ooo peanut butter! That a big ingredient in 2 of my 4 daily shakes. Yum.
-
Not necessarily. It could also mean you weren't lifting enough in the first place.

After 5 minutes of thinking, there's no way I could pick just one food. I do enjoy a good chocolate chip cookie though. Or a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. Or... yeah no, can't pick one.

Nice. My buddy just bought a Margaritaville machine for a birthday party tomorrow. My sugar intake is going to be ugly.

Clean eating to most people just means organic, non processed (whatever that means), blah blah blah. It's a useless term mostly thrown around to make people feel better about themselves and what they're eating. This article by Alan Aragon (dietary guru IMHO) sums it up nicely.…

Genetics will make it more or less difficult, but not impossible.

The forum isn't called "healthy food and nutrition". If it goes in your body it belongs here, good or bad.

Please see the study the OP posted.

Please explain.

For me personally, it's about trying to combat opinion with fact. The internet is rife with opinion that all too often is interpreted as fact. I'm not "pro" or "con" anything, except pro truth. Rampant hysteria is why this aspartame issue exists in the first place. Aspartame has been studied to death and yet we still argue…
-
Hopefully you avoid dairy, fish, chicken, and citrus fruit because those all contain the metabolites of aspartame is MUCH higher quantities.
-
Can we please get our facts straight? Aspartame breaks down COMPLETELY into 3 things in the body. Aspartic acid, phenylalanine (both naturally occurring amino acids), and methanol. The body converts methanol into formaldehyde which then converts to formic acid. This is a normal bodily process in response to methanol. Guess…

Awesome guys. Looks like cutting out crap is the most popular choice! Just last night I had the munchies and would have destroyed a large bag of chips if they were around. Had to "settle" for yoghurt and hemp hearts plus a protein shake ;)

That's the one. Sorry, McMaster, not UBC. I had a good discussion with Cam and Stuart (heads of the study) about the fact that none of these studies ever seem to be done on trained individuals. At first they were quite defensive of their work, largely due to all the negative feedback they received from the body building…

To be honest, I don't recall. It was probably from around 2 years ago at the University of British Columbia. Still looking for the study

Good stuff! I'd like to add something about rep ranges. I'm currently looking for the study but a local University did a study on rep ranges and found that there was no difference in hypertrophy between med (6-12) and much higher rep ranges. The much higher rep ranges actually yielded slightly better results. Higher in…

Using "what" in place of "that". "Hey, how much was that pie what you bought from the store?" "For all intensive purposes", when they mean "for all intents and purposes"

F'it. can't seem to post picture

If I don't go for sushi I'll probably have eggs, bacon, kamut bread, an avocado, and a V8. If I go for sushi it will be tuna tempura, salmon tempura, some kind of roll.. probably unagi, and a beer or 3.

@JustAmyDawn Quit smiling! Why are you so damn happy all the time!!?? It's over

This. I use straps AFTER my grip gives out.

Which chemicals are you concerned about? I'm hoping this doesn't turn into another aspartame thread. Let's get some facts out of the way. In your body, Aspartame metabolizes into 3 things, Aspartate, Methanol, and Phenylalanine. All 3 of which are found in MUCH higher concentrations in naturally occurring foods that you…

People that can't figure out how to hold an umbrella in the wind. I realize this doesn't affect me in any way but I feel like if aliens are watching it's not making us look so smart.

There is a very large elephant in the room of this thread. The basics are accurate though. Lift heavy weights to build ab muscles. Lose body fat to reveal them.
-
I think it should be clarified that while certain exercises will feel as though they are working the "upper" and "lower" portion of the abs more or less, they are not affecting the upper or lower portion of the rectus abdominis muscle any differently. The rectus abdominis is the most visual, "6 pack" portion of the…

I'm being serious.

I'm still snickering at the fact that a plus sized dress store is called "The Dressbarn" lol
