Today was the first day of school for students, and since I am non classroom based I helped with arrival and dismissal. It was seriously hot and humid out today! So far I have managed to keep up with my exercise/ training and manage to make my lunch and breakfast the night before. Yesterday we grilled a bunch of boneless…

First day back for pre-service week. Managed to eat half a blueberry muffin, and not go back for the second half later in the day! I also didn't stand around talking all day, so I actually got some work done. How 'bout that?

Ironing??? No, Never, Not! Same goes for watching the news. I learned years ago (after 9/11) to read the newspaper so I can process at my own speed and choose my exposure to the horror. Remember, I live close to Washington DC where international news is local, and things have been tense to say the least. Since last summer…

I agree! Something is always better than nothing:)

Came home yesterday from a really great week with the snacker family at our favorite beach, Emerald Isle NC. The drive home was long, thanks to predictable traffic and my 80+ year old parents in the car who needed more frequent breaks. Regardless, it was worth it. I did enjoy indulging in snacks and cocktails, so today I…

I agree with @AnnPT77. I am currently on vacation this week, with the snacker family, at our favorite beach. It's one week. I know what to do when I get home and feel I can trust that I will.

I bought a Peloton in Dec 2020, and put my gym membership on hold. It was the best thing I ever did. But let me say that my exercise moto is and has always been "something is better than nothing". Even going for a short walk is better than just sitting. So start small, and think of it as part of your schedule. Have a look…

Thanks for all the great lunch ideas. I think my biggest worry is keeping up the exercise. I have been training really hard this summer and I'm actually seeing some of the benefits, hate to let that go.

I like Greek nonfat yogurt for breakfast. I add fruit or honey. I always eat at school since I am not hungry in the early morning. This also gives me more time to get ready. Usually, if I cook the night before I make an extra serving and pack it as I am serving dinner so lunch is ready the night before. When I am really on…

Good morning, Haven’t posted in weeks, but I have kept up with most of your postings. Thanks for sharing all that life has to offer.. I am in awe of your courage and strength. Your postings keep me feeling connected. Welcome to all the new ladies. This month we managed to get away for two little trips out of town which…

Thanks so much for the recommendation! I was just thinking yesterday that I needed to start knitting again. I was knitting scarves for the homeless, but Covid interrupted the collection and distribution. Not sure when the Assisted Living place I was taking them too will start that up again.

Hi everyone, Kylia in Ohio, your brother lives about 30 miles straight north up the highway from me. :) Lots of discussion around being exhausted. I think it's life (unless it's medical). Life is hard and messy, and if you live it, it makes you tired. That and getting up to pee at night, but you know what I mean. Lots of…

Hi everyone, I’m a little late to the party, but this is obviously where the cool girls are. I’m 55 and live in Maryland outside Washington DC. It’s July, hot and humid, like every other July. Except, everything this summer is better than anything last summer. I started the day by sleeping in and taking two Peloton spin…

Full disclosure: I am a 55 year old female in what most would say is really good shape. I have three pounds that come and go and while it is bikini season I am concentrating on it going. I am, at this moment, using both WW and MFP apps. I do not go to WW meetings and never have. I would like to share my observations but am…

I really like MapMyWalk, I use the free app. It will let you know how far you walked and your pace per mile. The calorie count isn't accurate, I wear a hear rate monitor for that.

Look on YouTube you can find almost anything there. And remember, when it comes to exercise, something is always better than nothing.

I totally get this. I’m the same height and my goal is 110. My max is/was 117, and I am currently 114. I almost never talk to other people about my weight because when I do, I have to pull the knives out of my back when I walk away. Just remember what a good friend of mine said once, “Pants can be tight at any size”. If I…

For me, it is about limiting my exposure to lactose and lots and lots of fiber. It has made all the difference in the world. I go through phases with the lactose. Sometimes I can tolerate some cheese, other times not so much. As far as the fiber, it has to come from grains, veggies and fruit. You can use your food diary to…

You tube. You would be shocked what you can find. I do kick boxing, yoga and pilates. Enjoy

Hi, What do you do on the weekends? When my kids were little I ran to the gym the minute I woke up on the weeknds, so I wouldn't get distracted with their needs. It also gave me some "me" time. You can look up some videos on youtube. You can find almost any kind of workout, and almost any length video depending on what you…
