You aren't going to lose all your muscle if you take a few days off. Rest your knee; ice it down if you have any selling. Since you can't do lower body work, when you get back on your feet, do upper body and abs.

It's not meant to be a "lifestyle." It's a pre-planned period of fasting. There is a long history of fasting for a variety of reasons including spiritual and health reasons. No one fasts for their entire lives. There's nothing wrong with taking a few days or few weeks away from food. It helps to regain control. Look at how…

I would definitely go see a doctor. Make sure you explain that you have an eating disorder. Your electrolytes could be off or it could be anemia or a host of other complications. How much are you eating on a daily basis?

Food is great. Supplements can help. No problem there.

I take a sublingual B-Complex. I feel like I get an energy boost. I try to take it 30 mins. before working out. Here's a link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spring-Valley-Dietary-Supplement-B-Complex-Sublingual-Liquid-20-fl-oz/10324975?findingMethod=rl

It's a start. After you master those videos, you may eventually will want to go up in weight or try a different program. I find the JM videos too short for my taste. There are a lot of toning videos out there for women. I would actually recommend that you look into Cathe Friedrich's video. Here's a link to her toning…

We live in a real world. Your body is real. What you weigh is real. HOWEVER, how you interpret and deal with that number is a CHOICE. You can choose to get all emotional over a number or you can choose to place it in proper perspective. YOU control your feelings. If you can stand against a vertical measuring stick and see…

I incorporate fast days into my program. I generally use protein shakes. Other times, I'll do juice fasting. Make sure you are getting nutrient rich protein shakes. Brian, I do it as a part of my calorie cycling. I only do it a few days a month. One shake day every 7-10 days or so. Just to shake the body up. My shakes are…

I knew a family that only allowed their children to have sweets and junk food only on the weekends. That way, the kids ate good, health foods over 90%. They didn't mind because they knew they would get their weekend treat. They also had their kids involved in dance classes and sports. Don't freak and make it a big deal.…

Can't see your diary. Go over on protein is usually okay. As to carbs, reduce your sweets and bread. Read labels to see the sugar/carb content of the stuff you are eating. Cut down on processed food.

Top two tips: 1. Divorce your emotions from the scale. It's just a number. Not a judgment. You are more than a number. 2. Establish a weigh in day and only care about that number. My weigh in day in on Sundays. I also weigh myself daily and I see the ups and downs but I don't care. The only number that counts in the number…

It really doesn't matter though. The EPOC is still a relatively small percentage. After doing HIIT, the afterburn is like 14%. If you burned 308 calories during your workout, then you would only burn an additional 43 calories due to afterburn.

Weight loss surgery just changed your digestive system. It doesn't change your head or your eating problems. You still have to watch what you eat and exercise like everybody else. Has your doctor given you a calorie level to eat? From my research, that is usually 1000-1500 calories a day TOTAL. Are you eating within that…

Why not use the real thing. It's only a few extra calories since it would be distributed across the entire ham. It's not like you are drinking a glass of soda.
-
Gaining it back is about the food you eat; not the lack of exercise.
-
There is no best day. Choose a day and time and then weigh in on that day/time going forward.

Weight loss is about calorie deficit. You can still have a deficit without working out. I'll spare you the lecture.

One last question. How do gastric bypass patients lose hundreds of pounds on only 500-1500 calories? Shouldn't starvation mode kick in a day or two after eating so few calories?
-
What exactly did you "prove?" It's widely known that the body does indeed response to long term caloric reduction. There is a slow down in the metabolism. However, that doesn't mean that the body STOPS losing weight or stops burning stored fat. So what's your point exactly? If the body completely stopped losing weight…

We don't need another "Starvation mode" thread. You are going to believe what you believe. Others will believe what they believe. Let's give it a rest.

How old are your children? Can they do some of the chores? Can you get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning and squeeze in a workout? Can you get friends or family to take the kids while you workout? Can you cut out a little TV watching? There is no need to feel guilty about taking care of yourself? Reach out to friends…

Good for you to read every single label. Depending on what you've changed in your diet and activity level, your body is going through changes. It's conceivable that you may feel some emotional changes as well. You ought to feel good about reading those labels. Go ahead and cry if you want to.

If you are a chronic undereater, why are you doing a plan that is so low is calories? You're just going to do more undereating. Why not try cycling between much high calorie levels? If you normally eat 1100-1500, you could cycle between those amounts. You could really even cycle higher than that. No need to go down to 800…
-
The activity level is more of an overall life activity level. if you don't workout regularly or engage in any sports, you are most likely sedentary. No need to change it since running after children really doesn't count as exercise.
-
Exactly. With all this talk about starvation mode, people actually forget that there are entire cultures that live, work and play every day of their lives and never eat half of what Americans eat. The entire culture eats less than 2000 calories a day regardless of any physically activity. Are all of those people in…

Record the actual exercise but you can plug in your own calorie amounts. Or record them and set the calories to zero. That way, you still can track the amount of time you spent exercising.

MFP is only an estimate. To get actual numbers, you'll have to invest in a HRM, BodyBugg, or similar type product.

No need to defend yourself. No one is accusing you of anything. We were only trying to help pinpoint the issue of why you aren't losing. You can eat whatever you want. Different bodies react to certain things differently. Some people get results by cutting out processed foods because of all the sodium. Some people do great…
