If it fits in your cals then go for it. I tend to stick to dry wine or straight whisky or vodka though. I guess you could ruin a good drink with diet soda though and it wouldn't hurt.

If you can find a running/walking shoe store in your area go get fitted. I had to drive an hour to get to the one that fitted me. They had me run barefoot on a treadmill and filmed my feet. Their staff all are experts on proper fit and walking/running technique. I paid $120 for the shoes I got but that is how much they…

Since you aren't interested I would have laughed hysterically, pointing at his thing, until embarrassed and humiliated he left the room and is now contemplating how to face you ever again. Yes, I'm that mean mostly because he had no right to put you on the spot like that. If I was feeling nice I would just tell him not to…

I was diagnosed T2 14 years ago. I have to say that the big goal is to get BG under control however that needs to be done. If it means he needs to be on insulin then that is what he needs. It doesn't mean he will need to stay on it forever. When BG is elevated it causes a host of problems that many people generically refer…

I can't drink milk so I use almond milk and splenda when I want white coffee. I use the plain unsweetened kind so there is only like 40 cals or so in a cup depending on the brand. I've never had the chocolate but they make that too.

I'm poor and don't have an HRM. I take my pulse a few times while I run by counting beats for 6 seconds and then multiplying by 10. I average this out and then use http://www.braydenwm.com/calburn.htm to figure out how many cals I burn. From what I understand, these tables are the same ones the HRMs use.

Having raised egg laying chickens I can say that fresh eggs are harder to peel. As they age, there is a little air space between the shell and the inside. If you have super fresh eggs they are going to be a pain to peel no matter what you do with them. I have boiled them with a bit of baking soda in the water and that…

You are really active so maybe eat a little more. I also think I would add more fat, maybe eat full fat cheese and PB. Add some olive oil in too.

For some bizarre reason I was in my mid forties when I suddenly became lactose intolerant. It started with regular milk and for the next couple years I could eat yogurt and a small amount of liquid milk. Now yogurt is bothering me. I hope it doesn't keep progressing until cheese does. Right now I can eat whatever amount of…

I was accosted by the Girl Scouts at the grocery store. Since I was a leader, cookie mom, and even cookie manager I am forced to buy them. I limited to 2 boxes and ate 2-4 per day. Happily they are gone and hopefully I won't run across anymore. It does take a lot of self control but it is that way with everything although…

WW English muffins make a great base. I make mine with fresh tomato and mozz. Maybe a bit of ham or something. A little mushroom, bell pepper etc. I've also done it with a low carb tortilla.

Maybe morning workouts are better for you. I get up at 5 so I can wake up, eat, run for 45 min or an hour get showered and ready for work. The days I work I start at 7:30, work til 4 or 5 making for about 25-30 hrs a week depending. I'm also a full time student so on the days I don't work I have school and spend a lot of…

I think for many people they eventually will be able to eat intuitively. For many years I did and did fine. Some other health issues caused some weight gain that I'm now battling to get off. I also was never super big. I think at my heaviest I was about 30 lbs over my ideal weight but I was also 9 months pregnant. So for…

The other day I made a curry using unsweetened almond milk and the bottled paste stuff. It was a little thinner than the regular coconut milk but it was still delish.

wasa crisp and light crackers (70 cals for 3 2x4 crackers) with whatever you like on top or just by themselves. They are good with laughing cow cheese, pb, hummus, sliced cheese or whatever else you would put on a cracker. You could probably spray them with spray oil and season them too.

Core work will help tighten everything up. I also rub my belly with a good stretch mark oil to keep the skin supple so I don't end up with hanging skin. I am finally feeling like my belly is shrinking. I'm down to about the last 5 lbs and have minimal extra fat anywhere else. I know from my measurements that my belly was…

I am opposed to government intervention on many things. I also see this as harder to tax. I know some states come up with junk food taxes that include things like carbonated drinks, chips, and candy. If you don't eat a lot of these things I guess you wouldn't mind paying a little tax on them. But many things are subject to…

The only way you might come close to that without a free source of food would be to only buy staples. So bags of beans, rice, flour, potatoes and the like and make everything from scratch. Around here, pork has been the cheapest cut of meat. Throw a little meat in with the bean and make your own bread. Buy whatever produce…

Will the cinnamon ones work for me since I'm also diabetic and cinnamon is supposed to lower your blood glucose levels?

The drop in your finger sticks at home are great. The thing you might want to do is test more often. They often tell T2s to test 1x per day. Not enough. I go through bouts where I test 15 times a day for several days so I can gauge what is happening. Anytime I eat a food I'm not sure of I test at 1 hr and 2 hrs post…

I try to eat more whole foods and actually cook only for me. The teenagers like junk and aren't home much anyway. I eat a lot of fish, chicken, veggies and try to watch the grains even though they are whole. I do splurge on chocolate every day. Now here is something to think about. Diabetes often causes cholesterol issues.…

Keep up the great work and read Dan's In place of a road map that someone posted a link to. I am 4'11" and I don't think 1200 cals is enough for me. You are more than a foot taller I don't see how that can be enough for you unless perhaps you are comatose and even then, probably not. Enjoy the size you are losing. People…

Tomorrow is my official weigh in but I think I gained 2 lbs back making my loss for the last year 7 lbs. But a year ago I had been so sick (not due to weight) I couldn't get out of bed. Once I had surgery and proper meds I got fixed up. So in the last year I went from bed ridden due to a slicing and dicing at the hospital…

If this is the area you tend to put your weight on then it is generally the last to leave. While skin elasticity will have something to do with it and core work will help the biggest thing is to lose extra weight. I am about 5 lbs from goal and that is pretty much the only place I have fat. It is significantly smaller than…

I would go to a running shoe store. The one I go to specializes in running and walking shoes only. They don't have other sports gear. They now have a file on me but my original fitting they had me run on a treadmill and took video plus they had me run across their floor. Their people are experts on fitting running and…

I applaud you for trying. Perhaps try a lower level of patch. I smoked for the most part since I was 12. I was 45 when I decided I really had to quit because as a diabetic it is a really good way to become an amputee. I did fairly good that first 6 months. I used chantix and it was pretty painless. Almost all of my friends…

I actually think it is the acid that causes the curdling, separation or whatever. The other day I went to have another cup of coffee later in the day. The coffee was room temp and the Pacific Foods almond milk was cold. It still curdled in the cup. I think brand can also affect it since this happens much less with the Blue…

I would go crazy if I didn't exercise. My life is super stressful right now. I run about 20 miles per week and walk about 15 on my treadmill. I study while walking and I watch Netflix while running. So it is a great break from work, family responsibilities and full-time college. Find something you like to do and go do it.…

Blue Diamond unsweetened doesn't seem to do it as badly. I currently have some Pacific Foods unsweetened almond milk and no matter what I do it curdles. One of the coffee places around here uses coconut milk in their lattes so maybe it does better? I've tried stirring better but that doesn't help. I was thinking it had…

I think I did 2.5 hrs today while reading a very exciting textbook.
