I would suggest getting a HRM and tracking sodium. Sodium is tricky sometimes and, if you're eating lots of prepared food and fast food, will mess with your weightloss. Once you do that, decide that you want this and stick to a plan that works. Maybe limit eating out to once a week, or only at Subway or someplace you can…

I've had better luck on the elliptical (I have a bad knee, too). It's easier on my joints and I can really get a good pace going. If you go at a steady, almost fast pace, and don't use the handles, you can achieve running on the elliptical (imho). The elliptical I use also has settings (like going backwards [hard!], going…

^^ Pretty much this all over the place! :)

Endometrial Cancer

I lost weight and then gained weight as I recovered (anti-nausea meds helped and I was home for weeks just watching TV). Now I'm working on losing the weight I gained and then getting back on track to what I was trying to lose before the cancer hit.

Amazing job! You look great!

I had purchased the One and I loved it! It's easy to hide, but you don't have to. The worst is forgetting it in a pocket or something, but I liked that better than the rubber bracelet of the Flex. I'm very girly, though, so that played into it, too. :) I wrote several blog entries on my One (friend me to see them) and the…

You know what? You're awesome! I would guess that you're so awesome you're threatening to your co-workers and bosses. Since you've lost a significant amount of weight, it looks like a bigger difference to your coworkers. They're used to seeing you more full-figured, so you may look a little "ghosty" to them. They'll adjust…

I'm going through menopause at the moment (also due to cancer, I'm only 30). I gained at first, but through diet and exercise (finding what works) I'm losing. It seems to be finding the *right* diet and the *right* exercises now. I used to be able to just count calories and walk on the treadmill, but now I've found…

Current weight/starting weight: 197.3 Goal weight by end of October: 192 (at least, but this is reasonable) 5'1.5"; 30 years old Good luck!

I'm 9 weeks post-surgery (I had cancer) and trying to get in shape. I'm currently 197 and would love to be 190 by the end of October.

One of the things my doctor said was that if I had been on the pill, to regulate my period, before it turned into cancer, then I probably would've just had the PCOS. I no longer have ovaries, so I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore! Lol Irregular bleeding is a lot more serious than I'd thought. Always important…

I had been bleeding almost everyday for a couple months. A Pap smear will not screen for uterine cancer (though it does screen for cervical cancer). A d&c with hysterscopy will tell you if you have uterine cancer. My only symptom was constant bleeding for 60 days (ish). My gyn didn't think I had anything wrong with me! He…

I'm all for expressing opinions and not attacking others, but this seems like a trap or something. Maybe my cold medicine is making me foggy-headed, but is the OP serious or being funny?

I upped from 1200 cals/day to 1800 cals/day (though I tend to sit around 1650-1700/day). I lost 2 lbs right away. I'm 5'2" and have lost 32 lbs with about 60 lbs to go.

Also, I have read other people posting similar stories and it seems that this strategy doesn't work for everyone. I'm currently doing TDEE-20%, and it's working for me, but, again, I've heard of people following that formula for 6 months or better and gained. Typically, I think, you should give a new program 6-8 weeks to…

FR sent. Glad you posted this thread!

I was on a 1200 cals net/day plan (working out hard 3x/week). I gained a pound. So, I've just switched to the TDEE-20% plan. The plan works by... eating your TDEE-20%! Keep your calories at about 1770/day and workout :) (if I'm wrong, someone correct me).

This is the same for me. I burn about 100 cals/per 10 minutes with a heart rate at about 160. It's probably possible, but I would say it sounds a little high.

No, it's probably because muscle weighs more than fat!

I had a similar issue. I switched from the treadmill to the elliptical and no more shin splints (and way easier on my knees). I can now run without pain (well, without shin pain!) on the treadmill. Congrats on the weight loss!

^^ This! Because some random stranger on some website is more knowledgeable than your nutritionist or personal trainer. Okay, well, they might be I guess. But still!

Generic, but strongly worded, comment based on the title alone. Snarky rebuttal to newest comment that can be seen at the bottom of my screen as I write this. Personal opinion that has very little to do with the point of the thread. Comment that makes it apparent I didn't read any other comments and don't really care.…

Yeah, I thought it was heading that way. Being the person behind him as this liquid was pouring down on a still moving treadmill belt, I'm kinda glad it didn't.

I'm not a big fan of the MFP barcode scanner because of all the trouble I've had with it. I use it with my iPad and have had loads of issues. When it works, it's awesome though.

This just happened Tuesday: I was at the gym on a machine. A guy was using the treadmill directly in front of me. I'm not sure how it happened, but suddenly he starts shaking his leg (he's still walking on the treadmill) and all this liquid (several ounces) stream out the bottom of his pants all over the treadmill and the…

If the doctor didn't feel comfortable delivering, he should have said so and referred the woman to the other hospital or another doctor. I think he was 'in the right', but I don't think he should have stated it was hospital policy if it wasn't. I'm sure the woman is embarrassed about the situation. And, at 350-ish lbs,…
