I'm more upbeat on here. My "real life" friends and family know that I tend to be sarcastic in person, but I figure this site is about encouraging each other to reach a goal we all share. This isn't the place to b**ch about real life stuff.

There's actually a plus side to this: You're learning to eat right while those around you aren't. I lost 83 lbs. 8 years ago, and since I wasn't in a relationship I could fix dinner for my 3 busy teenagers and then retreat to my own space to get away from it. As soon as I got into a relationship with someone who wasn't…

I've never found a magic formula. A lot of it depends on what kind of exercise you're doing and how much muscle you're building I think. I started January 1 and only lost 2 lbs the whole month, BUT I lost 17.75". February I lost 10 lbs. and another 8". I was doing a lot of strength training with 10 lb dumbbells. I'm sure…

Yay! So glad the March edition is up! Yesterday I was .40 lbs. short of my 10 lb. February goal (267.60), and this morning I was down another 1.60. Go figure! (and Yay!) My March goal is another 10 lbs., which would put me at 256 by April 1. I loved reading the updates in February. Everyone did such a good job of sticking…

And when your scale goes up 3 lbs. in the morning, remember that pizza has a lot of sodium and it's probably water retention. I lost a significant amount of weight a number of years ago, and every time I ate pizza the scale jumped about 5 lbs. I'd be careful for a couple of days, and the water weight would come right back…

GREAT job! (And thank you.)

Yay Kawanna! In fact, yay all of us! Looks like February was a successful month for us all, whether we hit our goal or came close. :drinker:

February Progress: February 1: 277.6 February 8: 272.6 February 15: 271.0 February 22: 268.6 February 29: 268.0 total loss for February was 9.6 lbs, so I fell just short of my 10 lb. goal. Actually I was at my goal last Saturday and Sunday, but then it popped back up. It's okay though. I'm terribly bloated, waiting for…

Do you have dumbbells at home? I work out with 10 lb. dumbbells and have noticed my arms firming up a lot, even with only 13 lbs. lost out of my 100 lb. goal. In 2004-2005 I lost 83 lbs and worked out with 5 lb. dumbbells the whole time and I had nice muscle tone in my arms from it. There are a lot of good workouts…

I love mine for daily wear, but not for exercise walks. I walk on uneven ground and don't feel they give my ankles enough stabilization for that . The last thing I need to do is fall off my shoes when I'm 2 miles from home!

I had three teenagers in my house for three years. The harder you push, the harder they will push back. My daughters struggled with their weight and their self-image all through their teen years and now that they are in their early 20s they are very diet conscious and work out regularly. When my youngest gave birth in…

I don't have any fresh berries on hand, so I substituted 1 tablespoon of blackberry jam (25 calories). It turned out great, and it was sweet enough.

I only lost 2 lbs my first month (January) but I lost 17.5" on my hips, waist and thighs. I chalked it up to muscle gain/fat loss. So far this month I've lost 9.5 lbs. Hang in there.

The mix alone is usually in the 160 or so calorie range, where prepared is usually around 280.

oatmeal, soup, cream of wheat. You can get all of them at Dollar Tree, or probably any other dollar store. They are also cheap at Walmart. Low in calories, easy to fix. Dollar Tree has 3 packs of instant cream of wheat in different flavors, and each serving gives you 50% of your daily iron for 130 calories.

I'm looking forward to a March challenge. We get 2 more days. Lol.

Go rent a copy of "He's Just Not That Into You", watch it, remind yourself that it's his loss, and move on.

Bump.

There's something to be said for a guy who can stay on friendly terms with his exes. The ones you want to watch out for are the ones who having nothing nice to say about the women in their past.

Trust me, you're not the only bride who gained weight before the wedding. I gained 20 lbs. after I moved to where my now-husband lives. I moved last June, and we were married in August. There's a lot of stress involved in planning a wedding. Lol.

I log everything. I weigh myself every morning and keep a running spreadsheet with my daily weight linked to a graph. There are going to be spikes even if I don't indulge occasionally, due to water retention, etc. If I exceed my calories due to a meal out here and there I expect my weight to go up for a day or so before it…

I like cream of wheat, and it does come in an instant form, in multiple flavors. Added bonus: each serving is about 130 calories and has more vitamins than oatmeal and a whopping 50% of your daily iron.

I also have a friend who lost well over 100 lbs by having surgery. It wasn't a free ride. He kept us up to date on FB, and it was weeks of restricted diet, including nothing but liquids for a time. Then it was months of learning how to eat properly and working out regularly. It took him almost a year to lose the weight,…

I quit in October and gained 15, but it was worth it. I read something at the time that said something like you'd have to gain 100 lbs. to equal the damage that continuing to smoke would do to your body. I'm sure that's not scientific, but you get the idea. So I gained 15 lbs., started my weight loss plan on January 1, and…

Looks like everyone is making good progress. I'm impressed every time I read the updates. I've lost another 2.5 inches since last time I measured. That's 9.25 inches in February so far. And I've walked 85.5 miles since January 6. (Yay me!) I'm hoping to hit 100 miles by the end of February. My goal is to walk 500 miles…

Don't forget "You'd be so pretty if you were thin." I always hated that one.

I'd say bloating unless it's somewhere that the increased muscle size is really going to show (like my biceps which got bigger at first). I measure on the day of the week when I feel smallest. It makes me happier. :)

I quit 5 months ago after 16 years of smoking. What helped me was something (obvious) that i read. Basically it was that no one could tell me not to smoke. I smoked because I chose to be a smoker. When I quit and was really craving, I reminded myself that I could smoke if I wanted to, but that I was choosing not to. I…
