, etc. If one is serious about being a home…

Type in "starvation mode" into the search box. You'll see a bunch of threads. Folks post at least 2-3 new threads a day about this. Bottom line: some people believe in it and some people don't. There are studies on both sides of the issue.

Exercise DVDs. You can get a full cardio and strength training workout in the privacy of your own home. Check out www.collagevideo.com to preview a variety of videos to see what you may like. They have video clips. I'm a fan of Cathe Friedrich's videos.

Fruit are carbs. If you want low carb, stick to veggies only.

Keeping the weight off is more about the food and not the exercise. Keep your eating in line and you'll be fine. If all you can do is the treadmill, then increase the incline to add a little intensity.
-
Pick one. Move on. A few calories here and there is not enough to stress over.

BUMP!! If anyone is looking for an alternative to Jillian Michaels, definitely check out Cathe Friedrich. She is excellent and does comprehensive workouts. She does everything from simple cardio to heavy weight lifting for women. If you go to her site, click on title and you can watch extended previews of all of her…

You've been through a traumatic event. It's only been a few days. Having lingering feelings of depression is natural. Give yourself time to recompress. While you're taking care of your daughter, don't forget to take care of yourself. Eat and try to get some sleep. If you need to, ask a good friend to take your daughter for…

It's possible. Exercising "breaks down" muscles. In order to heal, the body retains a bit of extra fluid. It will go away in a day or two. Sounds like you have delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_onset_muscle_soreness Recently, after a tough workout, my scale shot up 5 pounds.…

I think you'll be okay either way. Wear the HRM and eat back those calories i you want. Even if it's a little off, the calorie differential won't throw you off track if your eating is in line.

I generally support sporadic, planned, short term fasts. I don't believe any of the talk about "toxins."

If you love your carbs, plan them, space them out.
