They'll be back on here years later saying they don't know what went wrong and gained the weight back and more.

It's not about eating "diet foods" that make you healthy. Some of those low calorie products are high in salt etc. Trying doing some regular nutritious meal but count calories and portion size.

900 calories is unhealthy and unsustainable in the long term.

9 years now. Lost around 130lbs. Fluctuated one or two stone here and there because of sports stuff but always maximum a size 12 (UK) Added edit: Secret to my 'success' ... which isn't always easy ... is that it all comes down to: 1. Calories in VS calories out - don't cut corners. Be aware. 2. Don't "cut out" anything or…

Agree!! Although he did pick the same pic as the marisota one before I showed him the result ....

This is why I don't believe mine

Ok, I get jip from people saying I have body dysmorphia but according to this, I am 6 sizes smaller than I think. I still don't think that's right though.

Inaccurate logging of calories and overestimating of calorie burn *edit* dang didn't realise how old this post was
-
Yep, pretty much. I haven't found the balance yet bug hopefully one day before becoming middle aged I will. I need to log meticulously.

This - on weight loss. But I distribute calories to maintain energy levels, hungry pangs, and for pre-training and post- training recovery.

Fair dos. Although maybe try switching for a bit and maybe you'll end up not noticing the difference? Or think ... You could literally have another massive meal for the amount of calories you consumed in a massive glass or two or fizzy pop!
-
This is also BS. Depends on your activity and what you started out as.

Short end of it is: 1. This type of thread pops up regularly but is no less valid to ask if you missed it! 2. Depends if you want to go into the actual science of it, but yes it is BS unless you consistently undercut calories for a prolonged length of time, and are underweight 3. The reasons for why this BS myth is…

Some of the unhealthiest people I've known are vegetarian. But then some of the healthiest too. Being a veggie won't automatically make you healthier, you still have to monitor and make the right choices. Being vegan does though help you lose weight - but only because it's so restrictive that you're forced out of eating…

I see a lot of people mention fizzy drinks, I don't get it, why not immediately switch to the diet version?!?

1. ALCOHOL - for pleasure and for business (I'm a journalist so it's usually the lubricant for endless events and meetings) 2. I am a true foodie and dine for pleasure and love decadent food

Well, it's like the celebs who go "I've got a high metabolism" "I do 20mins of my fitness DVD week" etc. They don't want to show how f-ing boring, miserable and regimented stick in on such a low calorie diet is.

I love you. Anyways, what the OP was saying wasn't as controversial as some are making out. There are medical exceptions to everything and guess what? When OPs make a comment, they're making a comment, it's unlikely they've bulking the medical cases into it. Also, yeah, I find it irritating that it is 80% pay for course…

Quitting / banning anything always ends up reverting back to bad habits (unless you're an alcoholic). I have yet to meet a single person that has quit drinking for good (i.e. longer than 2 years at least) or have quit and not been utterly miserable (as it usually goes with a lot less socialising). Cut back and of course go…

This has probably been said but she kind of sounds like my mum and one of the ONLY ways I have helped her on, or anyone else in the family whether over weight or depression, is by taking the first steps together. I'll say - look I'll do EXACTLY what you do and eat for two weeks - let me do everything and all you;ll have to…

Like smoking, it won't really do very much for health I reckon, it'll just make people poorer.

This.

Yup. This. It always seems to come down to accurate logging. Salad dressing, drinks etc all add up and people tend to forget.

Not for years ... I found that all that it did was promote binging for me and undoing most of the week's strain. I find the best is still counting calories on a 'cheat day' but just relaxing the limits slightly, rather than an all out food craze that seems to happen to a lot of people. Also I only have a 'cheat day' if…

I wouldn't bother telling anyone you are losing weight ... from experience all that has happened is that people sabotage and always say 'you're fine the way you are' (the ones who are about half the size / quarter of me) and (the ones who are larger) 'well, if you need to lose weight what are you saying about me' ... it's…
