chandnikhondji Thanks for your story. May you find the strength and joy to stay on this path to new life.

First, my biggest weight was 25 pounds more than here, since i lost it about five years ago, I did not include it. At my biggest, I was 255 and 6'0". What got me there, besides enjoying my own baking, was denial. With struggles at work, growing children, and not paying attention, the weight went on. I could always point at…

Fruit instead of? What is she eating that keeps her full? And what is the calories? All fruit is good for you, as long as it is not processed. In fact, I read recently that eating an apple an hour before a meal will actually make you eat less because of the fiber. I also learned that raspberries are high in fiber, who…

I have been working on having the drink I want to have with what I am eating or doing. For me, that has meant less alcohol all together. But, when I do have it, I have what I really want. I always ate pizza and beer. Now, I am not eating pizza as much, so I am not having beer. The other night, I had homemade BBQ ribs, and…

Without seeing your diary, can't make a complete ruling if you are doing anything wrong. I would search what makes you full without eating a lot of calories. And, if you are just getting started on the diet, your body is still adjusting to eating less. So, with that said, here are some ideas I have gained from reading on…

Congratulations. You have given yourself the best gift ever. Enjoy the energy. Keep up the good work.

That's why I went on a 2 hour bike ride. Now, I can have one piece, and only one piece. And, it will be dark chocolate.

I emailed our local IGA for theirs and received the answer within 24 hours. Theirs are similar to Safeway in size and have 320 calories.

I realized how many calories and how much money my wife and I were spending at Starbucks and the other coffee places and stopped buying them. For our birthdays last year (which are 10 days apart) we bought an expresso machine at Starbucks. Now, we make them at home. Figured it out, within a year, we more than paid for the…

I weigh first thing in morning wearing the shorts I slept in. I always sleep in athletic shorts, so they weigh about the same. You also asked about a BMI scale. According to a sports trainer friend, they are less reliable than the scales for weight. It will vary simply by how much moisture is on your feet. The best way to…

Keep us posted on the changes. I never eat all my exercise calories. In fact, I eat very few of them. But, my weight has stayed the same for the past three weeks. I wonder what it does for others.

When I get hungry at night, I reach for an apple this time of year. One apple is 130 calories. If I want it warm, I cut out the center, sprinkle with cinnamon and microwave. In past, used sugar, but stopped. The cinnamon gives the hot apple enough flavor.

If it doesn't contain caffeine.

Anything with fiber, fruit, water, water, water. I also find that ground flaxseed has made me more regular.

Haven't looked at your diary, but it actually has been fairly easy for me. I learned that I was eating about right on days I exercised, and too much on days I didn't. I was getting into shape exercising, but not losing pounds. In counting calories, I started losing weight. Then, after 4 weeks, I stopped losing. I had set…

According to my doctor, flaxseeds whole go straight through the body. You get some taste when you bite them, and they will break down, but the rest goes right through. If you want the medical benefits, you need to eat it ground. I have been using it for a couple months. Like others, I have it in my oatmeal, yoghurt,…

Don't give up. You can do it. Another advice always given is stay away from the scales. Feel good about how you fit in your clothes. I have been frustrated that I haven't lost weight in three weeks. So, I dug out the measurements of my chest, waist, arms and legs I took two months ago. When I saw that my chest is 5 inches…

Do a search here on MFP of heart rate monitors. There have been a number of discussions, including which ones people like best. Many people find them helpful. Calories burned in exercise here are based on your weight, etc. A heart rate monitor gives a more accurate calorie burn for you.

We are not completely organic. But, we get our eggs from a friend. We get half a beef every year from another friend. Our grains we get from Bob's Red Mill. They are located in Portland, OR but also on line. They have wonderful hot cereals. Just tried their Cinnamon, Apple & Grain yesterday. Wonderful. We also shop at…

Keep up the good work. Yes, realizing that it took 25 years to get into this shape, it is going to take a while to get back to normal. Alcohol--that is one I have mostly given up, realizing the empty calories. Now, I have a beer with my taco salad, or a glass of wine with a good dinner. Otherwise, it is more calories than…

I was exercising a lot all spring and summer and didn't lose a pound. Then, I joined here, watched my calories, and the weight is coming off. Realized I was eating too many calories on not riding days, so wasn't losing weight. Now, I am. So, the doctor has some logic. But, according to other things I have heard and read,…

Without sugar? Haven't heard of this one. My guess is it is processed sugar. Since joining here two months ago, I have stopped eating candy bars, cookies, etc. Then, last week I had a bag of M&Ms. They tasted lousy. I was amazed how different they taste. So, I went and had some dark chocolate, to see if I still liked the…

I did the same when I started out. Because I stay under my limit, I was actually eating way too little and stopped losing weight after a few weeks. Bumped it up to 1 1/2, and still stay under. Have lost a steady 2 pounds almost every week since, and it is working for me. Hopefully it will for the next 15 weeks. Though the…

Told my wife what your sister said. Her reply was, that's another incentive. She can't borrow your clothes. Let her know if she gets down a size, she can borrow it. A few years a go, we took a once in a lifetime trip before my daughter's senior year in high school. Everyone complained that they couldn't afford a trip, how…

Sorry to hear the lack of support. One thing you are saying is size 12 is fat -- for you. And, in a culture that supports being overweight, you are speaking against it. That is why you need to find support wherever you can. People don't like change, especially when someone else changes something and it makes them…

Since joining MFP two months ago, I realized that I was eating the same calories each day whether I exercised or not. That was why I wasn't losing weight. I had been cycling 3-5 days a week for at least an hour. Then I joined here and started eating the calories I was told. Actually, I stay under the total each day. I have…

My wife is a runner. She always bought inexpensive shoes because she "didn't run that much." Finally, in our getting in shape this summer, I convinced her to spend the money and get a real pair of shoes that fit right. She is now running more miles. Finished her first half marathon two weeks ago. Now, she has been running…

According to what I find, you eat less than 1,000 calories for three days, then you eat "normal" for four days to keep the metabolism high. Maybe if normal was 2,000 you would lose some weight in a week. Is this healthy living? I would rather eat right every day, check my calories in to calories out, get to the right…

MFP has a great article on this under their technical support forum. It is one of the must read articles about weight lose. In short, they answered it that if you lose more than 2 pounds a week, you are losing more muscle than fat. And, muscle actually burns calories higher than muscle. So, slow losing helps keep muscle…
