I find it helpful to keep a water bottle on my desk that holds at least 32 fluid ounces (4 cups). Drinking two of these per day (which is easy) fulfills my 8 cups of water. I just fill it up twice, and that's it!

Just because I prefer not to. I *can* drink it and often do whenever I eat out. I just find it easier to drink flavored water, so that's what I do.

I use that scale, too. It's very accurate.

Oh dear... don't tell me you pee in the shower.

I couldn't part with any of my Cutco knives. My measuring spoons and cups, scale, and slap-chop are keepers.

I do this when I can and I find that it helps me.

Everyone stores and loses fat in different places. But for me.... Jogging and running really help with my lower belly fat and overall abdominal fat. My legs and calves also toned up, of course, but I was thoroughly surprised to see such a difference in my belly. I followed the Couch-to-5K program. I had to stop for several…

*hugs* It was TOM for me last week and I skimped on exercising, too. I've been up 5 pounds this week once I finally got back on the scale again. *sigh*

I got up 30 minutes after my alarm. Got ready and walked 30 minutes to work. Now I'm hungry and might take a short break to get some coffee and eat a banana.

My mom and my grandma have always commented on my weight. I guess they feel like they can get away with it since they're family. When I was a teenager my mom scolded me for having a belly. She said no man deserved to marry a woman with a chubby tummy, so I needed to work hard to lose that weight before someone would want…

My husband and I are the same weight and have approximately the same body size (except for the chest regions). He frequently wears my jeans by mistake because they're essentially the same size as his jeans. BUT... his body looks more "in shape" than my body. He has more muscle tone and I have more fat.

In the back of my mind I've always known that we really should be calculating our "net" calories burned. That is, we need to subtract the BMR calories. We don't want to double-count them. But then again, we also don't account for the extra calories we burn AFTER our workouts end. Your metabolism gets a boost whenever you…

I think your husband's goal should be to gain muscle - not lose weight. That would probably make it more of a challenge for him!

Snack on edamame! Mmmmmm... Everyone else has made good suggestions, too. Cottage cheese is delicious with pineapple chunks.

This diet was recommended to me by my doctor for lowering my cholesterol. Anyone else follow it? Stories?

I used to drink 0 - 1 cups of water a day. More often I'd never drink water at all. I bought a slimline Brita water filter pitcher for my desk. I have a 32oz water bottle sitting next to it. Yesterday I drank my FIRST EVER 8 cups of water in one day. YES! I'm excited about this. I'm only drinking water, coffee and tea…

I've been weighing myself once a week: same day, same time, same clothes, always before eating anything. SOMETIMES I'll cheat and check my weight when I'm not supposed to. Sometimes I'm disappointed, sometimes I'm happy with what I see. It's a real mind trip! But after reading a few posts on here, maybe I should switch to…

After three days I see a 4 pound drop in my weight. No, I'm not starving myself or exercising a ton. It's the same scale (a high quality one) and I'm weighing myself under the same circumstances (empty stomach, undressed). Is it REALLY 4 pounds in water weight? I've been drinking water, but not THAT much.

If I've gone over my calories, then I go for a walk or a bike ride or get on the floor and do some exercising. I try to make up for it right away. I've been learning that I would much rather choose the right foods than have to exercise a lot of the time because I've gone over.

I only weigh myself ONCE a week - first thing in the morning on Thursdays before I hop in the shower. Always after I've used the restroom and before I've had any breakfast. And I agree with everyone else about the sodium intake and drinking water.

This is what I try to do as well. I stick with the kids meals. They're just fine. :-)

But are sugars from fruits better than sugars from candy and other junk foods? I can eat an apple or a banana and EASILY use up my sugar allottment for the day - but that can't possibly be as bad as drinking a soda or eating candy.

California Coast, here! It's beautiful outside.

It doesn't seem right that everyone should drink 8 cups of water a day. I seriously don't think 8 cups is good for both a tiny 4'11" person AND a 6'5" person. That seems silly! Shouldn't how much water we drink depend on our height, weight and activity level? Does anyone know of a formula that takes these factors into…
