  • It took me four months, but I started at 153. I was doing the 5:2 Diet (UK) but now I'm doing 1200 cal per day. If I had been heavier, it might have come off quicker. The smaller you get, the harder it seems to be.
  • I wouldn't even think of doing this, but my hat's off to you. I do believe it's a personal journey for each of us. I'm not even greatly overweight, but the difference 20 lbs. makes in my self esteem (and clothing) is worth all the "work" it takes to get it off. I'm glad you're watching your health. I suspect a physician…
  • calorie count? Sounds great...but....
  • Congrats!!!
  • These are so inspiring. ALL of them. I have not met my target weight loss yet, but I'm already worried about maintenance because as a senior, as it's SO hard to take off. (I only need to lose about 25 lbs. total, but it's arduous. I'm down 14 lbs now.) Knowing how I love food and wine, I worry that I'll go back to old…
  • Congratulations!! It's really tough to quit and not gain weight. When I quit (many many years ago) I kept fresh squeezed orange juice on my desk and everytime I wanted a cigarette, I took a sip of juice instead. There's something about the citric that makes the tissues in your mouth feel like they're getting nicotine.…

  • I did Nutrisystem for a month before coming here, and they give you dessert every night (lo cal) so I got "trained" on how to do dinner and dessert without going over my calories, and I still do that. I buy sugar free individually wrapped chocolates and eat one or two. Or One of anything that's low cal but satisfies that…
  • I don't cheat, but once in awhile I'll "splurge" my allotted calories on something less than healthy... today I ate a Taco Bell soft taco supreme with hot sauce, and boy did it taste good. But THAT was instead of a Burrito Supreme (which would have been my old choice) . The difference in calories is huge But I don't do…
  • Yes, eat the 700 calories, but make sure they're the "right" calories and not the sugar/fat/sodium kind. It's easy to eat 700 calories in cookies, but you won't lose any weight! Good luck. Wish I had your exercise gene. Sigh.
  • Oh, thanks for this. I love tomato soup, and this looks really good. I'll try it tomorrow!!
  • yeah I haven't figured it out either. But it does show the individual items (from the meal) in my Foods section (without looking them up) so I just use that.
  • Oh, I cook for one and need to 'my topics' this recipe!! Thank you. I LOVE meatloaf.
  • Thanks, this looks wonderful! I never kept the seeds either, so double thanks! (sounds very healthy on both counts.)
  • Terrific information, thanks!
  • Hi Maria, I just started reading some of the MANY threads on this forum. There's so much helpful advice and recipes, etc. to help you lose the weight. Just read a lot here, I'm sure you'll see answers. Welcome!
  • I went to your profile to congratulate Losing_It on 50 pounds. (Yikes, that's so wonderful!!) but I have no idea how to leave a comment? I hope you come back and read this. I'm just very impressed with that loss, you're doing great.
  • Thanks to all of you! And best of luck with the weight losses. It's easier to do with others, so many thanks.
  • Another newbie. Just coming off a month of NutriSystem and determined to control my calories and portions myself hereafter. I don't have a lot to lose, but at age the metabolism is stubborn, and you know it's hard to lose (and oh, so easy to gain) at any age. Anyway, this is a terrific website. Thanks for the opportunity…
