Get used to it, because it works. Make sure that you get into the exercise part, because it's essential for losing fat, or, in your case, avoiding the heartbreak of regained weight. That being said, the question should be "Has anyone lost weight on 1200 calories or less and kept it off for say....3 years, 5 years. Thinking…

That is definitely an issue with weight loss. I used to think the compliments were lovely, until I realized that they didn't help me with "sticking with the program".... Nobody at the farmer's market where I sell my work said anything about my weight loss last year. When I got to the point where I'd lost 95lb, I was…

Did you think about the possibility that her mean spirited intentions could backfire on her or at least benefit you? Instead of letting her get to you and mess with your progress, use the pictures as reminders - you're creating a new picture of yourself. I don't really like the idea of vengeance as an incentive to lose…

Nobody should hate on anybody's comfort foods. If you need to cut down or cut out altogether, you'll know when, but if that's your one (or 2)indulgence, carry on...... my weakness is Sweetarts. They're going to destroy my teeth and I still haven't looked up their calories. I get off them for a month or so and then......I…

I fail to see what is the problem here? As long as you don't drop too many calories or refuse to exercise, you're going to lose fat and maintain most of your muscle or more likely build more muscle. This person could think of losing pounds as most or all fat lost (providing she/he is eating enough and getting some major…

I lost 20 lb in 5 hrs - after having an abdominal "jellyroll" removed (also known as a penniculectomy). Before people start jumping on me about having radical surgery before losing the weight first - I had a persistent infection in that area that nearly killed me and wouldn't quit. I had plenty to spare and after it was…

too old? I'm 59 and the first thing I wanted to do after getting rid of the abdominal roll that prevented me from even fitting behind the handlebars?? - ride a bike!!!! My 58 yo SO rides a bike every day and he's disabled with psoriatic arthritis that makes walking difficult, but he can ride all over the place on his bike.…

I don't worry about it. I have a gluten-free beer - usually when we're grilling outside. Those 2 just seem to go together. Occasionally, I have a bottle of wine, spread out over 4 or 5 days and as long as I don't exceed my calorie limit for the day, it has no ill effect. I find it easy to get enough nutrition without…

OH - and I might add - like others are saying - go really easy on yourself. Gradually ease into your more active self and don't get cocky and think you're a living miracle who can defy doctor's orders. That kind of behavior almost killed me.

I know personally how frustrating this is. When I came out of anesthesia, one of the first things my SO told me was that the pannus removed weighed over 20lb. So, I figured I was at least 20lb lighter than I'd been that morning, pre-surgery- that would have been 243. Within a few hours, a CNA offered to help me walk down…

You're fine. I lose it fast sometimes and slow sometimes and it all adds up to good news. If you know you're eating enough and not over doing it with exercise, then love the results and stop worrying.

One of my biggest motivations to lose weight was realizing that I weighed more than most football players - big, usually tall, beefy type MEN and I'm a little 5 foot tall woman with small bones.

I take 400mg of Wellbutrin a day and it gives me no trouble with losing weight. It doesn't totally control the depression and mood swings, but then - what does? I'd rather not have the side effects and I have none with Wellbutrin. Some people can't take it, but if you can, it's not only tolerable, it can be pleasant as…

Omelet - often... A recent house guest ruined my omelet pan (he believes that High is the only setting on the stove burners). I discovered that a lovely omelet can be made in a larger pan (the one we hid from the house guest).- it cooks up very thin and folds into thirds, allowing me to load it up with more "stuff" -…

All I know is that I lost 160 lb when I was in my early 30s and @ 59, I'm doing it again.... the only switch I made in exercise 27 years ago was between walking (I lived in a hilly area) or "riding" on my old (and very cute) Schwinn exercycle. I did so well way back then, that I recently tracked down an identical…

I'm walking per doctor's orders while recovering from surgery. I used to love to walk, did it regularly and easily. Now, I'm finding that my legs get tired after 10 min. and I'm not doing much more than 15-20min. It's better than nothing, but I'm thinking of the "old days" when I walked a min. of an hour at a time. It's…

For the record: I've never given up avocados. I love them too much and they are extremely nutritious. I work the calories in and don't regret it. Same for nuts. There is a point in this journey, when "filling up" stops being a goal and truly healthy food works for you regardless of the calorie count - it all balances out -

oh, I can relate to what the OP is saying, because I resisted the constant recommendation that I "count calories". I thought that since I have enough trouble with a lifetime of obsessive compulsive disorder that I just didn't need one more obsessive compulsion. Then, about 6 mos ago I read somewhere (somewhere reliable)…

This forum was well timed - I was told by my surgeon that I have to walk daily this month and in August join a gym - with a trainer. Besides not having the income to pay for this trainer (but I'll find a way), I too am terrified of walking in the door, expect the trainer to be a judgmental jerk and don't want to be around…

My water glasses and water bottles are 16oz., making it much easier to get enough. I find that I need to drink a lot more when I work outside and my work is not particularly strenuous (just mentally taxing because I work with kids). If I drink that much before I go on a long walk, I'm going to have to pee and there's no…

I avoid the topic by sticking to my diet - no potatoes for diabetics - too much sugar. Oh, how I miss them taters and my SO gets to eat them, but he usually does it when I'm not home.

1st thing and only after a dump and totally nekkid only. Lots of onlies. My Health-O-Meter balance beam scale (the old fashioned kind - not the short ones like they have now) - is one of my prize possessions.

Okay, fine - perhaps she meant to say MY 10 Commandments and it works for her. I disagree with most of them, but I defend her right to share without being slapped around by the self righteous.....

A doctor ( who did uncharacteristically have some training in nutrition) suggested that I try eating at least a small snack BEFORE I sleep - like a piece of cheese or small amt of meat with a small amt of carb. It has never caused a problem. I still wake up the next day weighing the same or less than the day before. I…

You have done such a good job, maybe you've got enough muscle mass to look good after losing less than 85 more - you'll know when you get there. Thank you for inspiring me to keep going. Made my day....

Oh, well, I thought this was a topic about mental health. That's very different. Nevermind....

I met him on April 12th. He messaged me at OKCupid. I took a quick glance at his profile and saw something about God and, since I'm Atheist/maybe Agnostic I decided to pass and sent him a polite "I think we would definitely not get along" note". He wrote back to tell me that I was wrong and I wrote back listing some of my…

Yeah, take it from a very old off and on vegetarian - your body just wants to adjust. Keep up the good work, add a little rice, don't stop drinking your water or eating lots of veggies. It's just an adjustment.

I think this country is just too damn big, Kyle. There's a price to pay for all this "diversity" and it's kind of ironic. The hardest aspect to deal with is the lack of organization and ability to work together among Democrats and other liberals (I'm an "other"). We are a huge majority compared to the Republicans and other…
