The reason my Dr ordered the test is that I have been testing my blood sugar (Im not diagnosed diabetic) just out of curiosity and to get a handle on how certain foods make me feel and satiety and I came to her with my fasting BS levels. They seemed high to me, I was concerned. She agreed my numbers were on the high side…

Yes, I sleep really well. Sleep has NEVER been a problem for me. Im not overly stressed and Ive eaten the best I ever have since mid Feb. Im confused. I am 49 and on the brink of menopause and wondering if hormonal changes could play in. I have been more anxious the last year than normal. Hmmm.

I think its one of the smartest things you can do to take control of your health. I started a keto/ low carb woe back in mid Feb. It wasn't until end of March that I decided based on embracing this woe and trying to figure out how & what I eat effects my energy, weight, satiety, etc to begin checking my blood glucose…

I understand the meaning of the color readings I get when I use my Ketonix but I hear low carb experts talk about a numerical reading most likely from the blood test measure. How do the color readings equate to the numeric readings?

So true, I've determined when use mct oil in my coffee I get very anxious and jittery. It has too much of a caffeine like effect on me. When I use a tablespoon of coconut oil it does not have the same effect at all on me.

Maybe I shouldn't have referred to my lack of weight loss as a "stall". To clarify, I think I was simply maintaining my weight at 140lbs for 3 months. A stall would probably happen when someone has a steady (or not steady) loss and then stops losing altogether. For me I started this woe on feb 15th, I lost 3lbs in the…

Found this statement on Precision Nutrition web page while researching today, good thing to remember! "Like salivating dogs, our appetite hormones are trainable, and they’re driven largely by our routines. They make us hungry when we expect to be hungry. If we have dinner every day promptly at 7, we can count on Ye Olde…

Good point! I do think I was relying on Moon cheese waaaay to often!

I have an appt with my doctor may 18th.
-
Thank you I am using an app called sugar sense to track my blood sugar. These are my averages:
-
That makes feel better! Diabetes is a whole new topic for me that I have never been educated on. I have not known much about it until I started taking my blood sugar levels and saw my results and doing some research.
-
I have not seen my doctor yet. It never even crossed my mind that I could be prediabetic until I saw my blood glucose numbers and realized my morning numbers are not decreasing. I've been trying to read as much info as possible and educate myself thru this process but yet also realize my doctor is my main go to.

I found the key is to gradually get it cold. When I stick a ton of glass of ice cubes in it ithe butter and or coconut oil chunks up as it chills too fast. When I add just a cube or two to the emulsified bpc and then as it melts add just a couple more it works well. The result is not as cold of iced coffee as true iced…
-
lol, I should have clarified! I make bpc iced so its chilled all morning. Sometimes I add a cup of cooled decaf to half of it as it starts to dwindle.
-
I may drop the kerry gold butter in my bpc and just stick to one tablespoon coconut oil in my coffee in the morning along with a splash of almost milk. This is going to be hard for me (Ive LOVE my bpc!) especially if its all Im consuming until 2pm. Ive read that if you use just a splash of heavy cream in your coffee you…

Yes, I am hungry when I eat those snacks. I keep waiting for that feeling everyone talks about when your in ketosis and you could go forever without food no problem. I haven't reached that yet and I thought maybe because Im eating too often.
-
thank you for the suggestion! You're right, I do think I've been focusing a lot on adding in fat. I'll watch that and maybe eating the way I suggested in my original post will ultimately thereby lower my overall calories which I agree have not been at enough of a deficit. I love this community! You get such great advice…

Thank you! Enjoyed the post.

Oops I meant Ketonix device
-
Yes, I was speaking about the Ketonix testing device. My question is how do you use it if your out and about?? I didn't expect it to be 100% tethered to my computer! I'd like the freedom of bringing it in my purse for a quick check.
-
Oops! My monitor is only a couple weeks old it's the reli on model.
-
-
Did you bring your level down by medication or diet/ exercise???
-
Yes! It's called sugar sense.
-
I absolutely LOVE it!!! I've had for 12 years and of course had it replaced every five years. It has completely stopped my flow ( doesn't happen everyone I've heard but always lessens it) and the big one for me is ZERO cramps! I can't say enough good things about it!!
-
Here's a question I'm hoping someone can help with. I'm tracking my blood glucose levels with a new app called Sugar Sense. I want to do this for at least a month and see my patterns with meals, hunger, satiety and sugar (again, I'm not diabetic) My question is how do I do a post meal test when you supposed to post one…
-
I've gotta say one really positive result of checking my blood sugar levels post meal is that it forces me to not snack between meals so I get accurate readings!
-
Thank you for the point about fast testing 8-12 hours after food, possibly that is why mine is on the high side or less accurate? Im testing about 8-9 hours after my last meal and maybe i should try to stretch that (its SO hard to go to bed hungry!!) Ive tested now for about a week and Im seeing high 90's and this morning…

I'm not having any uncomfortableness at all. I guess I just thought perhaps something was not right because my stools are so much smaller (again sorry for the rabbit pellet comparison) than what I thought was normal or "ideal" stools. I guess it's nothing to worry about. I am supplementing with magnesium also. Thank you!

I do drink quite a bit of water too!
