  • Sounds great! Will certainly have to try it out :)
  • If the whole point is to eat GOOD fats, then wouldn't having a diet rich in (healthy) high fat foods provide the same results? There's a thing called the anabolic diet, not sure how well it works but it follows a similar base line WITHOUT having to take any supplements.
  • http://www.appliedhealth.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=400140&catid=89&Itemid=150 Thats a little easier to follow then my messy post! lol Also, I don't know why i put synthroid, I'm on eltroxin as well
  • I haven't actually read this article, mainly because I have no interest in sugar subsitutes. BUT this is a website written by two dieticians so I completely trust their opinions. Give this a read, hopefully it helps you! http://www.appforhealth.com/2011/08/agave-not-so-sweet-afterall/
  • You can google types of foods to avoid, and when/ what to eat to maximize the absorption of your medicaton. I'm on synthroid, so this is best for me. If i were to give you the simplest break down it would be this: Foods to AVOID: -Highly processed carbs. You'll find a "lower" carb diet works best for us, just simply…
  • Ironically, I just finished eating that as I read your post. Glad im not alone!
  • @Ranger I believe you mentioned the law of thermodynamics,so I thought this might be of interest to you. Of course this isn't the correct answer to what any one is saying here. As even the author mentions that many scientists and doctors have varying opinions and this is simply how HE views it. The article is a little…
  • I think you mean low carb not NO carb, but it can be a helpful way to speed up the weight loss process and some people who have done it for extended periods of time have had a reasonable amount of success. ^^^ this though isn't true. Certain foods expend more energy to be converted into usable energy. So eating 100…
  • Well now i just feel silly getting that wrong haha, maybe i'll make a little edit then :)
  • I wouldn't say i'm a work a holic, but i am definitly a gymaholic. But on the days that i am SUPER busy, i realize its quality over quanitity. 10-20 minutes of squats mountain climbers and push ups gets you WAY further than hours of cardio. If you have free weights at home its pretty manageable. I get all my work outs from…
  • This used to happen to me when i first started working out. Chances are either you're pushing yourself too hard, or you're not fueling yourself properly. Make sure to eat the right foods and work at a pace that is suitable for yourself. Sometimes that means taking it easy, and drinking more water. Eventually you'll find…
  • Really I wouldn't count these calories. The calories you burned from moving around would simply be placed under a sedentary lifestyle. You'd still be burning calories for 8 hours if you were simply lying on your bed, or sleeping. This would only be helpful if you were trying to personalize your BMR, but I wouldn't get too…
  • You don't need a new goal, you likely need a new work out routine. Focus on workouts that will tone your body.
  • The best tip i can give you is a classic: "you didn't fat over night so you wont get skinny over night." If you want to make sure the dedication is there then write it out. List off things you want to change about yourself, reasons you want to change them and HOW you're going to change them. Look at yourself in a mirror,…
  • I'm terrrified of gaining weight! I love studying at the gym though, simply because I cant just sit and read. So I spend hours on the bike reading through endless pages of ultimate crap. I also know that once i become comfortable eating somewhere ( and it becomes a habit) I'll always be hungry at that spot. For this very…
  • I actually completely agree. Through personal experiences when it comes to "weight loss" its a free for all on comments. And unless you've struggled with weight you cant REALLY know how it affects someone. But I actually take the fact that people are noticing as a compliment, I mean sure it wasn't said the BEST way…
  • my favourite chips are salt and vinegar, couldn't get enough! I switched over to having a pickle or two when i was craving them. Even though the salt content is ridiculous it seemed to do it for me !
  • Well then it is something to be celebrated! Sorry if i misinterpreted the wording, I didn't mean to sound offensive. I just know how easy it is when you have an eating disorder to want to continue that way because of the compliments( thats what i meant by it shouldn't be encouraged)
  • I'm a whiskey girl for sure, the taste is more pleasurable then chocolate if you ask me ;) haha ! I'm on the same page though, i need to give it up. Whiskey + late night mcdonalds runs are killing the last ten pounds for me. no more drinking till university starts up this fall i guess.... :(
  • Just get over it. People are at the gym to work out just as you are. I don't think I've ever seen someone in the gym and judged them. If you're there to make a difference then good for you. But if you are really that insecure, then you better work your booty off until you no longer feel embarrassed. Focus on yourself for…
  • I agree that losing that much weight is something to be celebrated... if it were done the healthy way. so i would NOT recommend encouraging some one with an eating disorder by telling them they are "obviously doing something right." But of course you have set yourself up for failure, because 500 calories a day is not a…
  • My favourite thing at the gym is jumping rope... I know i could do that at home too, but i always feel more dedicated when i'm at the gym :)!
  • I prefer to keep hydrated. SO I'm going to go ahead and keep drinking my water ( since it is no fat, no calorie and no sugar) but YOU can go ahead and stop drinking it. Let me know how you feel ok? .... I also can't believe that people are arguing over whether or not to drink water. I understand the debates over aspartame,…
  • Ive lost quite a bit of weight regardless of my thyroid condition. I found low carb really did work best, but its not a lifestyle I thought i could keep up with. That being said, hard work and dedication my dear friend.. the weight will come off!
  • I use the word diet MAINLY when talking to other people. People tend to roll their eyes at your when you say "No thanks, I don't want that I'm on a life style change."
  • Been there done that with the whole "giving up" feeeling. I found I needed to do a few very important things. 1. Stop the it starts tomorrow attitude. You start eating healthy NOW 2. If you just binged: Calculate the calories you ate, get your booty to a gym and try to burn ALL of those off. I guarantee, by the time you…
  • As someone with a thyroid problem i have to 100% avoid soy at all cost. Therefore, I'm all for Almond milk :)
  • Yes, i LOVE learning new things about food and what i can do to make myself healthier. it really is an addiction. i've also lately been able to admit that i am a gym junkie! I love love love new excercises and doing things that push my body to its limit! I really would work out all day if i could
