Pes anserine bursitis - Are you running again after having it?
Especially if you had to get steroid shots - you are the person I need to hear from. I'm feeling down. Is there any hope?

Upper back/bra band bulge, hot (temp) ladies - What's your favorite workout top in public?
I need new ideas. I normally would wear a racer back tank, but the bulges above my racer-back sports bras are too big to be seen in public right now. Public = inside the gym. Can you post a photo (or link to a page) of your favorite style workout top that disguises this? Or even a good description? I was thinking I need to…

Elevation - one way vs loop
Can anyone explain this to me? Or do you have a link for an explanation? (I'm not finding one - I can't figure out which terms to use to narrow it down enough.) ****But, what, exactly, are these elevation reports calculating?****. Just the UP portions??? If I do a loop, I get a (+) **AND** a (-) report, and they are…

Which athlete tracker app to use with iphone?
Which one should I get? I thought there would only be one. I prefer a free one, but cheap might be OK, too. I want to track a friend while I'm at work, but don't always have reliable service there, so don't want to shell out $$ if it might not work anyway.

Gel seat cushion vs padded shorts?
So - Is it just not cool to use a gel seat? Is that why everyone wears the padded shorts? I'm thinking it would be more comfortable to wear my regular running tights and skip the padding. I could wait until the last possible minute to slip that gel seat onto my bike. Or is there some functional difference I'm missing to…

Need new temporary watch??? Or an app??
My Garmin 910 is on its way back for service. I have a long trip planned -and it won't be back in time. What should I get (if I have time)? The less the better. If I only need an app or two, that would make me happiest. REI would be best, only what they have in the shop. A local big box store carries some more simple…

Yoga pants in Paris and Amsterdam (for biking)?
Does anyone who has recently (in the last couple years) been to these places have any input? I'm planning out our suitcase items. We will be doing some bike tours through Paris as well as leisurely rides in and around Amsterdam on our own, and I want to know if I can safely wear ankle-length yoga or running pants for these…

MapMyRide Q
I haven't used this app for an actual ride yet. I figured out a route to work and a different one back for tomorrow using the app. If I hit "do it", will my phone tell me when to turn, or do I have to keep stopping along the route and check my phone that I'm still on course? I'm more than a little worried I'll get off…

Road ID - new free app
I posted this in long-distance runners but am posting here, too, for those who are not on both boards. I found this free new app for use with my iphone. Here's what I've found so far: Emergency contact info as a screen lock It texts (with a map/location point) any contacts you pick if you stop moving for 5 minutes. I…

Road ID - new free app
I found this free new app for use with my iphone. Here's what I've found so far: Emergency contact info as a screen lock It texts (with a map/location point) any contacts you pick if you stop moving for 5 minutes. I tested it out on a longer ride over a mountain pass. I had good cell reception through most of those…

Running help needed
Running is the hardest part for me. I need to work on it during the off-season. I need overall improvement - some speed, and some endurance. Any suggestions/personal stories on how I can accomplish this? How should I focus on this? Can I just go out for 1-2 shorter, easier runs/week during my off-season and still improve?…

My first Half-Ironman
Here is a link to my post about it. I'm not fast, just happy to finish. I'll do it again, and I have nowhere to go but up. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/KathleenKP

910XT questions
I finally set up my Garmin Connect account and uploaded the data from my watch. Oh, boy. This is going to take a while to work through. I notice that it says my elevation gain for yesterday's ride was over 2300 feet. Our group leader told us it was 1600. What do I go with? (I think he plans it on RidewithGPS) I've also…

Galloway - Half Marathon training Q's
Does the pace/mile he suggests for the long runs *include* the walking portions? Or would that be the pace if you were only running? Also, the long-run pace he suggests is slower than I can (speed) walk. Thoughts?

Help! Garmin 910 HR monitor won't connect
I've spent the last hour trying to find a forum post somewhere on the internet and haven't had any luck. I went to the Garmin Connect website and it keeps getting me stuck on this "connect on your home computer" page and won't go any further. I'm on my ipad, which is what I use. I just need to know how to get this HR…

bike seat drainage Q
I've been seeing adverts in Triathlete Magazine for bike seats with drainage vents. Uhhh...what exactly is draining? It says these seats can help you go faster. Is that b/c you don't have to stop and pee? It's the only thing I can come up with. I sweat a lot. My workouts clothes after a major brick workout can be wrung out…

Drivers slowing down - safety Q?
When I run, there are usually some cars with single men (as in, only one guy) that slow waaaay down (and sometimes turn around and come back). Is this a safety issue? I don't care if they are just looking (and I'm guessing there aren't THAT many guys who want to attack me). This wasn't the sort of thing that would happen…

Racing pace same as training pace - how to improve it?
I seem to "race" pretty much at the same (slow) pace that I train at. It's like I'm on just another daily run. What is the best way to race faster? What do I need to change? (I've been working on speed on the treadmill, trying to train my legs to go faster, because I AM capable of it. I suspect I am holding back in the…

Garmin Forerunner 405cx?? Something else?
Is this what I want? I mostly pool swim and likely wouldn't wear it there anyway. But I definitely need bike/run stuff. I know I need the GPS and HRM. It looks like it is compatible with gym equipment, too? If gym equipment makes a difference, I go to a high-end gym - Pilot "computers" on the bikes and the typical…

Apple Earbuds as a HRM???
What is up with my earbuds? I randomly/sometimes get a HR when I'm on the treadmill. It's mine (not someone else close by), it's consistent with me, and once it shows up, it keeps reading for the duration of my time on the treadmill. I'd like it to function all the time, so if it is an actual feature of the product, how do…

Where? When? I'm showing my triathlon newbie-ness, but even worse is my lack of media-watching skills. TV?? (and channel?) Internet?

First tri = DNF bike crash and surgery

Lifting w/ broken arm / wrist - modifications? exercises?
My wrist is broken, but my doctor says I may continue lifting starting next week. I can use the arm that is broken if I can manage to only use my upper arm. Do you have links/book ideas for things I can do?

Where do you get your training info?
Books? (And which ones?) Forums? (Here? Beginner Triathlete?) Magazines? You Tube? Local friends? I've just been doing my own training since January, started running then. And I've talked a bit with people at the gym. I feel like I just needed to put in the hours to get a physical base going, and get through my first tri…

On My Own
I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now. My first triathlon is in two days, so I'm going through the range of emotions that comes with that. This has been my dream, the thing I wanted to do for myself, for 25 years. Two years ago I thought I was going to have to let that dream die, but I've brought myself out of where…

Socks
I saw my foot doctor today and he didn't like my socks. I was wearing Brooks socks. I have blisters on my arches. I wear orthotics because I have flat feet/overpronateand the blisters are happening just at the edge of the orthotics. For me, it's really only a problem when I run for an hour or more. Anyway, he said it was…

Motivational Songs
What are the songs that keep you going? I thought it would be fun to hear some other ones. There are two songs that I listen to EVERY. SINGLE. RUN. Since the beginning. They are like a lucky rabbit's foot for me, and I'm not sure if I could run without them any more. This one was actually playing over the loudspeakers when…
