  • Again with the "Net" calories. These forums are the only place you'll ever hear those words and if you keep listening to random people on here, I wouldn't be surprised if you gained weight eating 2200 calories a day. I know, I'm just another random person on the net with very little credentials so I'll just refer you to a…
  • These forums are the only place you will find someone with the false belief that you must "NET" a certain amount of calories a day to fuel the body. Otherwise problems will occur? Like the shut down of bodily organs or maybe "slower metabolism, brittle hair and nails, poor skin, and low energy"? This is paranoid, fear…
  • If you read these forums, you will be confused. The NET business was something created by these forums. You won't hear it anywhere else.
  • Don't take my word for it. Ask a real dietitian in the link below. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/13105-ask-the-dietitian
  • Doctors never tell you to net 1700 calories. That is something people pick up from being here on MFP.
  • I'm pretty sure it's too much for her. She says she NETS 1700 calories which means she eats back all of her exercise calories in addition to the 1700 calories. Sounds like she's eating anywhere in the range of 2100 to 2500 calories a day. I also agree with you on the VLCD comment. She doesn't seem to understand what VLCD…
  • When dietitians give you a calorie count to eat, it already includes exercise. If you net 1700 calories, you are most likely doing it wrong and putting on unwanted weight. .
  • Eating small meals doesn't work for everyone. If you want to eat tiny meals throughout the day, fitness pros stress drinking 1 or 2 full glasses of water before every meal. If you don't like doing that, you could try doing something more natural. Eat until you are full but only eating once or twice a day. Most people who…
  • You need to have a low bodyfat in order for muscle to be lost when doing cardio. Otherwise, you can do as much as you want.
  • Do whatever works for you. I have a friend who gets great results from jogging 45 minutes first and then he hits the weights for an hour and a half.
  • Those activities that are bolder involve no impact to the knee. Read my post above for explanation.
  • I blame food corporations. They lobby just about everything from the food pyramid to eating 3 square meals a day. I think we're up to 5 meals as healthy now right? Breakfast is the most important too right? Ever see those commercials for healthy cereals? Eat, eat, eat! That's all they ever promote. Being obese is now the…
  • If you are serious about getting faster. You have to build more muscles in your legs. No way around it. Squats help a lot. There are other exercises but I can't think of them now.
  • You burn about 10% more calories with an indoor track due to wind resistance. You need to jog with a small incline to make up the difference on a treadmill. Jogging with an incline can suck for your calfs though but eventually you get use to it. Just do what you feel most comfortable with.
  • Thanks MinimalistShoe. Forgot about running form. :)
  • I've answered this in the other thread so this is just a copy and paste answer below with some revisions but it's the same for the most part. If you continue to run through your pain, it can become permanent with the only relief being surgery. Takes a real stubborn individual to destroy your legs that way though. Don't run…
  • Sounds like you are continuing to run even though your shins are hurting. Don't ignore the pain. Your body is literally telling you to stop. Otherwise the pain can become permanent in simple walking motions. Takes a long time for this to happen and a real idiot to continue ignoring the pain. Things you can do to protect…
  • It includes exercise. You just described BMR. TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure which is self explanatory.
  • She's probably confusing TDEE with BMR. Unless maybe you have a medical problem?
  • There's a member on here who forcefully shoved food down his throat that had his stomach ruptured. He didn't listen to his body even though he was full and puking. Listen to your body first, not what people tell you on the forums. He's a nice guy though, always trying to help people.
  • Sounds like you want to eat after you exercise in the morning and then another meal at dinner time? That's not really how IF works if you're going to eat breakfast and dinner. I'm not sure how analytical you want to get with this but it is actually better to wait at least an hour after you train to eat something in order…
  • Nothing wrong with losing weight fast.
  • I just ask them if they want to hit the gym with me.
  • I hate you because you're skinny and beautiful.
  • The people who are rooting that "it will catch up with them" to their skinny friend who looks like they can eat anything.
  • So much hate and jealous people in this thread.
  • Fasting is considered healthy in the realm of science, nutrition, and people that want to build muscle. Research has recently been coming together on it and it has a lot of positive results. Hard to explain everything but check out the videos below on how to do it right. Hodgetwins. Two buff twins that practice…

  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/49-intermittent-fasting The hodgetwins regularly do 21 hour fasts and they're still buff. You can find more answers in the group above.
  • Answers below http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/986129-knee-pain
  • One more thing I just remembered. The more muscle you have in your legs, the faster the pain goes away and it helps reduce knee impact injuries from jogging. Muscles help reduce the impact your knees take when jogging so build any and all muscles in the legs like your quads, calfs, and etc etc. . Most joggers greatly…
