  • I eat my largest meal (1000 calories or so) about an hour before bed. I've lost over 60 pounds and maintained that loss for a year and a half now. Meal timing does not matter in the slightest - any IFer could tell you that. As long as you have a calorie deficit going, you will lose weight. Eat whenever you want.
  • I haven't given up anything except overeating.
  • I track mints, gum, cough syrup, mustard, ketchup, cloves of garlic. I weigh and measure everything, too. If I go out or someone else cooks for me I can estimate fairly accurately, but I just prefer to track as accurately as possible when I have access to my food scale/measuring stuff. I know it's obsessive but it helps me…
  • intermittent fasting + volumetrics + exercise + lots of water help me keep it in check for the most part. I still binge twice a month or so. Also I try to keep my calories as high as I possibly can while still losing weight. Restricting too much definitely causes me to binge.
  • About the same, 5-6 plates? Sometimes more? I only go to buffets like twice a year so when I do go I'll eat until I'm satisfied. I do binge eat the equivalent of that many calories once or twice a month though. I usually gain a pound or so but I've been in maintenance for about a year and a half now so that's not really a…
  • This. Physical hunger all but disappears when you are in ketosis and people who are eating very low carb just don't get as hungry, so they end up eating a lot less calories. It's still about calories in vs calories out.
  • eggs, cheese, greek yogurt, whey protein powder, lentils, chickpeas, beans, tofu, tempeh, veggies, nuts, oats.
  • As many as you like . . .? I do IF and regularly consume 1000 calorie or more meals (still staying at an overall deficit for the day, of course) and it's worked very well for me
  • Raw carrots with mustard Steamed carrots tossed with mustard, cumin, oregano, and balsamic vinegar. I guess I just like the carrots/mustard combo? I know it probably sounds disgusting but it's delicious!
  • I have hypoglycemia as well, and used to have the same reaction after meals. Two suggestions: 1) eat smaller meals, 2) don't eat a lot of carbs all at once, especially if they're refined carbs. Spread them out.
  • 140-145 range, I think. Or whatever weight I fit into most size sixes easily. I'm pretty sure it'll be 140 because I was a size eight when I got down to 148.
  • I track just about everything. Black coffee, splenda, mustard, gum, garlic cloves . . . the only thing I don't measure is dried spices, because that's just a pain, I'm not going to measure out a quarter teaspoon of black pepper every time I want my food a little spicier than normal lol
  • I haven't weighed myself in over three weeks, but I'm probably around 155, would like to get between 145 and 150. But my dream ultimate goal weight (which I will probably never actually reach and I'm okay with that) is 140.
  • ^I did the same thing. I lost most of my weight averaging 2000 calories, so that if I ever stopped losing I could drop my calories pretty easily. I really think this is a big factor in never plateauing.
  • I've never had a plateau either. When I'm on plan I always lose an average of 1.5 pounds a week. I'm not saying plateaus don't exist for some people, but I think for the most part when people think they are in a plateau the truth is that they're off on their numbers. Either their TDEE has gone down or their intake has gone…
  • so just eat a little more. As long as you stay under or at your maintenance calories you won't gain anything. It's just one day.
  • You'll probably lose eating higher than 1200, but 1800 might be a little high for you considering you're not overweight to begin with. Try it and see, is my suggestion.
  • If you're eating at a deficit you need more protein than if you're maintaining. Edit: and people who are exercising regularly need even more than that.
  • Yep. My collar bones are extremely prominent and I'm normal weight, 5'7, 155 pounds. We all have different body types. Seriously, those are some incredibly rude and unhelpful comments you're making. To the OP: I agree with the posts saying you should weight train and eat at maintenance, and definitely up your protein. You…
  • 227 g divided by 100 = 2.27 100 g servings. So just select the "100 g" serving size, and for amount put in 2.27. That gives you the exact amount of calories for 227 g of avocado. No more guesswork.
  • Well, it definitely won't work for weight loss if you do it and you don't eat at a deficit. Still gotta count your calories. There's nothing magical about IF, it's really just more of a helpful mechanism for eating at a deficit for some people. Also there are non-weight-loss related benefits. But yeah of course, EVERY diet…
  • It works. And it's totally sustainable, at least it has been for me. It's awesome to be able to eat big meals in your window and actually get to feel full instead of eating snacks every couple of hours. I just get hungrier if I'm always eating.
  • I don't know about eating less, because I never really did that, but I lost weight fairly steadily (6 pounds a month for almost a year straight) by averaging around 2000 calories and exercising regularly. I have absolutely no idea how anyone can manage on 1200 calories! And I don't know WHY they would when MOST people can…
  • You're really low on protein and pretty high on carbs. I would double or triple your protein and cut your carbs in half. And are you sure you're logging correctly? Are you weighing and measuring everything?
  • David Tennant, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth :)
  • Aquiline noses are actually pretty sexy, IMO! :) My weird thing - I'm really young looking. People mistake me for 16 all the time (I'm 22). Everyone says I'll appreciate looking young when I'm older, but right now it's sort of annoying!
  • A whole jar of peanut butter, jam, entire loaf of bread, entire large pizza, about a pint of milk. On top of a normal day of eating at maintenance (2000 calories). Total was probably 7000 calories for the day. I'm not even sure that was my worst binge though.
  • I definitely agree that you should ditch the Slimfast. Wouldn't you rather lose weight eating normal, tasty food? Why punish yourself? I think doing these kinds of diets make it much more likely for you to regain the weight because you're not learning how to eat for maintenance. What happens when you hit your goal and go…
