I too have done P90X I have had good results. I started at just over 300lbs and I'm now just under 260lbs. I too did not follow the nutrition or supplements the program suggests. I too have followed a nutrition plan that was similar to what I'm doing through MFP now. I have an slight injury now that is delaying me from…

Plateaus come...and fortunately...they go. The sad part is that too many people nearing the end of a plateau will give up...reverse course and have success snatched from their grasp just before the breakthrough. As others here have suggested, find a way to modify your workout and nutrition. Your body is adapting to the…

Don't be discouraged. Success often happens just AFTER the point where many people give up.

The name (and acronym) for what you are experiencing is called Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (you may see this in some MFP posts as "DOMS") Now that you are in DOMS, you have a few options to help relieve some of the soreness. Staying hydrated is key. I would also recommend you warm up your muscles (this can even be down…

I've spoken to Physical Therapists, Registered Dietitians and my family physician about HRMs.. The PT and RD gave me some good info on models and brands. Getting a HRM at the local discount chain store for < $40-$50 will likely yield results that should be viewed with skepticism. My physician (BTW she is a HUGE exercise…

Burpees would be high on my list of de-motivators.

OK...consider yourself "slapped". Now...no more whining about yesterday....but equally important...don't let the faults of yesterday define who you are and what you will do TODAY. It's about habits...putting new and healthy habits in place takes time...and dedication. We any of us be perfect moving forward? NO way. Welcome…

To EMPC....Congrats to you and your husband for your commitment to personal fitness! P90X is an intense program. That said, it is something you CAN do. I'm just a bit younger than you and I too have done the program. Once complete and now doing a hybrid program with P90X and Insanity. My suggestion to you is that early on,…

I was in the Army for almost 10 years. During this time, I was the Master Fitness Trainer for our company and worked with soldiers that needed to improve their fitness testing scores (or be discharged for lack of sufficient fitness). HIIT was a key part of helping these soldiers improve their time. Here is the formula I…

We ALL have times when motivation is lacking. I've used an approach that I call the "three songs and you're OUT". Here is how my approach works for me. I always wear my headphones when working out so I can listen to my favorite tunes. On days when I'm just not "feeling it", I commit that I will workout for AT LEAST THREE…

I've done a round of P90X, and I'm now doing a round of P90X and Insanity Hybrid. While my MFP profile shows only a 13 lbs loss, that's not correct for my work with P90X. I lost a total of 43 lbs since beginning P90X on Dec 1, 2011. I only joined MFP a little over a month ago. Friends that look for or will offer…

I often work out in the evening and night ( starting at 7pm...8pm...9pm and infrequently as late at 10pm). These late workout starts mean i'm usually finishing an hour to 2 hours later depending on my program/routine. Finishing a workout this late is not something the interferes with my sleep. I do find my showering late…

I got my 22 yo daughter a set of the adjustable dumbells 5 - 12.5 lbs. This gives her enough weight for most exercises she does and the ability to vary the weight without having to purchase lots of sets of dumbells. The exercise bands of today are much better than years ago. Exercise bands are less expensive, and are MUCH…

See my questions above. If you pain is sharp, causes numbness or tingling, it's time to see a physician about this. I'm guessing it is nowhere near that type of pain because you modified your statement to refer to an "ache". Does the ache come on slowly and build or is a a sudden ache? A slow build up in pain might be…

- when your gluts hurt so badly that sitting on the toilet is uncomfortable/painful - you apologize to people for your uncombed hair, because your arms are too sore to raise them high enough to comb/brush your hair - sneezing becomes an uncomfortable/painful experience after a very vigorous ab workout

Congratulations on your commitment to your personal fitness! I too choose the P90X program to help me improve my fitness. I'm officially on my 3rd round of P90X. I did a round of Classic, a round of Doubles, and I'm now doing a hybrid of P90X with Insanity. The others who have posted here have offered you great advise.…

P90X is intense, but as many have posted...you can and should modify to adapt to your ability. That said, progress and change will happen when you challenge yourself. Weight loss and the loss of inches happens when we challenge ourselves. I found P90X challenging, but I kept with it. After 90 days I saw some changes that…

Doing two sessions of cardio in a day is ok...so long as the workouts are reasonable in length and intensity. Using the additional cardio session to kick-start stalled progress towards a weight loss goal is a good change of pace. Playing devil's advocate for a moment, let me offer this bit of info. The body will adapt to…

I like the metaphor you posed...don't WASTE money (calories)...and if you see you are getting close....EARN extra money (calories) so you have the right to spend them

Happy Day 90 to you as well!

I guess my explanation was lacking some detail. I've lost 37 lbs since I began my quest in late Nov of 2011. I joined MFP about two weeks ago. My progress on MFP shows 7 lbs lost because that what I've lost since joining. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the words of support! My wife and children (daughter 22 and son 16) are supporting me too!

I tried Zumba....ONCE. I looked like I was having a severe allergic reaction. I guess I just wasn't cut out for that type of cardio. I'll stick to the treadmill/elliptical/cycles....they seem to be more my style.

Well done! Keep up the great work!

From Midnight Express - "Where are you going? Why don't you walk the wheel with us? What is the matter my American friend? What has upset you? Oh! I know. The bad machine doesn't know that he's a bad machine. You still don't believe it. You still don't believe you're a bad machine? To know yourself is to know God, my…

I hate it when my body gets "photo-shopped" with these guys faces. LOL.

As I understand the setup of MFP, when you noted your activity level (sedentary, active, etc), a calculation of your daily caloric intake is made. You can offset this with exercise thereby giving you opportunity for some additional calories. Properly tracking your food will help you know where you stand. Then you can set…
