  • Hey - keep posting to this thread if you find other ones you particularly like! That's a great idea - I love my instant Netflix! I'm doing Insanity now but when I'm done I might just check them out!! Thanks! Jennifer
  • My 7 year old daughter. I had some eating issues in my teens and twenties and had well meaning but clueless parents. I am determined to set the best example I can and keep the communication lines open for both of my kids. I only let her see me trying to eat healthier and exercise for a fit body....it's NEVER about losing…
  • Not sure how old you are, but I have to agree. Right when I hit 36, holy cow! I used to be able to just drop a few pounds in a week or two. Now it's a total struggle and I have to work out way harder than before. Well, at least as far as getting older goes....everybody's doing it! Welcome! Jennifer
  • This post makes me sad. Why do people have to be so ignorant? It's ridiculous. They are just jealous, that's all. I get the "looks" because I am not very overweight. I came to MFP because I am soooo sick of gaining and losing 15 pounds each and every year. I have learned so much in my short time here and am eating so much…
  • What an awesome job! You look fabulous!!
  • What a fabulous attitude you have. You really do "get it". And you look great too!
  • I bought the Dove Dark Chocolate "Smooth and Silky" pieces. I eat three (126 cal). Dark chocolate is good for you (in moderation of course!) anyway! Yum yum yum.
  • Rock on girlfriend.
  • You look fabulous! Now smile!! :-)!
  • Totally trying this - thanks! Could also modify to make a dip for the Superbowl!
  • I'm kind of confused as to why this keeps coming up over and over again. If it works for you, GREAT. If it doesn't, then don't do it. But it seems really self-righteous to tell me not to do something that is clearly working for me. I like the person who described it as a "free" day instead. I don't log on Saturdays…
  • Ha! Look at that - we said almost the exact same thing! We must be so smart lol.
  • I *think* the more intense you workout, you may experience longer term benefits as far as burning calories afterwards. But in general a calorie is a calorie. I did, however, have a trainer who once told me that how much you sweat is a pretty good indication of how hard you have worked. But I'm not claiming to be an…
  • Well I hope then that you can see just how many people are concerned! If you just try to digest the good advice people have written (ignore the couple of mean-spirited ones) and start by making small changes that aren't overwhelming, I'm sure you'll see results that you will like!
  • My best workout day is usually Tuesday - Biggest Loser day! I watched Heavy for the first time last week and liked that too! Looks like I have some other shows to get on the DVR schedule!
  • Holy cow I am crying. Sitting next to my two young children watching a movie (Rugrats) and overcome with emotion. Thanks for the dose of reality. Please feel free to add me as your friend. We're all pulling for your better health! It sure sounds like you can do it!! ((hugs))
  • I have one knee that has gone through about 7 surgeries, including three reconstructions, has no cartilage and is arthritic. When I first started Shred, I felt the same way. I do NOT go as low on the lunges and squats....and I believe that I have succeeded strengthening it like you are trying to do. I used to be able to…
  • I am having shrimp with pasta. Sauteed shrimp in olive oil and minced garlic, then added cooked Ronzoni Smart Taste spaghetti and some basil. YUM. The whole dinner (4oz shrimp) is less than 450 calories. You can have more!
  • This answer is sad. I'm sorry but I'm even starting to wonder if the OP is for real. We all were young and lived at home and an 18yo person can make better choices that this. Did you LOOK at her diary? No one is forcing 6 pieces of pizza for lunch and McDonald's chicken nuggets for breakfast. She doesn't have to eat…
  • www.eatingwell.com Recommended in another thread and I couldn't get off of it last night! So much good stuff!
  • Awesome post - thanks so much!
  • I am not trying to be mean here. You are young. But it is not surprising at all to me now that I looked at your diary. Your food choices are just terrible. Sometimes you are eating under your calories, but a lot of times are you over. But what you are eating in those calories is almost pure junk. Ten McDonald's chicken…
  • I did a similar thing just last night. Cut a potato into chips, then sprayed with olive oil spray and a few sprays of spray butter, then sprinkled with Mrs. Dash's Garlic and Herb seasoning. (trying to watch sodium intake). So good, and a little spicy! 110 calories and it was a big serving, seemed like so much more than…
  • I'm elliptical all the way, but I have had a lot of knee problems so it's better for me. If you don't feel like you're getting enough of a workout, then maybe change the resistance. The trainer I asked told me that the resistance is way more important than the incline. My knees feel better on a lower incline (4) so I try…
  • I too love to read on the elliptical, and having a Kindle has made it SO much easier. I have read the entire Phillippa Gregory series. You may have heard of one of her novels, The Other Boleyn Girl. Most of them are historical fiction at the time of Henry VIII. It got me SO interested in that time period, and I was never…
  • Someone said a free day is "planning to fail". I think that is harsh. I love having a free day on the weekends. I have lost more weight since instituting that. I used to always weigh more on Monday mornings than I did on Friday mornings. When I let myself have flexibility one day (usually Saturday) I've been losing more…

  • Just take a handweight and put it on the scales to see how accurate it is. I was relieved to see 5.0 lbs exactly when I tested my scale with my 5lb handweight. Also, gym scales or doctor's scales are probably right (well at least the dr scale). If you weigh first thing in the morning like me, the other scales will always…
  • Not sure if this thread is still active, but I ran across it and wanted to respond. I started Insanity on January 9 (Sunday) and am on Day 18 tomorrow. Haven't missed a workout yet (except today I was supposed to do Cardio Abs and Pure Cardio but am moving the Abs portion to bundle with Recovery tomorrow, I also did a…
  • Oh and I should add that if you truly want to eat your calories, then I'm sorry I didn't actually answer your question!! Nuts (cashews are my personal favorite) pack a lot of calories in a little package, with lots of protein!
