Ice cream daily here, just not a lot of it :)

I did 9 months very low carb then switched to a more balanced deal for variety. I'm glad I low carbed as it seemed to sort out my incessant hunger issues. I can easily maintain a good deficit these days, sometimes my issue is getting enough food. I counted calories on low carb too, at the end of the day the deficit is the…

I started my nutritional/fitness journey many moons back with a précis of a Lustig lecture and that led me down the Taubes path but, having read the counter arguments at length I can agree with this, it's the old-fashioned energy gap. There ain't no one magic macronutrient factor, it's too much fork/mouth movement and not…

It averages around 1400 out of 1700 during the week, I like to run lean during the working day. Weekends it's a bit more balanced through the day.

I've logged every day for a year and a half, my counter doesn't show it as I was flooded in with no power or internet for a few days early this year, still kept logging the stuff cooked on the camping stove though :)

I'll be somewhere around maintenance in a month, maybe less. So my 3 month and year goals will be the same for fat, maintain the loss. Which, I think, is in some ways the biggest challenge any of us who have been big will face. On a different level I am aiming to live more in the moment, expand my horizons, need less and…

Another techie here, I'm treating it like a huge experiment. Tweaking the variables, seeing what works, taking feedback. I'm going to show the world I can look like a Men's Health cover model while simultaneously getting regularly drunk on 'empty calories'. I am basically a walking contradiction when it comes to health. I…

I eat a ridiculous amount of tuna I spice it up to give it some zing. I can recommend a tuna bake .... Tuna + Veggies + Tomato Paste + Spices covered in cheese and lobbed in the oven until golden. I'd chuck some sour cream in there for texture as well.

A common misconception and I believed this for a while too. It is entirely possible to pack on the fat in the absence of carbohydrate, there are other metabolic pathways that do no rely on the dreaded insulin (which, by the way, is not the evil 'fat storage hormone' some make it out to be). It took me a while to see the…

Not explicitly but you won't get far if you don't have one. Or create an energy gap with exercise, of course. No metabolic magic in lowering the carbs, some people will spontaneously eat less if they follow it though due to restricted food options and to some extent increased protein intake. it helps some people who have…

If I wasn't pissed as a fart I could probably absorb that, care about it and take action to move my life in a more animal-friendly direction. I may even research the validity of the argument, just for the hell of it. But hey, can't deny the prevailing conditions :)

Everything starts from the mind, everything ... Get the mind right and it all flows, I swear it. Smokers will find every justification to keep going ... I've been there and done it, I thought I'd lose my very personality by giving them up, I smoked because otherwise I'd be bored, etc. None of it is real.

Yeh, shock tactics, right on. My dad died of lung cancer thanks to smoking unfiltered roll-ups but guess what ... Mindlessly Parroting " Lung Cancer" will not make a jot of difference to making a committed smoker give it up even having seen their parent die of a smoking related disease. I assume most people are here to…

Even with an ironic cartoon reference this doesn't really help. ;)
-
Yeh, smokers know that.

On a purely anecdotal level and from 20 years experience, it's a great appetite suppressant. People quit and tend to pack on fat, that is pretty much the rule. But, if you can quit AND learn how to eat/exercise well then you'll be set for a better future all round. Allen Carr's Easy Way did it for me and started a chain…

If that hadn't been, broadly,my line of thinking around a year ago I would be laughing at that. As it is I am squirming a little uneasily in my seat and wondering what I was ever thinking. But hey, we are all learning, right? :)

As a slight aside I think it pays to know the difference between psychological hunger and physical hunger. It wasn't that long ago that I thought I had to eat every few hours or I was 'starving'. Since cutting the refined stuff for a bit (although I don't anymore) I am more in touch with what is real hunger and what is…

Bismillah no!

Nope, doesn't make any odds, I eat the vast majority of mine during the week in the evening, right up to bedtime sometimes. Crisp sandwich on white bread as a nightcap anyone? :)

In a sleepless, muscle-cramped, dry eyed, vegitative state, presumably ;) The logistics of consuming 'no carbohydrates' notwithstanding ...

For my morning commute it has to be shamelessly upbeat. Something as cheesy as ... Walking on sunshine (Katrina and the waves), Footloose (Kenny Loggins), Joyride (Roxette), Fiesta (The Pogues) ... Chuck some classic rock in there and away we go ... I lob in some more recent stuff too, just to pretend to keep up ;) And…

I hope not to regain the fat I have lost (again ... been here before) because: 1) Maintenance won't be very different from fat loss (nutrition and exercise wise) and I don't feel much deprived 2) I will be mindful about what I am consuming 3) I have put a lot of mental effort into this, the mind is right now, the…

Aye, there is no junk, just food. I eat/drink it all happily ...

Police Academy 4, because I'm weird.

I have settled into an 'every July' routine. But which bit of July? Dagnabbit, this health and fitness lark is complicated ;)
-
Anything that isn't a few push ups, playing cricket and walking a shed load. Because ... I dunno, just don't see the need.
-
Nope, neither am I a lunch person right now, I power through to around 7:30pm then eat and drink what the hell I like :)
-
I'm having cake tonight in sympathy, ignore the fools they are probably jealous that your getting in great shape and eating cake :)

Capital B, it's 'too' and you need a full stop. ;)
