43 years old, 5'10". When I started watching what I eat at the end of October '14, I was 157.8lbs. I don't have a before picture from that point but I have a midway picture from February when I started to use Soylent. My initial goal was 135. When I hit that, I changed it to 130. This morning, I weighed in at 128.6 and…

The horse-killing farts was something that happened on Soylent 1.0 - 1.2. It was resolved with version 1.3 and beyond (it's currently at version 1.4) I've been on Soylent for about two months now and it comprises most of my intake (I usually only eat 'real food' on social occasions -- so once or twice every few weeks). I…

So hey, what's up? As the creator of the 'They're all beautiful' image, I thought I would jump in and explain the image a bit. I made the graphic in response to the original, offensive one that was floating around Facebook. It pissed me off to no end because I am tired of this body-shaming crap that hurts ALL women, only…

Skinny people complaining about being fat-- You never know what a person is dealing with. I was in and out of eating disorder programs for most of my teens and 20s. There was a girl there who, when at summer camp when she was 12, was raped by one of the counselors. And the entire time he was raping her, he called her a…

Looking at your diary, there are a lot of things you can cut. The cereal and milk in the morning, the bagels, the cake, the hot chocolate, the cookie dough... I know your pain. Before I started to watch what I ate, I pretty much ate all carbs. Sugar, diary, bread, etc. For breakfast, instead of cereal and milk, have eggs…

SBD isn't really a 'diet'. It's a system for a lifestyle change. If you're just looking to do it to fit into a dress and then abandon it afterwards, it's probably not worth the time.

You'll want to measure your waist at the navel if you're a guy. Women should be measuring at the smallest part of their torso (usually a couple inches above the navel) to get their waist measurement.

Keep your sugars and carbs very low. That is what has helped me reduce my belly fat (that's also where I carry my weight, aren't we lucky?).

Time just had an article about diet soda: http://healthland.time.com/2011/06/29/studies-why-diet-sodas-are-no-boon-to-dieters/?hpt=he_c2

I'm 5'10", small frame and my goal is somewhere between 130-135 (which I have met, hurrah!). From here, I expect it to go up as I build more muscle. So honestly, I don't know what my ultimate goal weight is -- I just want to be fit, toned and not flabby!

I have found it really useful to plan out my meals ahead of time and take that food with me to work instead of relying on cafeterias/restaurants/vending machines. I enter everything into MFP in the morning, make little adjustments as I see are needed (ie. I need more protein - add a scoop of tunafish in the afternoon; too…

Have you been eating more sugar/carbs lately? I've been trying to avoid processed sugar and keep my carbs low for a little while now. Then my dad rolled into town for a visit and I went wild. Cake! Bread! Fried cheese sticks! And I noticed, the day after? I was SO TIRED. Just exhausted down to my bones.

Hard bodied guys are nice to look at but I prefer a little cushion. It's nicer to hug, snuggle and get funky with someone like that. But everyone is different! A girl I work with loses her mind for men with ripped bodies. And no matter how nice a guy's body is -- abs, chest, arms, whatever -- it wouldn't make me overlook…

Actually, I'd stay away from grapes/raisins. They are sugar bombs! Other fruits (and especially berries) aren't as high in sugar. I'll echo what other people have mentioned: nuts and rice cakes! For the later, I like to get the white cheddar flavored kind.

Yes but when you see a movie star or model's bust-waist-hip measurements being something like 34-24-34, the 24" part is at the smallest part of the torso (ie few inches above the belly button, at the natural waist); it would look really strange if they were 24" across the belly button with those measurements. As far as…

I hate running but I love the floaty feeling after I am done. For over a month, I stuck exclusively to ellipticals and stationary bikes (4-6 times a week, 65 minutes at a time). Then I decided to try the treadmill. I would walk (4.0 mph) for five minutes, run (5.0 - 6.0 mph) for five minutes, alternating like this for 65…

Of course, every once in a while (about once a month or so), I go all out and have a big slice of cake at a local restaurant here. It's okay to have a treat day as long as they are not too often!

Lately, after dinner, I have one Trader Joe's Vanilla Ice Cream Bon Bon. It's vanilla ice cream on top of a bit of chocolate cookie/cake, covered entirely in chocolate. It's a very small portion (just one!) but since it's real ingredients (not diet versions), it's very sweet and satisfying. It's only 60 calories but best…

I second this! When I started, I eyeballed things and used measuring cups. But then I started using a food scale and I was AMAZED at what actually equaled a serving size. I was overestimating. A lot!

When on a cardio machine, don't constantly peek over at the person next to you. I hate it when people look at my speed/RPM/level/etc. It makes me feel very self conscious! And I'm like TourThePast: I find some workout clothes that I like, I stock up. I have five or six of everything!

I usually do well with breakfast, noon-lunch and afternoon-lunch. But I usually fall apart for dinner (this kind of holds true during the week as well but especially so on weekends). Plus, I tend to go to the movies and I have yet to summon the willpower to pass on the buttered popcorn.

For breakfast, I have 2 egg whites, 1 regular egg scrambled in 1 tbsp of Smart Balance 50/50 butter and a half-serving of fruit, usually berries because they are lower in sugar. I eat a lot of fruit and they have carbs which is why I stick to half-portions (so I can enjoy fruit throughout the day) . So if you don't eat a…

Me too! I've set a weight goal but my main concern is swapping flab for muscle and being healthier and fitter in general.

I know this isn't contributing anything to discussion but I just have to say: GOD, I LOVE NUTS. ...and a negative million internet points to anyone who replies with 'that's what she said'. ;) But no, really. Nuts are awesome. I remember the first time I tried eating healthy but didn't really know what I was doing, I would…

No kidding! Just reading that made me angry! Who DOES that?

I burn more calories on the elliptical, it's easier on my knees and it doesn't make me feel like I want to die after five minutes. But I must say, I love the floaty feeling I get when I get off the treadmill after an hour while my body is adjusting to walking on solid ground that isn't moving beneath me again. It makes me…

For those who say it gets easier .. how soon does that happen? When did you start to notice? I am doing girl push-ups and, honestly, I can hardly even do that! I barely go down; I can't imagine the day when I will be able to go almost all the way down to the floor and then back up again! Damn me and my little noodle arms...

I used to have a bowl of plain Cheerios with blueberries but my trainer really wants me to get away from that (for multiple reasons: many times, people don't actually eat a single serving -- they just fill their bowl; sugar in milk; prefer to start the day with a protein). So, at his recommendation, this is what I now have…

My trainer has told me to eat a meal every four hours and that I should have protein at each meal, get in some good fat, avoid dairy if possible (he considers milk a sugar bomb) and minimize carbs. I told me that I should be shooting for 1400 calories per day minimum and that each of these meals should be between 350 - 400…

I first time I went to my gym, I walked into the locker room and BAM! There was an old lady, her back to me, bent over and completely naked. It was quite a sight to see! And I don't understand the girls who dry their hair and do their makeup completely naked. Even at home, I at least put on panties first. Granted, I'm also…
