running shoes?
I am just now starting to run.. and by just, I mean the first time in 19 years just... I ran/walked on the treadmill yesterday and my ankle muscles and knees are sore. Not painful, but sore. I know i need new shoes... good shoes.. running on a treadmill in cheap crosstrainers is probably not good, and likely to blame for…

day one of new goal
Well, I have been at this for nearly 11 months now, and while I have had alot of success I am by no means done. I told myself last March that when I lost 100 pounds I would begin on my second goal of being able to run a mile. Mind you, I have not not ran 20 steps in 20 years, not something a 326 pound person does…

half way
Well... I got on the scale today, about 7 months into this lifestyle change, and I am officially half way to my goal.... I gave myself 18 months to do it... and so I might just make it, since I know things slow down as the weight comes off.... anyway, I wish you all the luck, and wish myself continued luck

Yay! Finally
I went to spin class this morning, as I do nearly every morning, and after class today someone that i see in there off and on came up to me and said that she noticed i was losing "alot of weight" and said that i "looked good" Well, alot is relative when i have so much to go still, and looking good, well, I am not…

goal one down
well, I stepped on the scale today and it read 298...for the first time in longer than I can remember I was not in the 300's! I will never be in the 300s again! My goal, obviously, will take me under 200, but its a start, 8 weeks, 28 pounds :)

scared, intimidated...
by the spinning class at my gym. I walk buy it all the time, but I am afraid to try it. I am afraid this fat girl will die trying a class, or that people will look at me like "what is that fat girl doing in here" especially if I cant keep up at first.... one day I will try it.... :ohwell:

guilt is great motivation!
I sat down last night, made a food plan for easter. I planned on skipping the gym today being a holiday and just relax (I dont get many days to just relax) . My husband and I went out to breakfast, and I ordered what I had planned, but it was definitely not the most healthy option. While it, along with my planned dinner,…

question about veggies
I know that the majority of veggies are low in fat, some more than others, but I was wondering if anyone had a good "guesstimate" as to how much a cup of mixed veggies might be? The reason I ask is because I am part of a produce co-op so I get fresh fruits and veggies every saturday for very low cost.. in order to prepare…

opinions sought here....
I will try to be brief.. I have been modifying my lifestyle now for 3+ weeks, lost 12 pounds, and everything seems to be going good. I decided since this I have 135 or so more pounds to lose that a HRM would be a good investment, so I bought a Polar F11 model. It came in the mail yesterday, so this morning on my workout…

three weeks today....
and down 12 pounds! Not only that, but I feel like I am eating nonstop! It is GREAT to be able to eat like I do and still lose! I have ALOT to go, but getting such a fast start sure makes it easier to keep going! amazing what food choice changes and a little exercise can do for ones body, and mind! Thank you everyone for…

are strapless hrm's accurate?
I think I need to get a HRM since I am only about 3 weeks into this, and it is going to be along process for me. I have seen ones with chest straps, and without. Is there a big difference in the quality of such models? I would, of course, prefer the one without if it worked reasonably as good, but I have no idea what…

hello from AZ
Hello, my name is Dana. I found this site yesterday after starting my lifestyle changes saturday. I am a week in, and have lost 4 pounds. I know, and fully expect, this to slow down, but I think my body was in shock at all the good food and exercise it started getting. Anyway, the main issue i have been having is not being…
