  • In addition to other suggestions make sure you are pushing up through your heels and not the balls of your feet. Also, when you stand up make sure you are fully erect and squeeze those glutes pushing your pelvis forward :-)
  • I struggle with this as well. Flexibility is one of my issues, along with being a little tall with a long torso doesn't make it any easier. A wider stance and toes pointed helps. I keep the weight light until I can get lower and I do sumo squats to help. Keep working at it!
  • You left out the part about the zero fat diet. The recipes need to be for fat free, meat free food. [/quote] Huh? Why do the recipes have to be zero fat? There is fat in a plant based diet.
  • I'm not a Vegan, but instead of saying vegan or veterinarian I go with Plant Based, whole foods :-) And Chocolate is plant based, just not everything else they put in the candy bars. There are some good plant based recipes for chocolate desserts using unsweetened cocoa powder, dates are a key ingredient to make things…
  • Good luck! It's not easy but I felt better when I went to a plant based diet. Because I hate when people get the two mixed up here is a quick definition. You are not "veganish" Veganism is a philosophy and compassionate lifestyle whose adherents seek to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose.…
  • Awesome lol
  • I thought they were weird at first and couldn't' figure out why I really needed them. Then the creek crossings began, now they are invaluable to me :)
  • I am mean too, it means we are doing it right!

  • Have you tried not using anything with hydro-cortisone/steroids in it? Long term use of both can actually make the problem worse. It's almost like an addictive property similar to nasal spray. It works well using a short course of it but with continual use can actually make the symptoms worse. I stopped using it years ago…
  • I'm not a career runner or anything, but I am a long distance backpacker/hiker. After trying everything people would suggest from shoes to getting my gait tested my issue turned out to be tight calf muscles :-) Weird how everything is tied together. I stretched/foam rolled the crap out of my calves before and after…
  • Start now :-) I had better results losing weight/fat with strength training than with cardio. I understand your hesitation though, you're right any type of strength training exercise when you're fat is discouraging! And sometimes embarrassing :-) My stomach rolls always got in the way of everything! heheh But, the more…
  • Thanks for sharing!! I also like to experiment with nutrition, just to see what happens. I wanted to know what it felt like to remove all processed foods from my diet and started a Plant Based Whole foods diet (not raw or vegan). I went 100% in and even avoided oils. It was hard at first, but there were so many wonderful…

  • Some times there are no tests that can give you the exact answer. Eliminating everything from your diet to find the cause can be very effective. I eliminated everything but fruits and vegetables from my diet until all the health concerns I had were gone. Then I slowly added things back into my diet to see what happened.…
  • I switched to a plant-based whole foods diet and it has had an amazing impact on my health, especially my digestive issues. I didn't switch to lose weight though. If you are focused on weight loss like most people will say you can do that with just a calorie deficit.
  • Kale is amazing and you'll get more of the nutrients if you don't cook it. If you don't like it raw try to just lightly saute it to keep all the good stuff :-)

  • Well said!
  • YES! Finally, I thought I was they only one who thought this. Thread after thread after thread of women in the free weights section being such a big deal that I thought I was going to some weird alien gym or something. I don't get it, women lifting is neither new or rare. Anyway OP doing anything for the first time can be…
  • I'd laugh :) Good luck, I think it's a good idea, ignore the negative comments, they just sound old and bitter lol
  • What's wrong with your current vegetarian diet that you think this may be beneficial? Do you not eat a lot of raw vegetables already?
  • Last night I got from a 6 year old "Ohhh that smells so good" so I said have a bite and see if you like it! "ewww no, it doesn't look good and smelling good doesn't mean it tastes good" arrrggggg wouldn't even take a small bite lol
  • I agree, trying to track micro-nutrients is a beast! I've done it a few times with the juice's I make but it's just an approximation and I do it just to make sure I'm not deficient in anything major, but it's not an every day thing, so I take a multi :-) Glad to hear the vitamins are working for you! I'm "pro vitamin" so I…
  • You can get all your micro nutrients from food, it's possible but not probable, so I take a multivitamin just in case. However OP, all of the vitamins you listed you can easily get from food. I'm wondering why you chose those? There are a lot of others you can take that you might be deficient in your diet, but not really…
  • Oh I hear this a lot, from kids and adults!
