  • Thanks for the ideas everyone. I didn't get to exercise today which was probably for the best. I always try to go on Friday and literally almost fall off the treadmill from exhaustion. I think I may just make Friday exercise free day and make it up one day on the weekend. I've tried maintaining less exercise, like 3 times…
  • I'm 5'5" even 163lbs medium frame Bottoms - size 8 sometimes size 6 (I'm wearing a 6 Ann Taylor Loft short right now) Top M Dress 10 DD so large chested Very apple shaped, all my weight is in my chest and stomach.
  • Looks like a big 'ol workout pooper to me. She's just mad that you aren't making excuses for not working out. I get the same old crap from my mother when she comes over wanting hamburgers, fries, and cupcakes for lunch and I want a salad. She gets all pissy with me. I used to see it at work too. I don't know why us gals…
  • I'm a "if it ain't broke don't fix it kinda gal" myself. It think you should stick to what you've been doing. Give it a few weeks then make a change if it's not working.

  • This is a fantastic article. Thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to try and find the original study.
  • This is sooo fantastic! Congratulations! I haven't weighed myself in forever. It just ticks me off. So I'm going by measurements and body fat percentage. What cut are you doing? TDEE-15%?
  • My husband is built with massive tree trunk legs. He runs and does upper body workouts. It makes him look very lean. His legs get much slimmer but still have shape. The running keeps them toned but doesn't build them up.
  • I thought the purpose of having MFP friends was to help you make better decisions. I fully expect my MFP friends to call me out on a bad meal choice or questionable exercise calories. How in the world am I going to make better choices if no one shows me what I'm doing wrong. I'm not saying be mean to me but say, "hey,…
  • How are you estimating your exercise calories? You may be over-estimating, especially if it's an exercise your body is used to. You burn much less calories doing the same thing over and over again. So your TDEE may be a bit lower than you think. Just a thought.
  • Is it your stomach or all over that you gained? You may be severely bloated. On the plus side, is that you are holding steady. That is a VERY good thing. I have a injury so have dropped a lot of the exercise and lifting. Three pounds came off instantaneously, obviously not fat, just water that my muscle was storing. I have…
  • It's all hereditary. Usually from whatever side you take after. I look like my dad and my stomach has stretchmarks and changed shape just like my dad's sister's did. Even with my body fat lower than before my pregnancies my stomach will never look the same unless I get a tummy tuck.
  • Wow, that is really low. I'm only 5'5" and mine is 1478. I never eat lower than 1500/1600 calories and do a ton of strength training. You need to drop some cardio, increase weights and increase calories. It's the only way. Think of it this way, you are going to gain weight anyways because your RMR is so low and there is no…
  • I agree with sarahrbraun. You have more definition in your abs and legs. I would drop some more cardio and increase weight training time and weight size and up your calories to TDEE-15%.
  • Girl, I'm right there with you. Doing NROLFW and seriously injured my right wrist and forearm from deadlifts. I've been icing it every night but no improvement. It doesn't help that I have to take care of two young kids and I'm constantly picking them up. Last week I did HITT and incline treadmill all week with some legs…
  • Yes, I know my BF% from calipers. It's 29.2%. And I have a huge amount of LBM hence my BMR is a bit higher than average. Just trying to get my stubborn BF to 22-24%.
  • This happened to me when I tried the 1200 calories diet and didn't eat back exercise (I was clueless about the net calories thing). I did this for 20 days and literally ended up at the hospital from dizziness and vertigo. They had to put me on three different medications including valium to stop it. I really screwed up my…
  • Thanks everyone. I'm actually pretty concerned I've reached the full strength of my wrists and forearms. I'm saying that because even as a child I had problems in gymnastics and ballet with my wrists and ankles giving way during tumbling and toe ballet. Then my forearms started to hurt from lifting my son out of the car…
  • Thanks everyone for the encouragement. It always helped me to see the success stories so I hope mine helps others as well!
  • I guess that's my confusion. I've been lifting the whole time since February (well actually way before that but that's when I started tracking on here). I'm just doing less exercises with NROLFW and more reps over the week. They aren't anything new to me either. And with a deficit I shouldn't be muscle-building just…
  • Protein powder is not processed in the way you think it's processed. It's "broken down" to the whey part of milk. Every heard of curds and whey? People used to eat whey all the time in the old days. My husband and I just had a discussion about this and found a whole website that talks about curds and whey and what they…
  • My neck is somwhere between 13.5 and 14" thick so VERY thick. I curse my parents on a daily basis for that one! LOL!!! And I know what you mean by torturing yourself...I look at the scale everyday knowing it won't be moving since I'm lifting and doing NROLFW. I come on here like somehow the weight will magically fall off…
  • Are you maxing your protein out? How many grams are you eating a day? Ever since I've increased my protein to 140g-160g my energy is through the roof.
  • Step away from the ledge...... An online BF% says I'm 36% bodyfat which I know to be false. I have had it tested at two different gyms and I'm 30-31%. The problem with me is I have a very thick neck which gives me a false BF reading when it's done by a tape measure. Can you go get your BF tested at a local YMCA?
  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's 15 each leg so really 30 total? The book says, "repeat with your opposite leg forward, and continue to alternate until you've done all the repetitions on each leg." I feel a little pressure at the gym because I go at 3:30pm when all the highschool boys and, for some reason,…
  • So I checked out the online calculators yesterday and got a bodyfat of 36%! I did calipers at two different gyms and they both gave me 30.5%. I think if you have lots of muscle the online calculators and the bodyfat scales don't work well (at least not for me). I'd do the calipers. I bet a local YMCA will do it for free or…

  • Yep, I got this when I was eating 1200 calories AND working out. Made myself sick, blood sugar was in the 50s and 60s (I'm NOT diabetic but I do have a meter), sweating and got so dizzy ended up at the doctors. I'm now eating many more calories and more spread out and I don't feel this anymore. I also upped my protein…
  • I'd consider myself an advanced lifter. Been heavy lifting with a trainer every week for two years consistently then before my pregnancy another three years before that. My body shape is pretty good. Super muscular..... with a nice layer of fat on top :/ I feel like those that started as newbies have better progress than…
  • Hmmm, I just went to the more accurate one at it says my BMR is 1434 (actual 1478 through testing) and my cut would be somewhere between 1779-1890 calories. Wow, so I should up my calories then? By 100-200 calories?
