The paler your urine the more hydrated you are. I find that after a few days of drinking the toilet effects settle down a bit.

In the past I have weighed daily or at the least weekly and found myself getting obsessed at the scale. If I lost I would be happy, if not I took it bad and would either become obsessed with what I was eating or fall off the wagon totally. This time I went to a nutritionist who asked me not to weigh at home, but only weigh…

Another tip which I was taught years ago. Fry the beef as usual either on its own or with onion, spices etc. Leave it to cool down and then place in the fridge for a while. All the fat will rise to the top and solidify. Just scrape it all off and use as you would normally. It does require you to be a bit organised, which I…

I once nursed a 7 year old child who was 67kg I think that is about 130lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! She was admitted because the doctor thought there must be something wrong -turned out there was nothing wrong apart from pre-diabetes, caused by her weight.. She stayed for about 5 days getting the dietician etc in to see her. The father…

This^^^^^ Just the same as you should weigh at the same time wearing similar clothes each time you weigh, I would do the same with your measuring.

I count it all - fruit is high in sugar and definitely has a fair amount of calories. Some veggies too. When I went to my nutritionist the first month she actually put me off all fruit and starchy vegetables for that reason. As a reult I count it all. The only thing I dont count is dried herbs and spices. I do count salt

Hi everyone. I love the title! My name is Tracy and I am 40. (Sounds a bit like AA!) Funny enough I was actually sadder to turn 30 than 40. I am divorced and have 1 daughter who is 14. Thank goodness they can only start driving at 17 here, so I have a while to wait. Mind you just having a teenage daughter is enough to…

Funnily enough, today I had a similar thing happen. I had to travel for work with a colleague who is always "trying" to lose weight. (This of course involves eating lots of chips and regular chocolate cake slices). She has repeatedly told me she is jealou of me losing weight. Today we stopped for breakfast on the way and I…

When my daughter used to ask I would just say: "What do you think?" This worked for a while until age 11 she said: "Tell me the truth mom, is Santa Claus real?" I of course admitted that he was not. At that stage she burst into tears and admitted that she had wanted me to say he was real, lol. A few months later she said:…

There used to be a group of mums at my daughters junior school who would drop their kids off, go and spend 2 - 3 hours chatting/having breakfast and coffee at the gym cafe, until about 11. After this they would pop to the shop and then fetch their kids at 12:30. I always imagined them going home and telling their husband:…

Hi All, I am in Durban too! Thought I was the only South African here. This is such a great site, really inspiring. I have been slowly adding the SA foods that I eat, and usually put South Africa next to it.

Over her a common party snack is cream cheese and sweet chilli sauce, which I love (not with mince, similar to a thin chilli tomato sauce) Another one I love is cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes and basil pesto My gran used to have cottage cheese and strawberry jam sandwiches But my best has to be my cousin. As a child he…
