I have a similar goal. I know I should lose 100 pounds but I've set a more realistic goal of 60 pounds. I log everything I eat to keep myself accountable. I'm looking forward to when someone notices I've lost weight. That will happen after I lose 30 or more. The ten I've lost so far doesn't show, but I already feel better.

The A1c test is a good diagnostic tool. It only takes a finger prick to get a small blood sample. No fasting needed because the test indicates your blood sugar levels over the last 2 to 3 months.
