I like pushups, chin ups, seated triceps dips-- those work better for me than weights.

I usually find that a cup of hot herbal tea works wonders. I buy a variety of loose leaf teas to suit various cravings (mint chocolate rooibos, citrus, berry) and sweeten with a little Stevia. If that isn't enough, a glass of warm almond milk with cinnamon usually does the trick. I'm not an expert by any means, but these…

I'm also uber pale... Scottish ancestry is to blame in my case. I will occasionally spray tan in the summer, and I did for my wedding. I hate the smell of the spray tan solution, so I won't do it regularly. I just make the best of it, dress in colors that flatter my skin tone! The one thing about being fair-skinned, I…

I don't wear a ton of makeup, usually mascara, concealer and lip gloss. I'll go to the grocery store or Costco in sweats on occasion, but I'm more often than not in jeans and a t-shirt or sweater. The one thing I won't leave the house with is messy hair. Gotta have my hair done.

I love it! Congrats lady, keep it up :)

Your shins being sore= most likely shin splints. Ice them often (15 mins at a time) and avoid running until it settles down. Lots of times shin splints are either due to your shoes, poor gait (striking your heel hard to the ground as you run) or both. Saucony are great, as are New Balance. I know running shoes seem…

Married 2.5 years, together for 6. I'm married to my best friend, and I hope to stay that way til death do us part :)

I've got a 9-month old daughter, 2 dogs, I work two evenings and a weekend day per week as a massage therapist, and I'm taking my Master's degree. I used to find it difficult to be motivated to work out. For the last two months, I've been up at 6:30 each morning to do my Jillian Michael's DVD before the rest of the house…

Once a week, if I've got the leftover calories, I'll eat whatever the heck I want. Last week it was movie theatre popcorn with butter, the week before a brownie explosion from DQ. I felt super gross after both though, so I may have to tone it down to once a month!
-
I only eat them if I'm hungry, so about half the time. My usual workouts burn 300 calories, so not significant.

Way to go girl! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Between Feb 6 & March 1st, I lost 10lbs, and went from a 35" waist to 33" waist. This month, I'd like to lose another 10lbs, and am challenging myself to work out at least 5 days a week (in addition to walking my dogs each day)

Good for you! I'm in the same boat, except I gained all my weight after the wedding & during a pregnancy. This site is awesome, and for the first time I'm actually having fairly rapid success at losing. Add me if you'd like and we can keep motivating one another! :)

A bunch of my girlfriends & I are planning a trip over Christmas. Because we all live far apart, I don't plan to tell any of them I'm losing weight, and want to surprise them with my weight loss! They will all be so shocked!

Greek pasta toss: brown rice pasta tossed with sauteed onions, garlic, roma tomatoes, kalamata olives, spinach, fresh oregano... and topped with a little feta. Sooooo good.

Looks delicious! Can't wait to try this out on the weekend :)

That's awesome! You're doing great :)

I had my daughter last spring at age 25. Although the pregnancy was a surprise, I've really enjoyed being a Mom. I should probably add, I've been in Grad school since autumn 2010, so have had lots of extra on my plate (with being pregnant and now having a baby). We're not planning another baby yet, I'd like to lose this…

I'm doing a Master's in Physiology. I've literally been in school non-stop since I was in high school, lol!

Yes, poor body mechanics, whether caused by poor gait, poor posture, or improper footwear, causes shin splints. Glad to see a fellow marathon runner on here!
-
A lot of times shin splints are caused by striking the heel to the ground first as opposed to striking the balls of your feet first (which you should be doing). When you strike your heel to the ground first and then propel forward, a muscle along your shin (tibialis anterior) will stretch rapidly, then reflexively contract…

Girl, you look AMAZING!

I only eat the calories gained from doing exercise if I'm hungry. I believe the calorie goals for weight loss are based on your activity level (sedentary, active, etc), so they increase your calories if you do anything extra.
-
Looks delish! Can't wait to try these. Thanks for sharing :)

Wow! You look great! Congratulations!

You aren't alone! I'm 5'10" and I started at 248, now down around 239. Add me if you like, always looking for supportive positive friends :)
