  • Cut squash in 1/2 and bake at 350 until cooked and shreds apart, usually 30-40 minutes. In a pan, saute an onion. Add a few cloves of garlic, a package of mushroom (I've used white or baby bellas), a carton of grape or cherry tomatoes. Saute this with the onion mixture. Add 4 - 8 oz of feta cheese and some parm if you…
  • I cook soup for my husband and I all week long. We have an 8quart adn it'shuge. I think a 5quart is a good size. You can always have leftovers which make excellent, quick, healthy lunches.
  • Cottage cheese with a fruit ( currently I include pomagranate seeds). Fresh fruit, cheese and a few crackers, hummus is delicious! Guacamole is good, dipped with carrots or pepper. some granola bars are good. Sting cheese is awesome!
  • I love our green frying pan. It works great and sticks less. Would get 2 if I needed another pan.
  • I am actually planning on doing my first sprint triathalon in APril. Going to start training in the new year. Feel free to add me. I also was a swimmer my whole life and enjoy running. Good luck!
  • That's awesome! Glad you see this journey as a lifestyle change and not just something you have to do. It makes it so much easier in the long run. I know it's exciting when your "fat" clothes stop fitting and you see sizes you only dreamed about! Keep up the great work.
  • I noticed I started doing that awhile back to. IT feels good to look in your cart and see all fresh foods! They say that's the way you should shop anyway. Keep up the good work!
  • Fajitas, just use the veggies, some cheese and hold the sour cream. Stick with salsa instead. See if you can have celery sticks instead of the chips.
  • I have one Hershy Kiss dark chocolate a day. That gives me a little shot of sweetness without overdoing anything. I think if you can cut back, it will help you curb the addtiction. Not nessasarily deprive yourself, but just aim for a little less each day. Plan out what carbs or sugary things you will eat and then don't go…
  • Eating whatever 1 day will not undo what you have been working so hard for the week. It may slow things down, but eating right is about what you do in general. Not that i recommend a cheat day, but a cheat meal, or a dessert every now and again is not going to harm you. Sometimes you just need to indulge a little. Just be…
  • I have been maintaiing my weight for almost 6 months. It's really scary at first because I felt like I ate and ate and ate. Once you adjust adn find out how much you can eat, and still maintain, it's eye opening. I continue with good habits...eating 5 small meals a day, eating a good amount of veggies and fruits, drinking…

  • One thing that will help is to keep the bad food out of the house. I find that I usually am a little more relaxed on the weekends, but TRY not to make it a whole meal. However, when the food isn't there, it's easier to resist it. Planning makes a world of change to. WHen you at least have your main meals planned out, it's…
  • I ran a 10K the end of march in 65 minutes. Not really kept up with running consistently since then, but do a short run a couple times a week. I did 3.8 miles in 42 minutes last weekend and would like to do the same tomorrow. There is a big half marathon in November that I am seriously considering doing. Not sure about the…
  • Lots of fruits and veggies, meat that is on sale, chobani yogurt, cottage cheese, natural PB, oatmeal, frozen berries, eggs, skim milk, almonds. I also stockpile things for recipes and snacks when they go on sale.
  • I finished Insanity in March. The end of hte first month tends to get a little repetative, but remember that shortly, that all will change. STick to it and it gets better. After your recovery week, things start to go crazy, but get really fun!
  • The way a kettlebell disperses the weight is very different than what a normal dumbell does. If you try the same excersise with the two things, you can really feel the difference. A kettlebell is also better for a full body workout, it's very versatile.
  • When using coupons, don't forget to stockpile. I make soups reguarly, and buy TONS of chicken stock and tomatoes in the fall, when it's the cheapest. I don't use coupons nearly as much as I used to, because a lot of the food is processed, but I do use ones that will work in my favor. I NEVER buy meat unless it's on sale…
  • While you can eat unhealthy sometimes, it's not good to do this all the time. The key to eating well is a lifestyle change. Overall, if your food consumption looks good, then I see no problem eating something "bad" once in awhile. I eat something I shouldn't probably once a week and don't see it affecting me at all.
  • Grilled veggies are great on the grill. I cut up some squash, zuccinni, and mushrooms, add some salt pepper, oregano, and a little EVOO, then grill for about 20 minutes. Asparagus works great too, as do many veggies. Also you can marinate chicken breast and grill that. Pork chops, yummy! I love using the grill. We actually…
  • I think it's up to us to set the example for our kids. IF it's good enough for me, it better be good enough for our kids. Why change our lifestyle and then give them something that's unhealthy. That's almost like setting them up for failure. I think it's great so many of us choose to feed our kids healthy food. Many…
  • It's pretty sad people have the time to look at complete strangers diarys and then take the time to pm you about your eating habits. Seriously, get a job and make some money, or something. You have to do what works for you. If yiou make healthy cheesecake, then eat up! It's not about what other people think, it's about…
  • Could you have an after dinner snack? That would add some calories to your day. Try some cheese and meat, or maybe a handful of nuts and dried fruit. Even another serving of veggies would add some healthy calories back. IMO, if you are hungry, then eat something more. IF you are below your calories, but you feel satisfied,…
  • I have to do this a couple times a week. I just take my planned lunch and dinner and try to keep it on ice as I go throughout the day. Try to eat the perishable items first to they don't spoil in the day. I eat fruit first and a small snack in the mid afternoon.
  • Clean eating to me means eating mostly foods that are fresh. If it can go bad within 2 weeks or so, I would say it's clean. Also, foods with few ingrediants in it. ANything in there that you can't pronounce is probably not clean.
  • What about turkey, ground or sliced, and maybe ground beef. Greek Yogurt is an excellent source of protein, as is cheese. I love string cheese. It's low in calories, but nutritionally very good. : )
  • I add all sorts of veggies. Usually carrots, corn, celery, green pepper, onion, sometimes spinach, zuccini, and squash. YOu can't go wrong with veggies in a soup! I think most veggies will work well. It depends on what type of soup I am making too.
  • IMO, if food can go bad in 2-3 weeks, it's definatly not bad for you. OUr bodies recognize foods that come from nature and will digest them much easier. Not all foods have lots of protein or fat or other things. But they all have something good in them. That's why we should eat a balanced diet. Sugar is good for you, it…
  • My morning snack is always a piece of fruit. A couple times of week, I will also add frozen berries to my breakfast, or snack of cottage cheese. I make and eat soup most days, which always has a ton of veggies in it. For dinner, I almost always have veggies and some kind of protein. I have found that this gives me a…
  • I try to eat 200-250 calories at breakfast. I also eat 4 more times during the day, which helps keep me from being starving. I don't know if it matters how much you eat at breakfast, as long as you are satisfied, but not full. If I eat a big breakfast, then I usually don't have a morning snack. Listen to when you are…
