Laura, Your numbers are the same as my wife. She also has a goal of getting down to 150 pounds. She was at your starting weight just 7 months ago and she has lost 53 pounds since then by eating an average of 1650 calories per day. You are 15 years younger than her so you may be able to eat even more calories than her and…

Exercise more or eat less calories. A person with more pounds that they want to lose can cut back more calories safely than can someone who has a smaller number of pounds they want to lose. But you are doing a near perfect job of losing both weight and inches right now. Congratulations on what you have been already doing.…

With only 35 pounds to lose just a small change in diet could mean a huge change in weight over 6 months to a year. Yes it is your diet. No it is not because you sit around and do nothing. Yes you should exercise and get healthier. Having a healthy diet makes you more healthy it does not cause weight loss. You can gain…

In theory it would be the same but exercise has many benefits other than just weight loss. I find that I may lose weight at a slower rate when I exercise but it is only temporary water weight gain from my body holding extra water in the muscles. Also exercise helps to preserve existing muscles and possibly build a small…

It sounds like you have been getting some pretty good results. 1/2 to 1 pound per week is a good sustainable healthy weight loss. Good Job!

Walking is good for your health. Swimming, bicycling, tennis, weight lifting, etc, etc. Exercise is good for your body in many ways. Cutting down calories is necessary for weight loss. But YES walking does work.

Every person is different as far as to what they feel comfortable with. Some people can fast for months on end and lose all their weight very quickly which is not recommended. There are others who lose 1/2 pound per week and are happy with losing that way. You have been losing close to 1 pound per week which is actually…

I suggest that you keep on doing the awesome job that you have already been doing. You seem to be doing a perfect job of losing weight and I don't see how you can improve on perfect. Everyone has a different way of doing things and what works for others may or may not work for you. Congratulations on your loss and keep up…

Don't be discouraged. Exercise is not a requirement for losing weight. 1200 calories is a low enough calorie intake to lose weight. Stick with it for at least 3 months and be as accurate as possible with how many calories you drink and eat each day and you will see weight loss. You can do this!
-
I doubt that 1200 calories is slowing down your weight loss but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't eat more. It seems like 1500 to 1800 would be a healthier calorie intake and one in which you would still lose weight. Trying to lose 2 pounds per week when you are so close to your goal weight is pretty aggressive. 1/2…

To lose weight lower your calories. Log every single day and include every drink and every last bit of food if you want an accurate idea of your calorie intake. If you have not lost weight in the last several months then you have been eating at maintainence and need to cut down on your calories. Keep up the good work with…

Patience. Weight loss is not linear. One pound per week is a fast weight loss for someone with so little weight to lose. If you truly are doing everything right then you will see results just maybe not in your time frame. I have had to wait as long as 3 weeks to see a loss doing everything right and then a huge loss…

Exercise is for health and looking good. Even with no exercise at all you will lose weight with eating less calories than your body needs. And patience is required, it takes a long time to lose a lot of weight but it is worth it when you get there.

If you are mainly concerned about what the number on the scale says then no do not exercise just cut down on your calorie intake to as low as you can stand. With no exercise you will probably lose more pounds because you will not only be losing fat but you most likely will be losing some of your muscle and some water…

He is right about building up to it. He will push himself as he feels stronger and more confident. It is better to start out slower and not injure yourself. Weight loss is going to come from eating less calories than he needs. Any exercise will help to burn a few more calories. Walking is a great type of exercise.
-
Walking is my favorite exercise. I enjoy outdoor walking the most. Lowering your calories will help you to lose weight. Exercise will help you to look good in that smaller body.

You can keep the weight off. It takes an effort to lose weight, it takes an effort to keep the weight off. You will always have to control how many calories you put into your body no matter what weight you are at. You have lost 50 lbs before by self contol and you can do it again. I don't have any food advice, just count…

Lets see, if I sit on the couch and watch tv for 2 hours I will lose the same amount of fat as I will if I go out and do cardio for those 2 hours. Yeah, it makes a lot of sense to me. Not. But I do agree weight lifting is great for muscle building which also helps to burn more calories.
-
Instead of beating yourself up you should be proud of yourself that you have kept your calories to only 2000 per day. Two days at 2000 calories per day is not going to make you fat. Some people actually do this on purpose so their body doesn't get too used to their usual low calorie diet.

This is my natural diet. It seems there is always a reason to eat more calories. Birthdays, anniversary, holiday, eating out at restaurants, favorite foods that someone made that I just don't want to resist, are just a few of the reasons that come to mind that help me to calorie cycle without any effort. Does it work to…

I have been drinking 5 to 10 cups of black coffee per day for the last six months. It has been a huge help for me in keeping my energy level up and my appetite level down. It has helped me to lose 89 pounds so I think I will just stick with it for now.

If Bacon is wrong. I don't want to be right.
-
You can eat anything you want if you are happy to live with the results. When I ate and drank whatever I wanted the results were not good. So now I am trying to make better decisions because I have children and grandchildren who would like to see me in good health.

Black coffee.

Millions of people are doing this every day although many of them have no choice about it. It takes 3 to 5 days to fully digest all the food in your system so I am not sure how much rest your body will be getting but it certainly shouldn't hurt you any. I don't know about any detox effect unless normally you are putting a…

No. Being healthy and losing weight are two different things. Eating a healthy diet does not necessarily mean that a person will lose more weight than if they ate less healthy. We exercise and eat healthy so that we can look good and feel good. We eat less calories than our bodies need so that we can force our body to use…

Sometimes when the scale weight is not going down your body is getting in better shape and your measurements go down. Are your clothes getting looser? This last month have you gotten a lot more exercise than you have the previous couple of months? If you have you could be holding more water in your muscles and masking your…

You are getting water in some form or you would not be alive. I hope you can continue to keep finding ways to stay hydrated. I add water to my coffee all the time just to get more water into my system so there is nothing wrong with watering down any drink you want like juice or milk if that is something you want to do.…

Wales originally but that was before my time.

I understand what you are saying because I get frustrated when I do not see a smaller number on the scale. But I do feel encouraged when I can get into smaller clothing. If I could not see either one of those changes then I would be extremely frustrated and wonder if I was doing everthing in my power to change things. For…
