to me it sounds like you are trying to lose the weight too fast... this is a marathon, not a sprint. 2 pounds a week is much better for your body. It sounds to me like your body is trying to tell you.. hey, wait... slow down a minute.... You probably need to eat more, drink more water, and dont try to lose it all at once.…

sleep is very important, and your body knows it. Perhaps you arent eating the right types of food in the evening meal to keep you going till bed? just a thought, but do listen to your body and get sleep, it helps regulate your metabolism too, very important.

sweet! I cannot wait to hit that milestone myself, but I still have more to go after that... but ill get there. Thank you for being such an inspiration!

caffeine can increase your heart rate, and in moderation isnt bad for you, but I wouldnt imagine it would boost your metabolism enough to add it to your diet for that particular reason.

welcome and good luck to all of you. Large amounts of weight to lose is daunting, I know, i am still trying to get there.. but it can be done as long as you know it will take awhile, and that sticking with it matters! time flies.. before you know it you will be healthy!

Good luck to you. You are right, this must be a lifestyle change. Diets dont work because you cant be on a diet the rest of your life. You need to teach yourself how to eat the right portions of the right foods, because that is something that you can continue on forever. I know how you feel, 10 months or so ago I was in…

First of all, you dont suck! Second, it is not too late to undo this. Plan time for extra exercise today, and plan healthy meals. A great lunch would be something I had for breakfast this morning.. two slices of light toast with 3 egg whites, a touch of diced peppers and onions, and some salsa, made a sandwich out of it...…

It depends on many factors (height, weight, hr, exertion level, etc). I dont use the treadmill as my joints dont like it much, but I spin... moderate to heavy exertion for at least 60 minutes.. and i burn around 450-550 calories depending on my work level for the hour.. so I would guess you are in the right area with where…

sounds like you are being accountable to yourself, and that, in the end, is what will keep you on the right road! Great job.

how you feel about yourself a year from now depends on the choices you make today! If i were to bet, you will feel much better about yourself in 2011 than she will! Besides, when all is done, you will both be full and it wont have mattered what it was she ate! It WILL get easier to eat healthy... just stick with it.. and…

you can do it... good luck to you! but, using food as a reward is a scary road to go down... food should be a fuel.. reward yourself with something completely not related to food IMO...
-
my opinion, bad idea... if it isnt something you can do for the rest of your life then why do it? otherwise, as soon as you go back to regular food you will pack it all right back on. Make changes in things you can do for life, eat healthy foods, stuff with lots of color, (i.e. veggies!) lean meats/fish, fruits, whole…

If you are eating WAY less as you say, and working out MORE, you might need to rethink... you dont want to put yourself in starvation mode. Slow and steady works best... make sure you give your body enough GOOD fuel to give it the energy you need to work out... otherwise your body will think something is wrong and burn…

52 pounds down.. you seem to be doing just fine without it :)

welcome, and best of luck to you!

have a salad with low cal dressing for dinner, and get moving!

I LOVE to spin. Cycling is very low impact on my joints, and in spinning class you have music to help distract you from thinkin about how much you are working! I know this isnt much of a help if you arent a member of a health club, but you could also get a bike and go ride outside. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!

congrats on your success so far, and here's to your future success as well! Welcome and good luck!

Good luck to both of you. This site is great. The food log is really an eye opener, at least it was for me. There are alot of great people and great forums here for whatever support you might need.

I cannot comment on what bike to buy as I use my gym membership.. but I can say cycling, if done at a high enough cardiovascular level, is great cardio. I do spinning as my cardio workout almost exclusively and I have done okay for myself. I do balance it with some weight training as well, but as cardio, its pretty much…

very natural. I have have a few of those over the last 9.5 months. I sometimes will go weeks without losing, and then all of a sudden i will lose 3 or 4 pounds. If you just keep eating right, exercising, and staying right around your alloted calories you will lose. My suggestion to you is don't weight more than once a…

Kudos for starting somewhere! I spent many, many, many years being the "fat friend", knowing I was fat, knowing I needed to lose weight, but not wanting to do it. I hear ya. Last March I decided enough was enough, and I started exercising and eating better. I dont deprive myself of anything, I just try to stay "mostly"…

Half yourself! 50%! Totally amazing! You are a true inspiration to all of us who have a lot of weight to lose. I am trying to lose 42% of myself.. and well on my way, but seeing before and afters of those who have already done that and more is helpful in keeping pointed in the right direction :)

man, i would feel like i was STARVING if that was all I ate LOL Make sure you eat all your allowable calories.. dont let your body think it is starving, or like others have said, it will try with all its mite to hold on to the fat reserves. that is why diets dont work for a lifetime, only lifestyle changes will. Good luck…

I am still working on 2009.. i have 2 more pounds to get off before January first.. When i started on March 15th 2009 I gave myself until late october 2010 (when I turn 40) to lose the entire 136 pounds (or more). I never dreamed I could lose 90 pounds in the first 9.5 months... but 2 more pounds and I will make it! I can…

Be completely honest with yourself, your exercise, you food intake, and your goals. Do whatever it takes to stay on track, get a buddy to keep you honest or something. Lean meats, fresh veggies, a few carbs, and not alot of simple sugars/sweets. Get moving.. at the gym, walking around the block, jumping jacks, whatever..…

Welcome. This site is very useful, so take full advantage! Casper made great suggestions, the only other I can add is to make smaller goals of your overall goal. break down your weight loss goals into smaller increments, like 5 or 10 pound ones. Looking a 150 pound weight loss goal in the face is very daunting, I know!…

thats not even a pound a week. that is totally doable! good luck to you :)
