  • I'm 5'6", about 205 and I run. I love the feeling that I get after a good run, nothing else can top that feeling. I got fitted for running shoes after I started to have shin pain (I've had stress fractures in my shins before and I will do anything to avoid that again) and having the right shoes helps a lot. They weren't…

  • It didn't make me too sore. More tired than sore because you aren't doing a million squats and lunges, but rather more cardio things like jumping jacks and squats jumps. The first two workouts resulted in me being fatigued, but nothing I couldn't recover from in a few hours. If you are active now, you shouldn't have too…
  • I second the Enell bra. About $60 for a bra, but worth every penny. I am a 36F and it works wonders
  • I have found that about 8 almonds helps reduce the hunger pangs. Probably the healthy fats and a wee bit of protein.
  • I had indian this past weekend at Himalaya in Sharpstown. It was yummy!
  • I am always tired when I get home. Dealing with high schoolers can really wear you down. What I really want to do every day is get into my sweats and take a nap. What I force myself to do is go work out. A run or an exercise video can immediately make me feel more energized. Also, I have noticed that ever since I dropped…
  • '97 4Runner with 190k. That car is my baby and hardly anything ever breaks. I had to get a new alternator this year and the mechanic said he'd never seen an alternator go to 180k. People keep telling me I need a new car, but I refuse. I'll drive it until it dies!
  • For Mexican food, the DH and I go to Los Cucos. It is right by our house and it has a lower-calorie menu with chicken quesdaillas stuffed with veggies and light cheese. I have no idea how many calories it is though. My favorite for the greasy factor is La Tapatia taqueria on Richmond and Dunlavy. Mmmmm, it is so good. We…
  • A calorie is a calories is a calorie. The simple rule is that as long as you eat at your MFP goal (which is a deficit) then you will lose weight. You could lose the weight eating french fries and hamburgers or you could lose it eating fruits and veggies. If you are over your calories, chances are you won't lose weight. I…
  • Lifting weights simply does not burn as many calories as cardio. But, that does not mean you don't get immense benefit from weight-lifting. More muscles increases your TDEE and lifting weights can strengthen your skeletal system.
  • 110 sounds about right. And walking IS cardio, just not as much as running or doing the elliptical. A good 30-45 minute walk 5 times a week will do great things for your heart health!
  • It is hard for me and DH to cook at home all week and not eat out because we are tired. Sticking to our weekly meal plan has been tough.
  • Use the search button that is above your first post. Type in "eating back exercise calories" and you will get a ton of answers. Some will be good, some will be bad. It's an oft-debated topic 'round these parts, but YOU need to make a decision after doing the research.
  • I'm doing the RNR Dallas half in March
  • Snooki, although probably not in a healthy way.
  • It is definitely an acquired taste/texture. I have tried the greek yogurt that comes with fruit in it and I don't think it tastes very good. The best addition I have found so far is to mix in a tablespoon of honey and a sprinkle of slivered almonds. Delish!
  • Meat Beans Eggs Greek yogurt Protein powder This topic has been discussed endlessly on here, if you use the search button, you can find a lot of ideas.

  • There two different types of ounces, one is by weight only and one is fluid ounces. Unless it is a liquid, measurements on MFP's food database don't use fluid ounces. 8 non-fluid ounces of berries is a lot, use grams or use a measuring cup.
  • For every 500 deficit calories a day, you will lose one pound a week. You must have your settings set to a two pound a week loss, which should be a 1000 calorie deficit, but MFP will not let you go under 1200. Two pounds a week loss and 1200 calories a day is difficult to maintain. If you feel you are having difficulty,…
  • Check out foodgawker.com. It has pages and pages of thumbnail pics of delicious food, you click on the link and it takes you to the food blog of the person who posted, with a recipe. The database is searchable and the pictures are amazing. I also second allrecipes.com, I set up a free account and also have a recipe box…
  • I don't have a non-headband solution for you, but I use sweatybands and they help me a lot. They are headbands that don't move when you workout. I even play soccer in them and they don't skip. I got some at Fleet Feet sports, but they have a website too, which I believe is www.sweatybands.com.
  • I tried the fancy organic stuff, but it was hard as a rock on the bottom, and no amount of stirring was going to change that. I switched to skippy natural. The ingredients are: peanuts, sugar, salt, and palm oil. I'm ok with that, and you don't have to stir it.
  • It gets easier, but may I suggest starting out with something a little less intense? If you do that workout after you have been sedentary for a long time, you are almost ensuring that you are going to get hurt by pulling a muscle or something. It took me weeks just to be able to run 10 minutes straight without being in…
  • Www.enell.com I play soccer and run a lot and I am a size F and this bra has been a lifesaver. It is expensive, but I have one that has lasted four years, I hand wash it once a week.
  • This sounds weird but I marinate them in an equal mixture of mustard and some sort of jelly, usually grape. Then I cook it in a pan with no oil and the rest of the sauce. It's pretty delish.
  • Great story, congrats on your awesome weight loss!
  • You can know if you measure its volume with measuring cups, or its weight, if you have a food scale. You will find that most successful, veteran MFPers utilize a food scale and measuring cups with every meal they make. It helps us to accurately know what a serving is. My guess is that your plate of spaghetti has two or…
