Can some white-wine with dinner be ok, or can it hinder

new lifestyle progress?
I love to have a glass of white wine(Pinot Grigio is a fave)while I am cooking dinner and then one with dinner. I did this last night for the first time since I started this journey in May. So I measured it out and had 12 ounces altogether. I looked up info before I had the wine and found that if you have wine you need to exchange it for a carb that you might be having with dinner. Like if I were having a potato etc. I would instead leave that off the menu and have the glass of wine. Ok, so I did that with 2 different carbs for the day. Instead of toast with my breakfast I had the extra room for another glass of wine. No I didn't have a glass of wine with breakfast,
Ok you get the idea. Could I get some feedback on other's who enjoy a glass or two of wine and how they count it in their daily calories and also, have you noticed any problem in weightloss (it's literally almost the only "sugar" I have except for a tbsp of br. sugar with my oatmeal just in case you are wondering) and/or feeling a lack of energy in your workout the next day? I didn't today, with my workout but I guess I just want to know that this isn't going to blow my whole program since things are going so well. If I find out this is ok, I will go back to doing this 2 times a week. If not, I won't buy anymore wine and be really sad, LOL!!

2 times a week sounds reasonable. I'd try it out and see how you do. I believe in all things in moderation and if you can fit this into your calorie budget, go for it.
I will say, I know when I was training for a long race (10 miles) and was also trying to lose weight at the same time I could definitely tell the difference when I'd trade food calories for alcohol (with no nutrients). I'd be a little more tired the next day and could feel a drag in my runs.
That was quite a few years ago. This time around I'm not working out as seriously and have been able to fit drinks in now and again with no real ill effects.0 -
I'm interested to see responses here because I found that drinking two glasses of wine a night regularly prevented me from losing weight. Mind you, I would eat the same on those days as when I didn't drink my calories, but I wasn't tracking what I was eating then. All the wine went right to my belly when I wasn't eating healthy, but when I started to change my eating habits, I lost 15 pounds quickly while abstaining from alcohol and that ground to a halt when I started again.
Edit to add: I drank wine wine maybe 3 or 4 nights a week though.0 -
I only really drink at the weekends, but I regularly have 3 or 4 half-pints of cyder and/or wine and I simply count the calories and that's that.
Then again I don't obsess over carbs/sugars/fat etc
I've lost 60lbs.... I don't think enjoying a drink has hindered my weightloss in any way shape or form.0 -
Ok, I think this is good advice, try it out and see how I feel. Thank you so much for your help;) denise2 times a week sounds reasonable. I'd try it out and see how you do. I believe in all things in moderation and if you can fit this into your calorie budget, go for it.

Thanks for your input, I am curious too. I hate to think I can't have a couple of glasses of wine once in awhile but like the first lady said, it is "empty" calories. I didn't think about that. denise:)I'm interested to see responses here because I found that drinking two glasses of wine a night regularly prevented me from losing weight. So this could be reason, only drinking a couple of days which is what I like and I can't drink more than 2 or I wake with a hangover. So again I am seeing "moderation" being the ticket, even with alcohol. Luckily I don't go in for any other sweets. I know I'm weird but I don't even like to have cookies, icecream or any of some of the usual treats other's like. I do like my Yogurt smoothee which is as sweet as I get, oh, and stevia in my morning coffee;)

When I know I am going out or planning to have a glass of wine at home, I just figure the calories into my daily plan. I'm meeting friens for Happy Hour today. Ive already perused the on-line menu and figure that a glass of wine and the hummus and pita will be my best options. Those calories will replace my usual afternoon snack and part of my dinner calories. Plus the hummus is healthy and filling.0

This sounds reasonable to me. Sounds like what I did exchanging the wine for a carb at dinner etc.
Thanks and your Happy Hour sounds like a great time:) deniseWhen I know I am going out or planning to have a glass of wine at home, I just figure the calories into my daily plan. I don't worry about it. I have a gluten-free beer - usually when we're grilling outside. Those 2 just seem to go together. Occasionally, I have a bottle of wine, spread out over 4 or 5 days and as long as I don't exceed my calorie limit for the day, it has no ill effect. I find it easy to get enough nutrition without eating 2,000 calories (my approx. daily when I have walked), so there's usually enough calories left over for an occasional beer.0

Yes, I'm seeing what I figured:) Moderation and stay within calories;) I sure appreciate everyone's help:) I feel better about having a glass or two. denise:)I don't worry about it.
