I used to be an extremely picky eater. When I was first starting to lose weight (before joining this site), I just started by cutting down on portion sizes, and I lost 11 lbs in a little over a year. I think if I had been tracking my calories and exercising during that time, I would have lost more, but I think that's still…

You may look great eating 5 donuts a day, but for a lot of people, that would be setting them up for failure. Again, just in my opinion. I'd rather be healthier on the inside than look healthy on the outside.

Fruit is a fine way to satisfy a sugar craving. They do have a lot of sugar, but they also provide a lot of nutrition. If you want to keep your sugar from spiking, just have the fruit with something high in fiber or protein.

I've known a lot of women who have lost weight cutting out white flour products and switching to whole grains. So in my opinion, it's worth switching.

My guess is that you're consuming too much sodium. Try cutting back and you may find you aren't so thirsty.

This just made my day, lol

I have a Kashi brownie with my yogurt just about every morning. I think it helps curb cravings. It would probably help me lose more if I ate a bigger breakfast with it, but I'm not a morning person, it's a miracle if I can get to work on time in the morning, I'm not waking up any earlier to fit in a real breakfast!

I don't consider myself as being fat, I consider myself a lazy person with a sweet tooth trying to eat healthier and get more active. Positive thinking helps to get me on the right track. Negative thinking just brings on stress which brings on stress-eating which brings on weight. Who needs that? I prefer having a "think…

It's all in the eyes of the beholder. You're talking about Channing Tatum like he's a 10, which in your eyes, he may be, but in my eyes, he's not. You're also talking about yourself like you are a 3 deserving a 3. I think if you have more confidence in yourself, you'll open yourself up to a lot more options and not even…

If I'm certain that's the reason for the gain, I don't log it.

The blue lips is particularly concerning...I'd recommend seeing a doctor to find out what is most appropriate for you.

I'm 5'3" so the recommended weight for a woman my height is between roughly 104-140 lbs. My lowest adult weight was 120, my highest was 170 (before joining MFP). That would give me a total of 50 lbs lost if I choose to go back to 120, but right now I'm just working to reach 140 lbs, and then I'll reset my goal to 135 and…

We do all have the choice of what to eat, BUT I think most of us joined this site with a lack of understanding of how to eat well and can stand to take some good advice. Undereating can be just as harmful as overeating. I think the OP has a right to be concerned about the fellow members of this site.

I've found bugs in my vegetables before.

I think it depends on where you carry the most weight. I carry the most around my middle so it takes more exercise for me to work off even the slightest bit of middle weight. So far, I've dropped from a size 14 to a 10. But I can't fit into all 10s, it depends on the store. My legs can fit into smaller sizes that I've had…

Same for me, I don't bother logging spices. I log just about everything else though, which most certainly includes milk.

I had the option to go to a health screening at my office a year ago. We were going to be paid to go so it was easy money. We had the option to do a free coaching program in the months to follow but I didn't care about that, I just wanted the money for the screening. Then I got my results and realized I was borderline…

It looks to me like the majority of what you eat is protein, and you eat little of anything else, you mostly just have a tiny bit of veggies right in the middle of the day some days. I think you need a more nutritionally balanced diet. Protein is good, no doubt, but cut out just a tiny bit to have more room for more…

My goal is set to 1,270. I've just been getting back into the swing of things, so I tend to go a little over, but I've lost 5 pounds in the last week, so going a little over obviously hasn't done me any harm.

The only thing I'd cut out is the juice. Everything else looks good. Oatmeal does have a lot of benefits, and it will also help your body absorb the sugar from the fruits more slowly. Go ahead and continue eating them together, and don't worry so much about your sugar going over so long as it continues to be from good,…

I agree with all of the advice given by mahanaibu. You've made a great start on your own though, the pool is a wonderful place to get exercise and you seem really motivated to do well. Keep up the good work!

Amazing progress! It sounds like you've been through some really rough times so your success through it all is even more impressive. Keep up the great work!

Limiting your portion size can help. If you typically use 1/2 a cup of pasta sauce, use 1/4 of a cup. Instead of 2 tbsp of salad dressing, limit yourself to only 1. Whatever you notice has more sodium than you can afford in your daily diet, just use smaller amounts of it at a time.

Consume less protein and you will not feel so full so fast. You'll have room to have a more balance diet and eat more of a variety of foods.

I like carbs too, and I eat them every day and still manage to lose weight. I'm all about frequently choosing the carbs that provide the most nutrition (particularly whole grains and fruits). Nothing wrong with that. Just limit the carbs that are high in calories and lack real nutrition (like sugary dessert items and…

That's the kind of moment I'd like to make a sarcastic comment like, "Well, somebody knows that latenight schedule well..."

Wow, that's truly a beautiful story. That's certainly a moment to remember!

There's no better day to splurge than your birthday. If you want the lasagna, go ahead and have it! Just limit yourself to a controlled portion and savor every bite.

When I was trying to bring my blood glucose level down, I started switching to dark chocolate. I never liked it growing up, but I knew I needed to stop eating Reese's, Kit Kats, Mounds, etc. on a fairly regular basis because I could never stop at one piece, I had to keep having more and more. I started by eating dark…

Great job! Keep up the good work :)
