Congrats, Don! You are awesome!! I still think about the way you carried through and met those challenges.

I'm "new" to screens and tracking and my GPS in general. I *still* haven't set up a Garmin account and downloaded all the info on my watch to my computer. Which I need to do b/c it's taking forever to get to satellites now (need to do the "update", I guess). So, take my info for what it's worth. For running, I have elapsed…

Congratulations on your day! Have fun with your Oly. I hope you and your guy can continue enjoying this together.

A little late to the thread, but I just use my regular sports bra that I do all my runs in. It's basic black so it's pretty neutral with the clothes and I got over part of the straps showing. Lycra tends to stretch more when it is wet, and over time, which is why you want a tight suit in the water. Personally, I wouldn't…

I won a pair of BlueSeventy OWS goggles at my tri on Saturday. I got to use them today and they. were. awesome. I like the lenses much better than the Speedo mirrored ones I've used in the past. But they have no peripheral vision (the goggle frame is very dark). I'm thinking there is a reason for it - maybe something about…

I finish every run or ride with a crusty nose. OTOH, I do not need to spit or pass gas. It seems most people have at least one of these issues. So when you work out with others, you get to know some pretty intimate things. As for ladylike, I feel like the snotty nose is the best of the three. At least that is what I tell…

You get extra points since you did an actual 70.3 the day before this started and had to throw a recover in between then and now.
-
I was thinking one/week would be about right for training (=about what I do already). Well, maybe more like 3/month for me, but I'm only training for a 70.3 You sure put in the running miles.
-
OK - I'll share the podium with you. You ran an awful lot further than me, so I'll let you keep the shared medal at your house first.
-
I'm done!! This will be the only podium finish I will EVER have!!!! I don't think I could even podium for my AG at 95. swim 5.2 miles (I use 1800 yd/mile) bike 122 miles run/walk 29.25 miles

You and your suggestive words. Geez. "Dual water bottle cage" "aero bars with shifters" "sleeveless wetsuit" And there was more. I was trying to forget all those things. Now I'm going to see this post swimming in my eyes the next time I head over to the shop.
-
Must forget everything I just read.

Race ya to the finish line? (Except, can I have an extra two hours since I'm on the west coast?) ETA: Is Scott also in on this Tuesday race?
-
Totals for last week: 6400 swim 107 miles bike 18.75 run/walk Should be done by Tuesday. I'm training for a 70.3 Also, I might have a slight addiction to the bike. Came home from one of the most beautiful state parks today and the place I wanted to be most was behind the lycra-clad cyclist.

This is bad. I have needed a new vehicle for a long time. I was supposed to buy one LAST May. But now that I can throw my bike into my van and don't need a hitch or to worry about it getting stolen, I think I will keep the van longer. Yes, it's true. My bike is worth more than my van.

I got my bike (finally!) and I'm LOVING it! My one scheduled long ride/week turned very quickly into two. I got a bento box to hold my phone and Clif bar. This was nice b/c every time I opened the saddle bag (that I stole off one of my boy's bikes and had to hand sew the zipper back together b/c it is that kind of…

My Garmin has a setting for "lifetime athlete" - AKA "efficient and not burning as many calories". Or you can choose regular athlete, that has a higher burn rate.

Thanks for the manual link. I will probably have to call customer support for some things. I want to figure this out. I'm not a techie person and it took me the better part of a year to finally order this. But I want to USE it. I'm headed into a big work week with extra shifts, so at least I can do some basic things with…

Thanks PetiteRunn!! That helped. It was a little different pathway, but I was able to find it thanks to you.
-
Thanks, PetiteRunn - I'm going to go try that now. Joe - Yes, I want to print it out. But I can't even find the manual. The website won't let me past that front page. I set up an account, and I still can't get past that page. It doesn't like my ipad??? I agree - they should be printing the manuals and including them with…

I got my new SheBeest ones from Sierra Trading Post. I used them (finally) last week, and I am in heaven. I have loved all of their products - well, the ones I bought, anyway. The particular pair I got is not labelled a tri-short, but a bike short. However, the pad is thinner than my bike pants/shorts, and it's…
-
I think I would use whatever you are most comfortable running in and add a gel pad to the bike seat IF you need cushioning during that portion.
-
I have some SheBeest capri length that I love. I have some Pearl Izumi shorts that I haven't worn yet that seem like they are going to be an OK fit, but might prefer just a smidge more thigh room. I have big thighs and full hips. I have a pair of Endura capri length that I cannot wear. They are for someone with relatively…

Someone I know locally told me last summer that she did her graduate degree paper on this. She calculated it to be around $35,000. (I don't remember the actual number, just that it was around that.) I kind of laughed at her and said that couldn't be true. With my surgery and several months of therapy afterwards for the…

I am planning to do that. I appreciate the suggestion, as for some reason, it didn't occur to me. I just haven't had a good vibe when he goes by, but none of the others have concerned me.

As luck would have it, I ran into someone today that I could ask about this. I didn't want to (seemed like a silly question), but after the responses here, I thought maybe it was more than I've been brushing it off to be. She and I have a lot of similarities - hair, body shape and size, clothing style. And she lives in my…

There is one guy I've seen a couple times, but it's not always the same guy. (I meant it's only one guy in the car, not a group of highschool boys out being loud.) It's guys who look to be 30's-late 40's. I will work on new routes, it's just that those have more traffic and I don't like to think about all the exhaust I'm…

That was the hardest size transition for me! I need petite, (NOT short!!) as I have an extrememly short rise. It has gotten better (more in proportion to the garment) as I've gotten smaller. Even petite rises used to be too tall for me (I had to fold them down). I have curvy hips and thighs. My measurements now would…

Since you said "it's not in the budget", that implies you need to be a bit more concerned with how you spend it. Get something you wouldn't otherwise buy, but that you can use more often. Rent the special snowshoes when you go. If you would actually be able to go on the trips necessary to use them, then get them. It…
