I just got back from vacation. I gained a pound but it's already gone. (probably water weight from all the sodium) I ate what everyone else did, but I was really mindful of my portions. I don't like to make a big deal about 'my diet' in front of people because so often the response is 'Eat some. It won't hurt you.' If I…

I'm 5'8". My goal is 160. Once I get there I'll see if I want to drop it to 140. I've been dieting for the past 25 years or so and have never passed my half way point, so setting a goal seemed like such a stretch when I started MFP. This time I've been successful. I think logging food and being very honest with myself has…

It was about 20 pounds before I realized I fit into an 18. It may actually have been less because I started in a very tight size 20 and went to a comfortable 18. Now I'm a comfortable 16 but can squeeze into a 14 if I inhale and don't breathe. It doesn't look pretty, but I know I'm close to fitting in them.

Definitely go with this advice. I've done the same thing; luckily I have the support of my family. I am really surprised at how the calories add up with seemingly innocent snacks and toppings, etc. Tracking everything has been a great help to me. Don't cheat on your entries because you're only cheating yourself. Good Luck!!

Glad you made the right decision. I also struggle with well-meaning, food-offering family members. It's definitely a challenge.

That's a good article. I've often felt the same way. This time around I'm not dieting. I'm watching what I eat and trying to make better choices. This is the first time in 25 years that I've gone beyond my halfway point without feeling discouraged and deprived. If I feel like Ice Cream, I have some, just not a huge bowl of…

I'm not sure. I'm behind a desk all day so it's sedentary for me. That's an easy one. Good luck. I hope someone has an opinion for you. :flowerforyou:

This is mine. Pinterest is fun. It's like a grown up version of looking through a picture book. http://pinterest.com/karenaschindler/

we adopted two rescues -- a beagle/basset mix named Schnitzel and a Heinz 57 mix named Buddy. Just for kicks We had his DNA tested and the results were a mix of Scottish terrier/rottweiler/collie/corgi/american eskimo/pomeranian/australian shepherd. He's our 90 pound baby

I'm just a bit past my halfway point, but I'm thinking once I reach maintenance I'll have to continue to track. I've been a chronic yo-yo dieter my entire life. I'm hoping this time will be different, but that's only if I keep track of what I'm doing.

Definitely this. Or, "You don't have to lose anymore. You look fine now. Have some cake!"

There's no right or wrong about it. Do what works for you. I weigh myself every morning before breakfast. I don't record changes in MFP unless I've been as a weight for at least two days (up or down). I'd rather see how it fluctuates. It helps me. If I weigh in only once a week and it's on an upward fluctuation day I'd…

Surprisingly I find that I like this program. It's quite a workout. I started last week; just did day 4 yesterday. I wasn't sure how to log it, but someone told me to log it as circuit training. Good luck with the workout. I feel energized after I finish!

My mom still has my old 10 speed from the late 70's. Should I spend the money to get it 'tuned up'? Or are the current options much better.

that happened to me once. I was devastated! What I hated when I actually was pregnant was when complete strangers would come and touch stomach. What makes people think they can rub a strangers belly just because they're pregnant?! Very annoying!

thanks! There's some great ideas that we might have to try this summer. :flowerforyou:

Rice surprised me. But, most of all it was my innocent side salad which often topped my dinner choice in calories after I added the cheese, croutons, dressing, etc. I'm much more careful in my choice of toppings now.

I'm the same way. Somedays are better, and then some days are horrible. Like yesterday when all I saw when I looked in the mirror was a fat blob. I was trying on some cute exercise clothes and felt totally disgusted with myself. I put them all back on the rack. It's a constant struggle.

I have to agree with you on this one! thanks for all the great ideas everyone. I'm not very handy in the kitchen. I can't wait to try your suggestions!

I would lose a bit more weight first. You may be surprised to see how much they shrink naturally, and how much better you feel when they do. I was a 40DD. Now, 33 pounds lighter I'm about a 38D. I really should go get measured again. It's a world of difference. I feel much better now than I did when I was a larger size.…

I can sleep on my side once again without feeling pain or shortness of breath.

Interesting to see that my nearly daily breakfast donut stop was anywhere between 400 - 800 calories depending on which ones I ate. Yikes! No wonder I feel better now that I've cut out all that fat and sugar.
