MMmmmm, yoga! I go to a class at my gym - it's a nice cross between a vinyasa and iyangar style, and I love it! I keep trying to figure out what I can move off my schedule in order to take more classes, but alas: life! *laugh* i find myself using yoga-think even when I'm doing my lifting or cardio now, too: "ok, focus on…

*cheering* I love when menus give their values - it makes things so much nicer! Congrats on your progress!

I am trying to integrate both in a more holistic approach to my health. I would love more support!

is it possible they didn't realise ahead of time it's a more upscale place? One evening, my sweetie and I were out running errands - I had on a sweatshirt, ancient baggy cords, and Vans on, for the sake of visuals - when we realised it was waaaaaayyy past dinner time, and holy cats we were hungry. So we stopped in a…

If you're netting 1100, you're intake is way less than your resting metabolism, so your body thinks it's starving. Your BMR is what your personal body requires to keep itself alive - 1200 net is a recognised minimum to keep your body from trying to hold on to everything to avoid dying, and you calculated yours at 1727. By…

I often eat the same things for breakfast during the work week to alleviate stressors - I mix up a giant batch of greek yogurt w/ steel cut oats, protein powder, and some fruit, and portion it out for daily breakfast (mmmm!). The rest is catch-as-catch-can; I get bored super easily, and hate eating the same things all the…

This! I don't know about you, but life has enough rules. I don't need to add another 30 to it! *LAUGH* The one thing that I do that I think helps more than anything else is drink water. Lots of water! I drink about a gallon a day, and when I do, it makes a positive, noticeable difference in everything I do.

By some standards, I eat "bad" every day - I eat a pretty high proportion of my meals in restaurants or fast food joints, I live for cheese (no, really: that's on my inspirations list! *laugh*), and when I want some fried chicken I'm gonna have me some fried chicken! *laugh* You can't out-exercise a bad diet, but just 'cos…

I feel you! I am a dripping, disgusting mess after a workout and I was scared it would be revolting. ... so I tested it on my hubby! I trust him to tell me if I'm stinky! *laugh* Honestly, though, I found my hair easier to style and it's so much healthier now. I have always had super oily skin, so I was really convinced…

Nope, not at all. I work out four to six times a week, and I'm a sweaty girl, but even so... I thoroughly rinse my hair daily, but all in all, I rarely wash it, regardless. Long or short, this is my routine and has been for some time - and I get a lot of compliments on the health of my hair and how nice I always smell, so…

Defining "thin thighs" would depend an awful lot on the rest of one's build, I'd think. If your measurements are what would generally be considered on the smaller end, and you have a "thigh gap," I can't help but wonder if you're reaching for "thinspo," which would concern me a bit - and be a violation of TOS. While it's…

I've always found "oh, no thanks!" to be sufficient. I go out pretty frequently to parties and clubs, and worked in a very alcohol-soaked business for a while, and that's all I've ever needed to say. Sometimes, "oh, a [soda of my preference] would be fantastic right now! Thank you so much!" And I've never had anyone push…

Thanks you for asking - I was curious too!

I [try to] log everything, and keep a spreadsheet of weekly averages. I find often something I was kinda dreading entering isn't as bad as I thought, and something I thought was going to be OK was a killer on my counts. I eat what I want, for the most part, and logging my "splurges" lets me have an idea of what I'm…

I refuse to feel guilty about what I eat, but I *DO* know that once I've begun making healthier choices and taking better care, I notice eating less whole foods/ "good stuff" starts to make me feel yucky overall - which makes me feel badly that I am not taking better care of what I'm working so hard for, sort of. I just…

Yay! I have to say - after I started working out, I felt so much better about my body (even when the changes were just how I FELT, not how I LOOKED) I sometimes ahve a hard time not just ripping my shirt up and sayign "OMG LOOK AT HOW GOOD I LOOK!' *laugh*

37 and starting to think about how I want to feel when I'm 60 - so weights and cardio are my focus for strong bones and less risk of heart disease!
-
@Yarwell: MFP says I need to shoot for around 75, depending on my day; my doc reccs 1g/ lb of weight, which is almost double that. I'm *getting* 25-30, on an average day.

Wow, you guys! What great input - thanks much! I'll look at some of the less meat-based options. Does anyone have a favourite protein powder they can reccomend, or shall I just go with muscle milk and call it good? @thegrainmaste: thank you for the input. Unfortunately, it turns out I'm eating less than a quarter of what's…

Thanks, y'all. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to salmon and tuna, but I guess I'm adding some whey in :)

27.5 left, with a goal of Halloween for the total. I want 15 more gone by 4th of July, which may or may not be feasible.

"Sweat is fat crying." "Train like your evil twin is out to get you." "The first rule of Zombieland is cardio." "Goals are sexy." "I don't quit because I'm tired. I quit when I'm done." and finally: "If you started when you thought about it, you'd be done now." :)

I've recently began working yoga into my life and am loving it. It inspires me to try to want to take better care of myself in a holistic manner, so here I am!

You've been heavier longer than you've been "small" - of course it's going to take time to re-envision yourself! You have made amazing strides and incredible progress - and you may not FEEL thin, but it's important at this stage to realise you are still seeing your "old" self in your mind's eye, and give yourself kudos at…

I would add that no one knows the story of others, also. It's entirely possible the person that just got ripped open for being "skinny" is battling an ED - or coming off chemo - or just met their goal. We just never know.

Like many, I use the tools here to "re-set" my mental idea of what's "appropriate" -- but I don't sweat it if I'm "over" (I usually am). My goal is more a better fitness level and general health - and having a better understanding of what kind of caloric intake I'm looking at ("Oh, that doughnut is 350 calories. Hm. Is…

woot! That's awesome - I LOVE it when I challenge myself like that!

DJ Steveboy has some good mixes I like for cardio. Single Songs: "G.L.A.M.O.U.R.O.U.S" -- Fergie "When I Grow Up" -- The *****cat Dolls "Dirrrty" - Christina Aguilera "Womanizer" -- Brittany Spears "Dragula" -- Rob Zombie "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" -- Daft Punk "Poker Face" "Bad Romance" -- Lady Gaga "Express…

Please keep in mind that it take about a month before you will begin to see changes in your body from the exercise, and that muscle is much more dense than fat - so you may physically become smaller, and not see that reflected on the scale. Further, eating at that much of a deficit point is doing yourself a disservice and…
