  • I'm almost always hungry at bedtime. Like a previous poster said, nighttime snacking snowballs for me so I just don't allow it 99% of the time. I go to bed earlier now so I'm farther from the kitchen!
  • I make a homemade version of my coffeeshop's Jumpin' Monkey coffee drink. Cold coffee, ice, frozen banana, pb2, milk, choc syrup, blend in blender. Yum!
  • 1c. cheerios + 1/2 c. skim milk + 1 Tablespoon raisins
  • First off, congrats!!! :flowerforyou: It is totally possible to have a healthy, happy pregnancy while overweight. I had two! I made sure I drank tons of water, exercised every day (I did a lot of "Walk away the pounds"), and ate well. Good luck!!
  • Sounds like you need to have a stash of "safe foods" near you!! Even a protein bar would be better! Apples + peanut butter, string cheese, apples + laughing cow + saltines, fruit, veggies + hummus...get some good snacks to have around you. I think you're just getting them for convenience and now it's a habit!
  • As mentioned before, don't try something "new" right before a race, you might end up regretting it! I've had whole wheat english muffin with a schmeer of peanut butter. I've also had a banana, although that felt "heavy" to me. The best thing I've had after a race was a small Nut Roll, I don't know why but man that made me…
  • Your book might be different than mine, but in my book it is junk food. Or rather "trigger food". I see it has 7 saturated fats, I'm only suppose to have 8 a day, so it's not worth it to me. On a side note...eat one for me, would ya?!
  • I had very high cholesterol about a year ago. So high it scared me. My health coach at work (not a dr or anything, but she's very knowledgable) suggested I up my fiber, exercise and water intake and keep my saturated fats to 8 a day. EIGHT. Ug...that was hard at first!! But it has helped me a great deal! Yes, it's true,…
  • One thing I read a while ago: people don't make fun of people running. I think once you start you'll realize there's nothing wrong with YOU running in public and you'll do it more. Start out running early or late in the day. Your confidence will grow and then you won't care when/where you run! :D
  • When I'm on plan, I like to get a veggie sub on Italian herb & cheese, pepperjack cheese, red onion, lettuce, tomato, lots of pickles and black olives, jalopeno peppers, salt and pepper and a little bit of honey mustard. When I'm having a treat day, I LOVE Seafood and crab on Italian herb & cheese, pepperjack cheese, LOTS…
  • I have to say I've found it cheaper to eat healthier vs. junkier. Don't know why people say it's more expensive. All of the things you listed aren't "needed" to lose weight. Sure, they've helped you, but there are other ways. Or do it differently. For example, like someone suggested before, buy popcorn in bulk and some…
  • Check your vitamin D levels at your dr's office!
  • I'm pretty sure you'll surprise yourself when you move on! I was literally scared to move on to my first 20 minute run last year when I first did the program, and I wept like a crazy lady in the parking lot when I finished. Not because I was hurt, but because I FREAKIN' DID IT!! It's such a great program! Go at your own…
  • I drink 2 nalgenes at work a day, and drink a 20oz bottle in the car to work. Another 20oz at home in the morning then again in the evening, and I'm done. It's become habit, esp. in the car. I feel weird without my waterbottle!
  • Fan-freakin-tastic!!!! YOU are an inspiration! :flowerforyou:
  • I LOVE bendoeslife!! He has meant so much to me over the last year!!
  • That. Was. Amazing!! I had chills when he started running. The word "inspirational" doesn't do it justice.
  • So you'd rather be unhappy and unhealthy?? Of course not! The point is to be healthy, not to get into someone else's pants!! You need to tell him that. He needs to put his big boy pants on and grow up.
  • That's so sweet!! Now I'm crying at work... :blushing:
  • Congrats and good luck!!!! :flowerforyou: I know here in northern MN, you almost always dress in layers for our marathons. Basically people strip off the layers as they go and just toss them to the side. After the race a group goes down the course and collects all of the discarded clothes and donates them to the shelters.
  • Spaghetti squash au gratin...it's what's for dinner!!! Thanks for sharing, this looks delish!!:flowerforyou:
  • My usual breakfast: 1c cheerios, 1/2c skim milk, sliced banana, cup of coffee w/fat free creamer (2T).
  • Nicely done!! Congrats!!
  • I'm making crockpot Mexi-chicken!! I'm having it as a salad, I think the family will either have it in tortillas or with corn chips. http://thelarsonlingo.blogspot.com/2011/05/easiest-dinner-ever.html
  • Ah yes, food pushers!! I think everyone has them in their lives! I just say "If I take that home I'll eat it, so NO THANK YOU." It's the truth. If their feelings are hurt that's their problem not mine.
  • I've lost a 2 year old...wait, I have a 2 year old at home...that's weird!!
  • How about something like: cheeses, salami, crackers, deli ham or cold chicken...you could make like cracker sandwiches. Add in some hard boiled eggs, homemade trail mix, fruit, veggies and dip, cookies...that sort of thing! Have fun!
  • Ben and Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch!!! I use to buy stock in it. Tuesday is my treat day and I plan on having a good sized serving of it! Lately I've been craving Chinese take-out and Indian food. I think the fact that I can't make it as good at home as they do in the restaurants makes it worse!
  • Don't worry too much about it!! I have a friend who said nobody said a WORD to her about her weight loss until she'd lost ~100 pounds! I think people just don't comment for fear of offending a person. You never know why a person loses weight...illness, life tragedy, change of habits, etc. People are noticing, believe me!…
  • My usual: 1c cheerios, banana, milk, coffee + creamer.
