Join the IF group. Lots of questions have been answered there. You could also check out the hodgetwins on YouTube. I think their channel name is called fastingtwins. I like to watch them because they are more entertaining to watch than reading a research paper. What they say matches up with IF research so you'd be in good…

Good advice. Breaking your habit can be bad! I know there's some science behind eating habits but just haven't had time to get around to finding all the necessary research. However, I do know that your body will release insulin when it is expcting food so if you normally eat at a certain time, you'll most likely have a…

Eating 5 times a day is bad for your teeth. Ask your dentist! At least that's what my dentist told me which further reassures me that humans are not made to eat like a chipmunk. That's not to say that eating 5 times a day doesn't work. It works because it makes the person engaged with food all day long, constantly planning…

I don't know how much potassium is in your nutritional shake but just check the label to see if you're getting enough.
-
Potassium is dangerous in both high and low amounts. If you are eating a low amount of food then it would be common sense that you're not getting enough. Over the shelf pills are only 5 percent daily Value and most americans never hit the daily recommended value. It's a pretty large number. VLCD are also recommended to be…
-
You should take some potassium supplements if you want to try it and you should lose fast as long as you exercise. Try to get most of your calories from protein. You also need a plan to reintroduce a normal amount of calories when you hit your goal weight.

Carb cycling is nothing new and it works but you don't need to go 7 days. That would suck. One day high carbs and one day low is all you really need to ensure you don't eat too many carbs. People will generally eat too many carbs especially when they binge since it's in all of our favorite foods like cake, donuts, chips,…

I just finished watching the second video and thought it was much more interesting than the first one. Glad that he back tracked on the name "Metabolic Damage" and called it "Metabolic Adaptation". He has an interesting theory and I hope the scientific test he plans to do will yield something useful.
-
You mean that video of the good doctor Layne? Very respectable man and I respect him even more for acknowledging that what he was about to say is not based on science. What he saw wasn't even based on first hand experience. He was referencing people that he talked to in the industry, people striving for showroom bodyfat…

I just wanted to point out that your metabolism was never damaged. All you did was move enough to account for how much you wanted to eat.

Yes, weight is not the only issue here. The idea is to immediately force her cells to pull more resources from plaque in her arteries and the fatty liver instead of the resources already floating around in the blood.. Artery plaque is made from fats, cholesterol, and calcium. All these things the cells need. The low…

The OP is a 240 pound female. She is more likely to die of heart disease tomorrow than eating 1k calories, which is why I see nothing wrong with the 1k recommendation. If someone can make a case that 1k calories can actually kill you than I could agree but the fact of the matter is that the OP could drop dead any moment…

South Korean food is mostly vegetables and they don't have an obesity problem. Most people there are skinny. You'll have to double or triple your food portion to match what you'd normally eat in America. Eat local food and you will not have a problem, so long as you stick to one serving.
-
No one has answered the OP's question. She wants to know why it is necessary to eat back exercise calories. The only bad thing that can come back from not eating them is you binge eating it back if you create too large of a deficit. If your not having that problem, carry on. Also, the bigger the deficit, the faster you…

Yes. Speed will increase your metabolism, thermogenesis induced exercise, for the rest of the day. HIIT, will increase it the most.

2,500 calories is the same amount of food that a 210 pound man eats, Hodgetwins to be exact. Try 1700 calories.

Her diary says she's eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It seems to me that she falls into the same category of people who get hungrier after they eat breakfast, as seen in the link below. The easiest solution is to skip breakfast and to count your calories when you eat lunch and dinner. Lunch and dinner will…

Don't eat breakfast. That's probably the worst thing to do as breakfast makes a lot of people hungry. Just eat at night when the fast is over.

Would you believe that they are 38?

I was on mobile with a youtube mobile link that i tried to edit. The link should be fixed now and I posted it again below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyrY64DoHeE

Video below of Hodgetwins saying that IF helped break their plateau. They ate the same amount of calories for both IF and a 5 meal day plan. IF broke their plateau. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyrY64DoHeE

The hodgetwins also broke their plateau using IF.

Intermittent fasting removes fat from my face. The Hodgetwins also reported the same thing.
-
Try intermittent fasting to see if it helps.

Thirty percent carbs? Carbs hold the most water in the body and is what pro boxers and wrestlers cut out before weight-in so his results would be skewed.
-
If you're trying to lose weight, I wouldn't eat those calories back unless you are hungry because this is just a one time thing. If you plan to walk 26 miles everyday, thats a different story. Your body will let you know if you should eat or not by giving you hunger cues. If you get hungry, eat. Don't force food down your…

Yeah, 2000 calories sounds like you just literally ran a marathon. Are you sure you calculated that right? An hour of exercise normally burns in the range of 300 calories to 600 depending greatly on the weight of the individual.
-
I agree with everyone who says it doesn't matter BUT consistency does matter! If your normal protocol does not involve late night meals and you eat a late night meal, you're cheating yourself. Eating the same time and same amount everyday helps create good weightloss habits. I also believe there are certain hormones that…
