That I really shouldn't venture back to the boards, it never ends well. ;)

I'd just like to register a self-righteous 'lifestyle over fad diet' comment in order to boost my perceived online persona profile. I hope it's received and my collective group 'common sense' approval rating appreciates accordingly.

I'm pretty much the same, probably an hour a night after work at a decent pace. Apart from taking stairs and habitually doing things 'the long way' it's my only regular form of exercise. The occasional bit of body weight resistance work too, mostly to impress the dog. I do it more to keep sane and unwind than to burn…

I'd just ignore it, we didn't get fat eating too many apples and bananas. ;) Too much other good stuff in fruit to sweat the fructose ... vitamins, fibre, etc.

If you burn more than you consume then the energy has to come from somewhere, fat or lean tissue. The trick being to maximise the fat loss, obviously, which I try to do by eating lean protein and some resistance work. There is thread around here about adaptive thermogenesis which is a very good read about how your body…

I'll go with Poison, they are still on my iPod.

Less bread and more tuna? I know people witter on about mercury in tuna but it's a staple for me, can't live without it ... spice it up and enjoy ... Eggs are good too, great filling food. Mmmmm, spicy scrambled egg, tuna and cheese ... I'm hungry now ... :) I used to be a carb monster but I find I can moderate more with…

Spectacularly sound advice. :)

That offer ticks all the boxes for me! Good luck to all shivering through the cold snaps, I'll be thinking of you as I float in the pool cradling a cold one. ;)

It was 110.48f (43.6c) in my back yard in sub-tropical Queensland on Saturday. This is not to be envied ... trust me. :) Closer to 30c today, better.

If your husband isn't someone that logs anything then maybe he wouldn't get anything out of it? Maybe a really cheap pedometer for him would do the job just as well? I've considered one to appeal to my geeky side but I have a daily routine that works and I enjoy, I know how far my walks are so no point really.

I confess nothing but am proud of everything! I stand in judgement of myself and myself only and I am here to tell you that I am PERFECT!

Indeed, all food is processed in some way, there is nothing wrong with mixing it up nutritionally. The whole militant 'clean eating' thing is way more weird for me than someone who chucks in a happy meal occasionally. Supersize Me was ridiculous, Fat Head was a good counter (and one I enjoyed at the time, even bought the…

Sure you can drop weight but would you want to give that corporation that much money in exchange for inferior nutrition? I'd rather gain a kilo and feed myself to be honest. :)

Ah, the Mark Sisson Carbohydrate Curve ... Such a work of utter stupidity ... I have a Grok t-shirt by the way ... The 'science' is still BS though. ;)

I drink red wine like a fish and never log exercise, I figure they'll cancel each other out. ;) Doubtless my fat loss progress would be better without it but my sanity would be shot. Hey, I'm in super slim fit shirts, chin chin!
-
Eh what? You can eat ANYTHING regularly and lose weight if you are in caloric deficit.
-
What is this 'work out' of which you speak? ;) I've never logged exercise or alcohol, I figure they'll cancel each other out. :)

I'm an IT developer, been doing it for 20 years or so, tried career breaks to move my focus but still I am here, doing it with some degree of success. But, in my heart of hearts, I know I am a creative writer. And I know my subject. But I know I am not ready to write, right now. But when I am, brace yourselves. :)

I started to make real progress when I deliberately built exercise into every day. The first 6 months on MFP were lacking this and I thought I could take shortcuts to where I need to be, not the case. I am not one to 'work out' but I have become fanatical about extending walks, taking stairs and generally doing things in…

I log every day, 1st Jan is just an arbitrary point in time. And time is an illusion in any case, lunchtime doubly so. ;) I'll be well into the red wine later as usual and not logging it, as usual. ;) Heading to the tennis with my daughter on 1st Jan (family tradition) so plenty of ice cream and junk to be logged ... Happy…

It does seem to be a silly concept. We only got married because the immigration people seemed to think it was a good idea and I couldn't stay in Oz otherwise. Romantic, huh? :)

I enjoyed the movie, maybe I'm a sucker but I found it inspiring. Not for the methods, I agree it is too extreme, unsustainable and unnecessary for most people, but I found the guy engaging and his influence on other people was healthier than, say, Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me). A caloric deficit will do it just as well…

I just wanted to say that you looked good before and after. :)

Yeh, eat and drink what you like but the energy deficit is king, no shortcuts, no magic, it's simple but not easy for most. I KNOW it starts in my head. My mindset. My fundamental being. I AM the sort of person that will choose better nutritional choices. I ABSOLUTELY AM the kind of person that will walk past train…
