If you want slim arms - you will have to tweak your diet so you lose the fat on top.

When I was wearing a stability shoe I loved Mizuno Wave Inspires. However, I switched to Brooks Pure Connects which are a minimalist shoe - and I will never go back. All of the shin pain that i dealt with disappeared!

Alternatively.... you could easily be eating too much!! If you are not in a deficit you will not lose weight.

I have mine set to 1 lb per week..... and I'm just a pound or two away from my goal. The loss has been VERY non-linear for the past 6 months...... I was stuck at 139-140 for months... and just this week dropped down to 136. Then I got a stomach virus and dropped to 133. I expect to gain some of that dehydration weight…

bump. no one? Adonis index either?

You don't need any electrolyte supplementation for a 5k. I only eat when my runs go longer than 1.5 hours. And I never use Gu (gels). I don't like the taste and it upsets my stomach. I usually bring a Clif bar and eat it in small pieces along the way.

I'm 5'9" current weight 136.6 this am..... goal is 133. I'm almost there!!

Zero.

LOL... more people should read this statement and take it to heart!!

Is THAT Richard Simmons??? He doesn't look very good. Where's the 'fro?

Depending on the day I usually have 200-600 leftover at the end. It really depends on my workout. I try to eat 1500-1600 calories per day. And if i've gone running or worked out particularly hard I will have a balance left at the end of the day. I don't usually "eat back my calories" or at least not completely.

I also had a good week. I started consciously increasing my protein and now the scale has finally budged again!

Actually, I agree. The touch bezel can be a pain in the *kitten*.

<endorphin junkie. Your post does not even compute.

I upgraded my 205 to a 405cx (and yes it IS smaller). I like mine.... although I think the calorie burn based on the HRM is a bit low. I'm not the only one to have that observation. But, for running I love it.

I'm sorry you feel so overwhelmed. I think you might be trying to do too much at once.... take baby steps! 1. Make sure your depression is being treated. If you are on meds and they are not working, tell your doc. And see a therapist. 2. As previous posters suggested, try focusing on fresh, whole foods..... that alone will…

I use a fuel belt. I tried a camel back and had chafing around my under-arm area. NOT good.

Yes, all of that. A PR is on an official race course.

I ran a half marathon yesterday and for a while the 5k folks were running with the half mary folks until the split at mile 2. I passed a woman who had to be 300 lbs. She looked great! I was so impressed that she was out there in a race. So I say go for it.

+1. There's nothing like endurance sports for that fabulous endorphin kick!!

My pace for 2 miles - if i was racing - would be about 8 min/mile. But, if I'm just jogging around the neighborhood I would run probably 9:30 or 10:00 mile. And I'm a middle of the pack runner. There are lots of fast people, lots of slow people and even more people somewhere in the middle. It's great that you get out and…

I think you need to see how you feel. Yes, cross-training can be great for runners. However, it is also very easy to over-train and risk injury. When I was building up mileage for a long race..... the only other activities I did were biking and yoga. I found those to be complementary and did not over-strain my legs. So I…

That's because when you set up your account and decide how many lbs per week you want to lose - MFP creates a deficit for you by building it into your daily calorie allotment. Because of this - when you exercise you create an even larger deficit... which is not always good for you. If you eat too little calories it can…

Hi! Cool kid here too!! I turned 42 yesterday and I'm in better physical shape than I was at 22. I ran a half marathon today without training for it.... I'm pretty pleased with myself. :glasses:

Weight loss is all about creating the deficit. Exercise (cardio) will help you create more of a deficit than just diet alone. It's also great for your health! Strength training exercise, while it doesn't burn many calories by itself is great for increasing lean mass and improving metabolism. Lastly, exercise is also great…

I don't wear underwear when I run. Running shorts have a built-in liner usually. And if I'm wearing tights I just don't wear anything underneath. Problem solved!
-
Here are the problems I see with this...... you are 5'9 1/2" tall and you weigh 114-ish? That is quite underweight. Even super lean female marathoners of a similar height weigh around 120-125. (I'm thinking of Paula Radcliffe who is 5'8", 120 lbs). Secondly, your statement about your father getting angry with you about…

I'm 42 (today!), 5'9", 138 lbs. From what I can tell..... calipers, calculators, and that handheld BIA thing all have me at 19.5-20.5% right now.

Exactly!! What's wrong with feeling hungry sometimes? It's the NOT feeling hungry ever that made us all get fat in the first place!!

Eat 20% under TDEE.
