  • welcome and congratulations on taking the first step! It is a long journey when you have that much weight to lose, i know! The thing that seems to keep me going is to not look at it as a long haul, alot of weight, etc. and break it down in small goals... 5 pounds, 10 pounds, etc... That way MENTALLY you get ALOT of…

  • wow, you are trying to lose 5 pounds a week? that is not the healthy way but good luck to you.
  • your body is addicted to them. It is HARD to get off them, but I can tell you, the longer you stay totally away from them the easier it gets... after 3-4 weeks your body basically cleanses itself of the "need" for sweets and you will then not crave them so much. just keep away from them for a month completely and see what…
  • welcome to this site... use it and all it has to offer, be true to yourself, be honest with yourself and it will work... good luck to you
  • we get so used to living one way its hard to realize we are not that way anymore. I always think.. wow, ive lost alot, i look good, then i see a picture of myself and it hits me like a brick how much more I still have to lose. Looking at before pictures, comparing them to now pictures... trying on clothes that used to…
  • I think you will find that getting moving, exercising, will help. I know that is what you need motivation for, but if you just MAKE yourself start and stick with it, in a few months you will quite likely actually WANT to do it. I know i was the worlds worst couch potato.. hated anything active..but now if i dont go to the…
  • nobody wants to see someone of my size jumping rope! LOL might cause an earthquake or something! Also, i have had multiple knee injuries and that is pretty high impact for someone my size... so no, no jumping rope for me... but i do see people at the gym jumping between sets to keep up their heart rate... seems to work for…
  • I dont really use it as a motivator. I do tend to work out longer and harder if I know I am going out to eat or whatever, so i have a few extra calories to work with and wont feel as guilty... but for the most part I dont need any more motivation to work out. The weight loss and better health is now motivation for me...…
  • unless you ate 10,000 calories you didnt gain it all back.. sodium will do that to you.. watch for hidden sodium in stuff like canned soups, frozen dinners, etc.. read your labels. also, if you are not trying to lose very much weight dont focus on the scale.. get on your program and dont weight more than every 2-3 weeks.…
  • in my opinion if you have a heart rate monitor that calculates age, weight, height, and even Vo2 then it is probably more accurate than the MFP.. I aways go with my HRM and I have had good results so far. if what you are currently doing is not working and you are in a plateau, now would be the time to change it up a little…
  • welcome to this site.. it is most helpful! good luck on your journey to fitness!

  • I have a polar F11, and I love it. it has all the features, and IMO was one of the best things I invested in for my lifestyle change. As I have lost weight I have noticed that my calorie burn for the same perceived exertion level has went down, which makes perfect sense. I now have to work harder and longer to burn the…
  • I think when people are jealous they tend to try and make the person they are jealous of look bad in the eyes of others in hopes of making themselves look better. Dont let her ruin your success.... you dont need people like that in your life
  • Spinning... I love spinning :) I started spinning about 6 months ago, routinely.. it is really all the cardio I get (I do weights too, but for cardio I spin mostly) It took me 2 weeks for the butt soreness to completely go away, but I was going to 4-5 classes a week, so not giving my butt much recovery time. Gel seats help…

  • good luck on your journey!
  • for me it has been eating in moderation but not depriving me of anything. Exercise is probably the biggest thing for me though, since I have a desk job and work long hours. All it all though it i comes down to good food and exercise, and expending more energy than you consume... Wish i had found this site 10 years ago!
  • Nice post. This is something I wish I had thought about more earlier in life.. but I am at least thinking about it now. It is amazing what our bodies cope with, and how much better we feel when we start treating it right.
  • I usually bake mine in the oven. I cut it in half, put it cut side down in a baking dish with about an inch of water... bake until tender. Shred the inside with a fork and it is good to go
  • I agree with the "do something". Anything. Walk, do situps, do planks while watching TV. go ride a bike around the block. Walk your dog if you have one. Anything that gets you moving will help, and as you keep doing it will be easier to continue, and to do more.
  • shake it a bit more
  • congrats! meeting alot of smaller goals makes the larger goal not seem so far away! Keep up the good work!
  • I started out with 146 to lose... 78 left to lose... been at it for about 6 months now... and it is a lifestyle change that this website has taught me. I dont think weight watchers is a waste of money, but I do think that you should give this website and all it has to offer a legitimate try first... it is free, and works…
  • welcome. Use this site and all it has to offer. Be totally honest with yourself and you can make it work for you. Listen to your body, and enjoy the ride.... as the pounds fall off it will be easier and easier to keep going :) good luck to you!

  • welcome, and good luck on your journey, and thank you for your service!
  • Dont allow yourself to make excuses.. put yourself and your health first.. do it for you, dont make your husband responsible... make good food choices, and find exercise you like.... take a walk during your lunch break, choose the stairs instead of the elevator, etc... for me, i found spinning.. i love spinning and it…
  • wow... congratulations! It is always great to hear success stories!!!
  • my leg might eventually be a size 3 LOL congrats to you. :)
  • I eat my calories MFP gives me every day, (1450 currently) but I dont factor in my exercise calories or eat them unless I am really hungry. Some days no matter what I do I am hungry... like I could eat the @ss end of a horse or something... and on those days I do eat part of my exercise calories... I take it as a sign that…
