Please can I stay?

I can't see your diary as you have it closed now. I suggest upping protein and fibre as much as you can. If you can eat veg "cooked to mush" then it's so easy to make soups, stews and pasta sauces.

I'm trying pilates as a way of getting at that area - hoping to increase my core strength and improve my balance, and also that when the worst of my remaining fat eventually comes off there'll be tautness to show off!
-
All sorts of uses - I like to use it as a stuffing for vegetables, with some herbs and cheese - but be very careful about storage, it's a nasty one for food poisoning if it sits about.
-
I add them to stirfries. And I use the roasted ones, blended with a bit of chilli, (and tomatoes in my case but not yours of course) to make a sauce for chicken, which is very good. They're not my favourite vegetable but I don't mind them as long as they're not in great bit chunks, which often seem to have a bitter taste -…

Okra, yeuch. Although I'm told it's different if very fresh. The slime factor's just gross.
-
Yes, when my actitvity level is set to sedentary and it takes a significant amount of time. I sometimes do catering for parties and trust me it's hard work!
-
Makes me exceedingly curious to know what had happened to the poor chicken that it ended up with that much fat on it!

Thanks for the help! After much head-scratching, I found one I like at Ruth White yoga - they get a very good write up. It was the only place I could find the size I wanted (200 x 80) plus a reasonable balance of quality, comfort, and weight. Just under £30 so not too horrendous, and the thought of no longer having to use…

Thanks for that - I'll look them up. I wouldn't have to shift it about much at class, but would need to get it there and back, and find storage space...

I think weight loss (if overweight, obviously, lol) and healthy eating are massively important if you experience depression. I'm not trying to minimise the extra difficulties of achievement if have severe depression. However the benefits are well worth the struggle. There's lots of studies on the importance of exercise and…

^^^ Good thinking. I like quorn, stirfried with mushrooms. I'll try try that next time... I've been planning, I think curried cauliflower and baked layered aubergine and tomato with a parmesan topping could be good tasty low cal options too.
-
I've tried it for two days this week, sticking to 500 cals. Didn't find it too bad but needs preplanning, especially as I wanted to maintain reasonable protein and fibre intake on those days as well. Fish seems to be about the best low cal protein, I used cod and haddock. And loads of low calorie veg/salads - tomatoes,…

I'm giving it a trial this week. I'm interested in the supposed health benefits, and also wanted to shake things up a bit! The bit I wasn't sure about was the idea that I'll naturally eat less on feeding days, lol. My plan is to use MFP logging to ensure that my overall weekly calorie intake reflects my MFP weightloss…

T think everyone who cooks from scratch has kitchen scales and uses them - although like another poster said you get a feel for some portions you use regularly and don't necessarilt need to weigh every time. We use grams mostly, but I have a lot od old cook books which use ounces, I have a and antique and extremely…

You're right about the HRM burn - it doesn't include your BMR and if you want to be as accurate as possible you need to adjust this. I worked out my BMR per minute - conveniently it's 60 cals an hour. So if - as I often do - I exercise for quite a long period but not at high intensity, say a two or three hour walk, I knock…

They're fine, just make sure they're moist enough. Use an oil spray, and greaseproof paper or foil so they don't stick to the tin. They take about 20 mins, turn over half way through. Yum, might make some myself this week!

No answers here, it's a problem for me too... If you can stick to two glasses that's not too bad for calories, maybe you could exercise more/compromise on your rate of weightloss/have smaller measures to make it work within your goals. Me, when I drink wine I have way more than that, which is bad calorie wise and is also…

You could try taking selenium as a supplement. Many Western diets are deficient in it, and it supports thyroid fuction whether you're hypo or hyper. I have Graves Disease, and as it's progressive I suppose I'll have problems again one day... but I stumbled across the selenium idea by accident years ago, and symptoms have…

Thanks. I've been reading elsewhere, and have ordered an Accumeasure. Jackson-pollack does seem to be the way to go.

Given those figures, if I were you I'd eat about 1550 ON AVERAGE.It doesn't matter if you're over one day and under another, in fact it may well be helpful. Weigh and log - if you have to guess (meals out etc), use entries on the database that are similar to what you've eaten. If you've set your activity level to…

6 feet and 38lb in a year, some more to go, and strength training to get into! Add me if you like - I'm an active supporter of my MFP friends
-
Bump - some MFP peeps must use them, surely?
-
I always weigh solids and dry foods, and measure liquids. I'm in the UK, and so that's what I'm used to- but also I have a set of measuring cups, and when I see entries on the database that are measured by cups the calories are clearly often way off. Weighing's the way to go for accuracy.
-
Unless you set your activity level to sedentary with the intention of logging your exercise as you go. In which case you should eat those calories back. Or a proportion of them - depending on how you measure them, whether you're relying on MFP estimates or using a HRM etc.
-
It is difficult if someone else is cooking - I've the exact same issue tonight. I know my friend is making a Sunday roast beef dinner - so I've looked on the database and there are lots on there, restaurant meals and MFP members own entries. I've just picked one of the higher calories entries for a restaurant chain - it'll…

Awesome my friend!

I'm going through the same thing myself - little loss for quite a while, then suddenly started losing (8lb in a month, 4 of them in the last seven days). I think it just goes like that sometimes. I think you and I should make the most of it - it's not likely to last, and it makes a nice change!
-
I just find the most similar thing I can on the database, and if there's a choice then a go with one of the higher calorie options. It's impossible to be exact about everything, all the time.

My local gym offers aqua exercise sessions and chair yoga for people with similar issues, is there anything locally you could join? I don't have anything like as bad problems, but I do have some sort of auto immune problem very like CFS (joint pains, exhaustion, sleep disturbance etc), and I've had fairly severe…
