  • Just like on Biggest Loser! :D I might try that. But I've lost 20 lbs so I know I think that's gonna be tough...
  • I like the knudsen cottage cheese doubles. 100 calories total for cottage cheese with a healthy dose of strawberry, peach, or blueberry topping. :)
  • I'd put my money on the "pickling" process which involves a lot of salt. I don't know that pickles and cucumbers really have all THAT big a difference in caloric content if the 2 were the exact same size, but it could be that the salt draws out a lot of the nutrients that contain the calories. That said, the one thing I do…
  • I think the best thing to do really is just bite the bullet and get a bodymedia armband. Takes guesswork completely out of the equation with an exact number on how many calories you burned. :)
  • Oh and I've heard that cardio is really the best thing for things like belly fat. Things like running will shave off the top layers of fat while sit-ups build up the muscles underneath the fat. Of course muscle helps burn fat, too, but yeah. I vote for cardio! Haha.
  • I think dave was just pointing out that you dont have to Worry about bulking up, because it would require the actual intention to do so. So no worries about getting all muscular. :) I like his suggestion about improving quality. Once you've perfected that and are still doing 30 each time, maybe try slowly increasing the…
  • Wow! I definitely did not expect this many replies! Thanks everyone. You all really gave me a lot of insight and help and I really appreciate it. :)
  • Now you're on the right track! Yes, MFP puts us on a pre-designed defecit. And you don't *have* to eat back exercise calories if you don't feel you need to. I tend to eat back *some*, but extra calorie burn means extra weight off. ;)
  • As pretty much everyone is saying, if a guy is doing cardio 5 - 6 times a week but is, say, cubicle worker, then he would set his lifestyle as sedentary and LOG the cardio exercise. Don't count work-outs as part of your lifestyle. What if you get sick and don't do them for a week? Just log them on the days you do them. MFP…
  • Oh my goodness!! You've lost a whole person and you look amazing!! Congratulations!!
  • Well that's exciting to hear! I use the dumbbells with exercise dvds (like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred etc) and thought it was odd that some exercises seemed easier than others with the same weight. Glad it's not just me! I'm obviously a suuuuper noob at weight-lifting type stuff. I'm just trying to get rid of the flabby…
  • I didn't even know this was ever an issue? O_o I'm on the pill (zovia) and I'm still losing as long as I watch what I eat and stay active.
  • I think you're probably right. As a devoted fan of the show "the biggest loser", it's always that "once the number is out there, it's real. I can't hide it anymore." kind of thing. Certainly it's scary. It's ok to be scared. But once you face it and overcome that fear, you can use the anger at that number as motivation to…
  • I'm a Saturday girl! Unless I happen to be at my bf's because he doesn't have a scale. I like to weigh in first thing in the morning and as close to Saturday as possible.
  • Noooo!!! I keep worrying about this. :( When I was younger and skinnier (120 - 130ish) I had small-ish boobs. Like a small B. That was in high-school. I'm 23 now and I Love my boobs!! My friends often comment that they look big but I still even feel like they could be just a tiny bit bigger. I don't want to lose them!!!…
  • Sounds like you need a new pair of "goal" jeans! Haha. I had to invest in belts, myself, due to similar problems. :P Congratulations!!!
  • I can't tell you where to end your day, as I've never had a day (as long as I've been logging, anyway) that truly lasted 24 hours. I'm often up after midnight though, and I count my day as being done when I go to sleep and the next one begins when I wake up. More importantly, don't go 12 hours without eating, ever. You…
  • Yeah, you burn calories just by existing. Breathing, digesting food, walking from the couch to the refrigerator, all burn calories.
  • Hey! I don't know how much you weigh, but I'm also 5"3. I feel like with chasing your toddler around, and I'm assuming cleaning, cooking, etc, you could probably be safe to tell MFP that you're "lightly active". I'm assuming that if they put you at 1200, that you must have chose "sedentary". I could be wrong, but that's my…
  • I like hearing about everyone "walking" half marathons... I've been thinking here and there that I would maybe like to do one, but I kept thinking "everyone there is going to be Running, and I can't do that!". So it's a little bit of a push and a big encouragement to hear about other people that walk it, too! :D And PS:…
  • I essentially agree with the two above me. Especially since you said "no MORE than 1200" which means you might be eating less than that sometimes? Definitely up your calorie intake. When you don't eat enough calories, especially if you're doing exercise, it actually lowers your metabolism. Increasing your calories might be…
  • Well, I just want to say that your dog is adorable. And you're tiny! (I'm 5"3) so 1200 cals is probably fine for you. Only you know what's right for your body, so listen to YOU above anyone else. :) I noticed one of your snack times was called "morning tea" and if you put anything other than tea bag + water in your…
  • Thanks for this note! I just ordered a bodymedia today and now I'll know how to track everything when it arrives.
  • Something I've always noticed is that if I'm really craving something specific it's best to just let myself have that or I do exactly what you started doing - eating a LOT of other stuff instead of the one thing I wanted. I think it's because I start out trying to eat something different but even while and after I'm eating…
  • I got that way when I returned from a 6 day vacation recently. I was just SO hungry ALL the time!! Couldnt understand why. But it passed after a while.
  • How cute! I should be able to tell... but I can't. is Boris a Russian Hamster, or a Rat? Very cute either way :)
  • That's MYYYYY baby! Lol. And yes it is! He gets a cream cheese and apple flavored cake from a local dog bakery every year on his birthday. @tbruegg thank you!!! He is awfully pretty, aint he.. hehe. Yours is cute, too!
  • Wellll you might hate me after this... but here goes. Lol. This is my 2 year old Shiba Inu: Maverick. He's the favorite. My pride and joy. I ADORE this dog. This is our 10 year old cat Sally This is my bearded dragon Daenarys This is my giant day gecko pair, Rin and Haru (They've had babies together!) This is my crested…
