You said you were half way through your phD so i figure you can answer this best! If it doesn't oxidize into formaldehyde... why did my biology text book tell me it did? Edit: I realize im probably coming off sarcastic or snobbyish or something, but i am genuinely curious!

I couldn't agree more! Sometimes I have to force myself to eat bad food, and after I eat it my body is automatically calculating the calories and fat content of that piece of food. Its a lot more tiring for me to eat something bad then it is to eat something good, that's for sure!

I've lost about 30 lbs, and I have hypothyroidism. I will tell you this, you may work a little harder and your results may not show as quickly but it is possible. In all honesty, I spent a long time looking for the "quick" fix, or something to blame for why i was still fat. But in reality I knew it was me. You're on…

Since I've started using it, my body is a milllion times more toned. I actually have been stopped at the gym by the "regulars" (you know, the people you see every day but have never talked to) just so they could compliment me on how fit I look!

No no i complete understand the options:) I actually used to use that reasoning as well ( recovering diet coke addict right here!) I just had to let myself realize that there wasnt ONLY two options, there's always that last possibility ( you know not dying from a life threatening disease preferably) and I can 100% say i do…

wow, dealing in absolutes eh? How about eating properly and exercising. My diet rarely consists of a food with artificial sweetener and im not even close to being overweight or obese. Perhaps the next time you use that logic you remember theres always a third way to die : of old age or natural causes. That type of logic…

I feel like if people just read this website, there would be no more MFP "debates". Thanks for sharing!

I know you're not TRYING to be rude but its comments like these that give overweight people a reason to feel uncomfortable in public. She's making a sandwich for goodness sake, if it bothers you that much make yourself one at home :)!

Such a vague question!! If i was 168, let me tell you i would look it! but then again i'm a shorty and sadly have very little amounts of muscle :( you look gorgeous and reallllly its all just number its more important how you FEEL.

1. can you please open your diary so i can see what you're eating on a regular basis, i think that would help. 2. I've had a thyroid condition and that has not once hindered my ability to lose weight. I've gone from 160 to 130 within the last year and plan on finishing that last ten pounds by the end up the summer! There…

Since its summer..i'm actually bored of eating. I do eat the worst when me and my friends go out... and because its summer thats just about every night. Thankfully they know I'm a health food junkie so they don't make comments when i dont pig out with them. But during the regular year i eat the most when im completing…

I don't know if this reallly helps the issue but you actually just marked the end of your fourth decade... technically your moving into your fifth. But from what i hear 40s are the new 30s so embrace it !!

OK please don't say is "breaks down" into an amino acid like thats all fine and dandy. It actually oxidizes into these amino acids, one of them being methanol, which then further oxidizes into formaldehyde. Aspartame is also a carcinogen due to its chemical structure, you can't truly deny the direct impact of the classic…

I've just read more inaccurate posts that my mind can comprehend. Everything is a chemical? Of course it is but there are different types of chemicals. Maybe you should have taken organic chemistry?( Don't be fooled by the name they're EXTREMELY harmful). And aspartame a.k.a the prime ingredient in diet drinks is an…

I think ill need to read these every morning... just as a reminder!

1. Take a cheat day 2. Don't be so hard on your self when you gain a little weight, or hit a plateau. There's no need to be discouraged. Take the time to remember how far you've come. Think of your first plateau as "starting over" look for new interesting foods, and exercise routines. You lost weight the first time doing…

From looking at your diary and from the exercises you've been doing ... you may he more health aware but you are far from healthy! You really are eating over your calorie goal far too much, and trust me the elliptical does about nothing for you long term. If you want to see results start picking healthier fooods, and less…

I dont really "log" calories anymore( at least im trying not to). I still use the site because i love hearing what people have to say. I'm at the last 12 lbs-ish (currentyl 132)... so i would love to be able to get to a comfortable weight without obsessing over what goes into my body. If i can lose weight without the site,…

They reallly are the best. Not necessarily for new excercises but they do put together a great routine! I've actuallly started doing one of there work outs every morning, and I can't even begin to explain how much more definition I'm noticing.

apparently im having a lot of issues with links lately.. ignore that one haha THIS would be the proper link : http://www.bodyrock.tv/

I actually found her through youtube but she has her own site. http://fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html

Like so many people here have said you NEED to eat more, and different types of foods. It's easy to fall into a routine once you know it works, and unfortuanetly your entire body responds in the same way. I almost never do the same work out routine at the gym, and I try to switch up my "dieting" drom day to day. For…

The whole reasoning behind milk and carbs being bad for you is that they really aren't part of our "natural" diet. Humans actually ALL used to be lactose intolerant. However, over years we became immune to it (because apparently we couldnt get enough). Technically everyone who isn't lactose intolerant contains a mutagenic…

...... i probably should have posted the link, oops :) http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nutrition/how-many-carbohydrates-do-you-need.html

May I intervene for just a moment? While i appreciate the support ( kind of ) , you're both doing one of the first things that bothered me about this site.... arguing your opinion without consideration of other peoples diets. When I said my mother made me sandwiches every day for lunch she knew it was because we burned it…

This always happens to me! Except this time I binged like craaaaazy all day and drank about a mickey of whiskey... but still lost weight? And the weight has STAYED off since that night. I think alcohol may be a new diet plan? haha

I'm sorry to have offended you, i really only mentioned the carb thing because it does seem to be the latest fad. Not that there is anything wrong with it, it is a fairly healthy way to lose weight HOWEVER some people seem to believe its the only way to lose the weight they want as if eating a single carb will inhibit…
