Never ever ever enough.

Have a goal bigger than just "I want to workout"

A weight class pr. Not quite the total I wanted but I'll keep building my total one meet at a time. As for the rest of it, I'll let the caption speak for itself. https://instagram.com/p/BTM3SJshIGA/

Just got some lightweight groove work in today, three days out. Watching some insanely skilled technical benching including the arch goals going on in the background. https://instagram.com/p/BTF2ANIhI40/

Seriously? If you really want to meet lots of men who will be stronger than you, get yourself into the strength sports.
-
It's about 30-45 minutes transit time. I pass so many gyms on the way but none of them are suitable to my needs

Bench. Always bench. Even when it's rough going.
-
So I really need to figure out exactly how big the booty is now cause it's smaller and I just need to pull my legs back more to keep it down. But 72.5 moving easy for triples and 87.5 while not easy moving the best since it was body weight. https://instagram.com/p/BSg2AnBh1CJ/

Normally yes, although the other lifts typically just hold steady. Every once in a while there is a magical training cycle and everything moves up at the same time.

Blushing. Benching is fun work. I'm so not motivated for squats or deads right now.

The start of the final push to peak for worlds is going well. 105kg to a 2 board. Definitely a body weight pr and I believe a lifetime pr as well. https://instagram.com/p/BSbxw-cBUIz/

All of this. I train in a competition rack so that my rack and safety height is perfect for me. I can safely unrack without a liftoff up to just over my max. But when I do supermax work (negatives and bench holds), I'll get a liftoff

All this.

I'm programmed for 5 days a week. Another day of prehab/correctives at home.

Shoulder is feeling better! 24 days out and starting to feel ready. https://instagram.com/p/BSOy1WvhqLW/

This. We know each other, greet each other, will record sets for each other and spot each other. Yup. Pretty much every work set for the big three gets recorded and reviewed. Most of the strength athletes do it so it doesn't stick out.

Honestly, first meet? Eat at maintenance and enjoy the experience. It's your first meet. No one but you is going to care how much weight is on your bars. You have a very long time to gain strength. Which can be done very well at maintenance on appropriate programming. Relax. Enjoy. Powerlifters are some of the coolest…

Just a bencher here

Honestly, I find that videoing is a far better way to assess form than looking in the mirror. I've been known to give death stares when someone walks in front of my phone while it's recording. Where people position themselves doesn't concern me at all. As long as they don't come close to my bars mid set. But then, most…

You're sick. Rest. You're desire for a workout does not trump everyone else's at the gyms not getting exposed.

My coach is amazing. I don't pay him because he's a great lifter. I pay him because he has the knowledge and experience to keep me safe and build my lifts. When it's called for, his programs push you to the absolute limits although that only happens when peaking for a meet. He knows how to get me perfectly primed, peaked…

I agree and disagree. I think if we want to make nationals the best of the best, it's better to set qualification standards based on what's actually happening in each age and weight class. If we want it so that only the top x percent have the ability to go, then set the standard so that is the case. It just doesn't seem…

I can't really agree with provinces selecting teams like that. Just looking at the 63's, because too two were Albertan. Who would we have sent? Christine won the weight class at provincials but Teresa didn't compete there because worlds was three weeks after. For so many athletes, nationals is the peak of their year and to…
-
Not Belarus. Texas for classic bench worlds. Absolutely. It's nice that 84 is finally becoming a competitive weight class.
-
Well nationals is in the bag. Overwhelming feelings are of pride. Learnt a lot, and so did my coach. Including that if I'm saying something is hurting, it's a sign to not drop an opener by a little but by a lot. And he knew to give me my space when I was sitting 0/2 on bench to get deep in the headspace I needed and knock…

I'm impressed. You actually spelt his name right. And yes, he knows a thing or two about pulling both sumo and conventional.

An accident on the bus actually. I'm just trying to look at it this way. If I hadn't have been holding on as tightly, I would have flown further and hit something and been injured worse. And if I had been holding tighter, I may not have fallen but my shoulder would be in far worse shape and I wouldn't have gotten medical…

Nope. Well, right leg was normal. Left is showing the effects of the minor sprain of the mcl. Having the overhead camera is awesome. I'm still in disbelief that my coach is finally actually talking about putting me in a shirt. And moving in my grip for raw. We will see if he actually follows through on the shirt though.
-
Sigh. Not the bench only meet I wanted. The looooooooooong wait for the start command killed my shoulder. But, I was able to keep my opener where I had originally planned for it and I saved my shoulder to bench again on Wednesday and then start meet prep for worlds. https://instagram.com/p/BRmgWHwhYs-/

Update time. At the beginning of last week, was in an accident not related to training. End result was a minor first degree sprain of my left mcl, and a first degree strain of all four muscles in my right rotator cuff. Exactly what you want to do two weeks out from nationals, right? Physio gave me clearance to lift at…
